SE knows FFXV will not meet sales expectations like with Tomb Raider hence the massive adverts.
Final Fantasy used to be "Substance Over Style" with Sakaguchi until Tetsuya Nomura took over and it's all downhill reverse "Style Over Substance".

Sam Fisher2878d ago

Ffxv wether good or great is going to do fantastic, ppl want something different so this game is coming out the perfect timing

Irishguy952878d ago

We'll see, sure this is following the crappy FFXIII.

miyamoto2878d ago

It sure is.
It still has that FFXIII DNA written all over it.

Irishguy952878d ago (Edited 2878d ago )

Not really, I mean...the anything to do with XIII story is gone
And the FFXIII devs never touched Versus or XV. Also, this one is apparently quite strategic, compared to KH that is. Sakaguchi actually met with Tabata an complimented him on it.(As sakaguchi is of the same opinion as you, until he played it)

@Miyamoto

Motomu Toriyama, the director of Final Fantasy XIII, had absolutely nothing to do with the production of Final Fantasy XV outside of a small special thanks in the credits of Kingsglaive. I'm seeing extremely little connection to FFXIII in both gameplay, level design, and theme. At best there's a vestigial connection to Fabula Nova Crystallis. If anything FFXV feels like it's worked hard at being as unlike FFXIII as humanly possible.

Swiftfox2878d ago

Except Nomura has never directed a Final Fantasy game. Nomura has only ever been main character designer or, in the case of Final Fantasy 7 and 10, a writer.

KosherNostra2878d ago

You and everyone you know will end up buying this game.

miyamoto2878d ago

No thanks. I am having lots of fun with WoFF PS4.

Easy on the oodles of pre-order DLC Square Enix

OldGuyStillGaming2878d ago

I'm ready for my play through
I have mine pre ordered on X1 store
Can't wait

dougr2878d ago

i haven't payed much attention, is this game more like ffxii or ffx?

dougr2878d ago

i guess i mean more like the world itself. Is it linear like 10 with a little exploration, or completely open like a mmorpg ffxi ffxii and ffxiv?

Becuzisaid2878d ago (Edited 2878d ago )

From what they've show, it's open like 12 initially, but towards the end becomes more linear according to Tabata.

joethetimelord2878d ago

He did also clarify that the linearity comes comparatively close to the end, to focus on story impact. Not the first time open world games have done this, so I'm not too concerned. Tabata also pointed out that you will be able to go back to the open world format from the linear segment.

And, like Nomura has said even back in 2008, the game does still seem to be playing like a mutation of the Kingdom Hearts system.

Irishguy952878d ago

Probably its the most open FF game. Seems like

joethetimelord2877d ago

Most open since IX at the very least.

Meltic2878d ago

Image seems abit blurry and there seems not to be any AA in the game. Cant wait to play this on PC and get the full experience there when it arrives in 10 years lol....

joethetimelord2878d ago

Take a look at the Gold vs Master version comparison video. The hair and other objects have actually gotten some antialiasing thanks to the 2 month delay. Still also have high hopes for the PC version. It'll be a great way to go back to the game if I ever decide to. Expect at least an extra year or two for it according to Square.

Meltic2877d ago

Not if you Watch from a distance, you can clearly see some blurry and fobby edges. Specially around the foliage and trees and specially the Hair like you said. I would rather play a truly FF experience with a non open World game and concentrate more on the story and character than Three fobby guys.

There is allso a reason why the game was delayed so many times and changed so many times. The developers did not know or was very very unsure about the game it self. Even my father thats been playing almost all FF games said that this is not a FF game anymore. Going open World is really a bad move. People want prettier Graphics, they dont care about the gameplay or the story. They all just want prettier Graphics with an open World to explore.

Really hope someone here understands what im saying thats old enough and a long time FF player since the first one.

joethetimelord2877d ago (Edited 2877d ago )

I've played every single mainline Final Fantasy (aside from the online games), and a large and expansive world has always been a mainstay of the series, including Final Fantasy XIII, albeit only at the final section of that particular game. There are many aspects of classic Final Fantasy in XV: traditional summons, chocobos, royal politics, crystals, vehicles, tents, minigames, sidequests, themes of camraderie and union in the face of impending doom, the list goes on. The game is even confirmed to narrow as it reaches its narrative climax to retain its full impact and the feel of a Final Fantasy title.

I suggest you take a look at YongYea's retrospective countdown on youtube in order to fully understand just how little this game has changed during its long development. Like it or not, this game is absolutely Final Fantasy.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion163d ago (Edited 163d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled163d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog295d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake294d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic293d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan294d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman295d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator294d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno294d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior295d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake294d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
