FGE - When it comes to quality downloadable content there are few game studios today that I can completely trust. Fortunately, From Software happens to be one of those studios that seems to always deliver on a great experience with their DLC. Because the gaming industry today is constantly pushing consumers to buy season passes (sometimes before the game is even out) it’s nice to be able to pick and choose DLC in a sort of ala cart style. When I heard Darks Souls 3 was getting a new DLC titled Ashes of Ariandel, I was for the most part intrigued being that I thoroughly enjoyed all the prior Souls DLC. As a long time veteran of the series I had high expectations for Ashes of Ariandel and unfortunately felt somewhat underwhelmed by the entire experience. That’s not to say that the DLC was bad per say, but it just didn’t have the polish that I have seen from prior From Software DLC. Ashes of Ariandel or, The Painted World of Ariandel, is a brand-new area in Darks Souls 3 that has the player exploring snowy landscapes and finding new weapons and armor while also fighting various new enemies and bosses. The DLC provides a good addition to an already great experience.
