ScreenGurus Sam explores the impact of a great single-player campaign in first-person shooters and why it may be moving in the right direction again.
Not really give me great MP
give me both, a glaring example is perfect dark
Screw multiplayer I want Single player no single player means no buy.
Titan Fall 2 has a pretty good campaign. I haven't even checked out the MP yet because I been having too much fun playing solo. Key word being "Solo." You shouldn't have to be logged into the internet to have fun. That's one of the biggest problems with this entire generation.
"You shouldn't have to be logged into the internet to have fun" exactly this ^^^, "That's one of the biggest problems with this entire generation." Totally agree ^^ When was when you need it connection to play games like Legend of Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario World , Uncharted , Metroid Prime, Ninja Gaiden on the xbox, Splinter Cell, Gran Turismo, PGR, Omnimusha, ICO, Jet Set Radio, Doom 3, etc. just to name a few stunning games, you never needed online or patches to have awesome experiences in those games.
We need great campaign in games cause thats how a great IP is born, no freaking multiplayer only game will ever do that!, period!
? Why do you think that all games should be only single player focused? A great intellectual property can be born from any concept and any genre... Please....stop. your hate isn't needed here bud. Yet OverWatch exist, yet titles like the division and Destiny broke ridiculous records. Again... a great intellectual property can be created from any genre.
Yeah but there was a lot of hate for Division and Destiny for some parts people get tired of multiplayer games including me just give me my SP.
Don't play them... Simple. Yes people get tired of multiplayer games but people get tired of all genres in existence... Consider you might spend all your time playing a single player game in the same way someone who loves multiplayer games spends all their time playing that , it's merely a different of game taste there is not one that is better than the other, it's all subjective. "Yeah but there was a lot of hate for Division and Destiny" Because single player games get 0 hate? All games will have some form of community that has some sort of hate for them, regardless. Stop bashing genres.
I bought DESTINY for the single player content, besides the Strikes and Raids , i comlpeted all the missions solo. But yeah some IP's can grow that are mutiplayer focused games.
Battlefield, Counterstrike, Overwatch, and Rock League started as mp only IPs.
No great SP, no buy. It's pretty simple really. MP only is for the birds, no matter how many times publishers try to stress their argument.
? What do you mean Publishers? The developers are the ones that create these games. It's not some conspiracy against single player it's merely that developer has an idea for a multiplayer game. That's as stupid as saying puzzle games have some conspiracy against single player games. "No great SP, no buy" That's nice, thats for you to decide bud, you don't speak for all gamers. You could like single-player titles without trying to put down other gamers... I see no reason to hate, name call or be hostile.
Don't really buy FPS for campaign, been playing FPS since original Doom. There just isn't much that hasn't been done before and they all seem the same. The notable exception was the latest DooM
Every shooter is only as good as its campaign. If multiplayer is all you care about there's little reason to buy more than one. Campaign is where the substance is.
Reply to Skankinruby > I have been playing DOOM 2016 multiplayer for 4 months and still having a great time with it . So right now, i see no reason to pick up another multiplayer focused FPS right now . But i am interested in picking up SHADOW WARRIOR 2 in the near future for its campaign .
CODIW Single Player Campaign rocks!
No there are too many in the generation. You got COD BF1 and T2 and it's still not enough for the millennials.
I would not be surprised if the industry around SP portions of games starts to take a more backseat compared to multiplayer (already happening). Ubisoft has already proven to investors that 'games as a service', a synonym for multiplayer is high profitable. And you look at Overwatch eclipsing other games in sales with it's minimal low brow content, why wouldn't you want a slice of that pie.
Is IWs campaign that good? Haveny played it yet
