Red Dead Redemption Remaster To Be RDR2 Pre-Order Bonus?

Please don't shackle a potential Red Dead Redemption remaster to pre-orders or special editions, Rockstar. Please!

Chaos_Raiden3113d ago

That would be awesome. Red Dead Redemption is one of my favourite games ever.

xfiles20993113d ago

More people would buy this because Red Dead 2 is not in Space

darthv723113d ago

Red Dead Revolver should be in there as well.

poppinslops3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

I wouldn't worry about it - if Red Dead ever gets remastered, then it won't happen anytime soon... Yeah, R* did it with GTAV, but that released within a year of it's last-gen counterpart, which (despite it's current-gen enhancements) makes it similar to a cross-gen game, at least in-terms of it's production costs - that, and GTAV is the biggest-selling entertainment product of all time, whereas a Red Dead remaster would only be worth a fraction of it's profits.

_-EDMIX-_3113d ago

Lol no.

They could probably have a transfer team get Red Dead Redemption up and running in mere weeks.

IIFloodyII3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

Look up how much of a mess Red Dead Redemptions development was and you'll know they couldn't have it up and running in weeks, probably not even years.

Edit: Good to know this site is still filled with clueless idiots, who just downvote anything that upsets them because they can't argue against it.

poppinslops3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

Perhaps they could, but that's assuming that a higher resolution was Rockstar's idea of a remaster, which - given the numerous additions/refinements to GTAV - doesn't seem likely... then there's the matter of Red Dead Online's broken netcode, which still hasn't been fixed.

Not to mention the game's already backwards compatible, which reduces the appeal on the xbox front - even PS4 owners can play it via their sham of a BC program... the only real audience would be on PC and Rockstar aren't going to bother going back for them.

C-H-E-F3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

Ehh porting will be a pain no PC game to port from. they will need to use xbox 360 game version to port because well PS3 is just a different element when it comes to cpu architecture.

TWB3113d ago (Edited 3113d ago )

Based on what I have heard about RDR, and the idea of it getting ported to PC, I doubt that a remaster is going to happen either.

Basicly, I heard they didnt port the original RDR to PC because it's development was chaotic, and the game code was a mess with a ton of rubbish left behind. If they were to make a proper PC port, the code would need so much cleaning up that it would be a nightmare.

Same would apply to a remastering of RDR, since remasters are simply slightly enhanced ports.

Inzo3113d ago

There is no doubt that it will get remastered. So much for RDR BC.

TheUndertaker853112d ago

Uh... How?

"So much for RDR BC."

To which Xbox One offers Red Dead Redemption backwards compatibility. PS4 doesn't offer backwards compatibility thus they don't and likely never will.

Pantz3113d ago

Are you asking me this question? I don't have an answer for you, try asking Rockstar.

It's going to be $80 on the Switch 2.

PRIMORDUS4d ago

Or free if you torrent both of them on PC lol.

fsfsxii3d ago

You could afford video games if you stopped commenting asinine comments here and got a job instead of stealing.

anast3d ago

"You could afford video games if you stopped commenting asinine comments here"

People have cellphones. They can work and squeeze in the 15 seconds to post a comment.

OtterX4d ago

Good sign that the PS5/XBSX version is coming soon at least.

neutralgamer19924d ago

Buy them when they are on sale. We just shouldn't be surprised anymore by prices hikes and or new games costing more. Simply speak with your wallets if you want these companies to pay attention. That's the only language they understand

raWfodog4d ago

The vast majority of the games that I buy are never at retail, always on sale. And usually it'll have to be a good sale too. At least 40% off. All this talk of increasing game prices rolls off my back.

neutralgamer19924d ago

same i like to pay $25-30 at most and even than closer to $25

Wh1teLightning4d ago

I don’t live in the UK and this makes no sense whatsoever. These games have been out for years shouldn’t they be going down?!? That’s not how you attract new players.

The_Blue4d ago

They don’t care about us. It’s the newer generation they are after.

QuantumMechanic3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

I think this is a very apt statement. Game publishers appear increasingly to view their IP like books, music, and cinema---evergreen content that can be reprinted throughout its lifespan (until it enters the public domain). It's actually very reasonable.

CrimsonWing694d ago

So this is how it works now? Old games get a price increase? This sh*t is completely getting out of hand now.

If Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't have Red Dead Online on Switch 2, keep it

Red Dead Redemption 2 could be excellent on Nintendo Switch 2, but it's pointless without bringing Red Dead Online along for the ride.

Not just RDR Online, but also cross save progress. I'm not starting over w my nearly 200 hours of the online. I will however consider picking it up again if I can have a purely portable version of it.

OtterX6d ago

Lol, people really don't want me to continue my enjoyment of the online I see. 🤷‍♂️

I find it relaxing, living off the land, hunting/fishing. I'd legit play it again portable if I had it available in continuation of my progress. Not asking for others to enjoy it too.

tagzskie3d ago

legit question, is steam deck not supporting rdr online? because portable gaming is years old in pc community

OtterX3d ago

@tagzskie I don't own a Steam Deck. I have a Switch 2 ordered. Easy answer.

mkis0076d ago

What a hot take!!! Cut off your nose to spite your face much?

victorMaje6d ago

Can we get a 60 fps patch on ps5 already or is it too much to ask?

Milk...get your milk...and so much more. Really when you release the same games in three editions over 15 years it's amazing how much money, and the amount of sales you earn. It's amazing how no one can compete.

Mr_cheese9d ago

To be fair, no many companies could release the same game over and over. They've earned that whether we agree or not

DarXyde9d ago

I mean Resident Evil 4 has had longer legs and still hasn't done anything like this.

Profchaos9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

GTA v isn't the only game that's released three consoles generations running but nothing has sold those numbers including GTA San Andreas which is now 4 console generations deep.

anast9d ago

Looks like a 2040 release for GTA6

gold_drake8d ago

thats insane right?
absolutely insane

rlow18d ago

No surprising considering that it’s been on every major platform and store.

I decided to look up the longest and most sold games list. To my surprise Tetris has takes the top spot.
