Definitely recommend The Evil Within! The first 2 chapters are probably the worst but it only gets better and better. : )

The Evil Within is a game that I loved more and more, as I played it. Could not recommend that game enough to people.

Loved Evil Within, still have not played Fall Out looking forward to playing.

I loved The Evil Within and I'm still not done with Fallout 4 but I might pick up Wolfenstein again because I really enjoyed it and never played the DLC.

FullmetalRoyale3147d ago

I loved Wolfenstein, as well. It's always in the discussion when I'm talking about my favorite games of this generation.
But anyway, the DLC 'The Old Blood' is a standalone expansion. Meaning you do not need to repurchase The New Order IN order to play The Old Blood.
That's me assuming you didn't already know that, of course.

Hardiman3147d ago

Yeah how was The Old Blood? I'll be getting The New Order again soon, probably Thursday.

FullmetalRoyale3146d ago

If you liked TNO, you will like TOB. It's not QUITE a sequel, but it's almost like a Fallout 3 to New Vegas type thing.
It's more of Machine Games' Wolfenstein, which is a good thing.

Wolfenstein The Old Blood is literally just a standalone expansion with a twist.

Think of it as a mesh of Wolf 2009 and New Order.

Also have to agree that Resident Evil, I mean The Evil Within was an amazing game. Had old school style "RE4-esque" mechanics, with a new age flare.

Very well done and executed, the weird widescreen view was annoying, but luckily that was patched/hacked out almost immediately on PC. The visuals and tension in that game was phenomenal, I definitely have to go back and do all the DLC on that one.

Doom. Best game this year, IMO.

I think i made the mistake of giving Mama Murphy too many chems. Because I could never get my settlement past 98% happiness, and it even cost me the Platinum.

The Evil Within Deserved More: A Great Horror Series Left Behind

The Outerhaven writes: While I hold Bethesda's The Evil Within series as some of the best Survival Horror games available, it's clear that Bethesda has no intention of revisiting the series. While Capcom is still working on its Resident Evil series, I look back at the now-dead survival horror series from Bethesda, wondering why the series was left wide open, and yet still not revisited.

An OK horror series left behind. It had some great ideas, but it never knew how to play to its strengths. Instead, it came out like just another RE4 clone.

I would love for a third entry to come out, but it needs to learn to lean in on the psychological aspect and move away from the generic "pew pew" ideology at the center of the gameplay loop. It doesn't need to abandon it; it just needs to put it into better context, is all.

Also, try a first-person perspective instead. Too many 3rd-person games with nothing to offer but an avatar taking precious screen space. At least make it an actual option and not that janky-ass mess the second game pretended to have.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil42d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
