Next week, Mark Cerny will attend a media event in London to provide more details on the PlayStation 4 Pro. Among the playable games there's also Nioh.
They'll talk about the info given to Eurogamer no doubt... and show more examples.
- 16 bit (half precision) floats and the boost they can give to rendering - ID buffer and ways it's useful - The extra 1 GB of RAM - Maybe something new also - etc.
PS4 Pro is such a great idea. I love that it doesn't force itself on anyone. You don't like the idea of upgrading? Sony isn't making you do so in any way. If, on the other hand, you want to play games in higher quality, you get what you want also. The choice is entirely yours. I'm just the kind of guy who's willing to upgrade for a significantly higher resolution for my psvr and on my 4k tv so I will be there day one for this.
I feel like Scorpio will alienate Xbox One more than what Sony is doing. At one point MS stated they will allow exclusives on Scorpio which would be very much a whole new platform. Even though they took that back it remains to be seen if Xbox one will actually be catered to by devs. What Sony has done goes out of the way to ensure PS4 continues to be supported and extends its longevity.
I'm in the same boat! I love my psvr more than I thought I would! There for I'm get the pro for the boost in vr. The rest of the upgrades will be an extra surprise! I can't believe how much I've enjoyed the psvr!
I know right. Where I come from choice for a consumer is fantastic and boy do we have choices. To believe some folks have complained about all the selections we as Sony costumers have. I actually saw an article on here saying there was too much choice from Sony this holiday season. Like you have to buy it all at one time. Man crazy thinking.
Cerny will once again overstate the boost that 16 bit floats can actually deliver while neglecting to mention shortcomings by employing this technique. I find that very sad.
Sidenote: I just bought a PS4 Slim (seems pretty cool so far). I have UC4, TLOU, UCC, and Rachet and Clank. Any other recommended titles under $30?
i would like like a tattoo, what do you want ? a skull (nioh) please. i can do kermit the frog (cod). no i want a skull , okay im gunna go ahead a do kermit the frog lol
Sony is doing what they should 1. Give as much info from themselves instead of a third party doing it. 2. Lets face it We as gamers (not all) love to know the tech behind these machines. 3. Keep those on the fence that's waiting for greatness next year to go ahead and pick up the pro now. 4. Take the sting out of 6 over 4. Lets face it MS attempted the same thing with their 7 billion resistor taunt. 5. Expect this to go on for a while I'm not sure if it will reach resistor level but the more info the better.
I agree with the second point, Sony are always thinking outside the box with their solutions to stuff (potential 8.4tf with only 4.2tf, HDR without HDR XD, checkerboard up scaling method (which by the way I heard from some people that with this method it may even be possible to upscale 1080p movies to 4k with this although it wasn't officially confirmed by Sony)) unlike another company which their best solutions is sticking more power to their console and stating claims they can't keep.
Sorry buddy, but it's not been confirmed since it's not true.
I know many people think it's the same thing, that checkerboard rendering is upscaling, fact is that it's not. So if Sony says that the PS4 Pro can upscale 1080p video content to 4k that is NOT proof that it's using checkerboard rendering. Please don't confuse the two. I've already said elsewhere what the difference is but you keep thinking the same stuff...
@ PFFT
The 8.4TF is not utter BS, it's true, there are caveats and it's theoretical. All it means is that the GPU can do 2 16-bit operations in the same time as 1 32-bit one, this indeed means that it theoretically can do 8.4 Tera FLoating point Operations Per Second (FLOPS), but no game on earth can produce good results by doing that for everything. Developers can however mark variables and calculations as being ok for 16-bit and thus have an extra way of optimising their game.
So, in fact, you should be ashamed for believing things others say about that 8.4TF, you read something that it's BS, you assume they are correct, not handy without doing proper research yourself...
I'm going out on a whim and preordered the pro today. I've no 4K tv or anything but I'm just going to go with it. Sony I'm putting faith in you.... don't let me down please.
Man im in a pickle. i want to upgrade to ps4 pro, but my 1080p tv is garbage so i need to wait till i can afford an lg b6 oled 4k hdr tv. maybe by the time horizon zero dawn comes out I'll have enough for both. damn expensive fancy oled 4k tvs....
It would be nice if PS4 Pro could just make all games run at a steady 1080p 60fps with improved graphics. I think the whole 4k hype is a bit over-blown as I don't see enough people adopting that to be the primary platform. Heck by the time enough people actually own a 4k display we'll more than likely be moving on to 5k.
Im going to wait for a nice bundle.Im almost certain Pro/Horizon bundle will come at the game release and until them lots of games will get performance patchs for the Pro.Lets hope Bloodborne and Dark Souls get a Pro patch that takes the frame pacing issues from those games and finally locks the framerate...i can dream..
I'm still shocked about the ps4 pro cause part of my childhood is wishing if we could get better ps console that support the same games but with performance boost.
Curious what they'll say
a bundle with Nioh + Gravity Rush 2 will be ace.
