Push Square: "For a company supposedly sitting on its near 50 million unit install base, Sony sure isn't slowing down. Just a month after ushering in a virtual revolution with PlayStation VR, the platform holder is days away from introducing the first ever iterative console model with the PlayStation 4 Pro; the bags under the eyes of the Japanese giant's employees say a lot about all of the thumb twiddling that it's been doing these past three years."
The talented music maker discusses her process, challenges and, of course, magic!
Sony owns a fair few iconic franchises - many dating right back to the original PlayStation. But while we’re pretty familiar with the likes of ongoing series such as God of War, Horizon, and Gran Turismo, there are plenty of PlayStation franchises that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time. just to clarify, while existing PS4's can do HDR now with the firmware update, it is not at the level of the PS4 PRO.
This because the regular PS4 only uses HDMI 1.4 instead of 2.0, and this HDMI standard simply doesn't have the capacity and bandwith to fully utilize HDR, even if you have the best TV out there.
HDMI 1.4 can only really do 8 bit color, so while there might be some improvements on image quality, it is not reaching the HDR10 criteria
The PRO does use HDMI 2.0
