Thats alot longer than any souls game if you don't die alot.

Hoffmann3160d ago

I dunno..the directors of these "sooo difficult" games always say the game lenght will be xx hours and than 2 days later you read someting about the game being beaten in 5 hours by a one armed guy with a Power Glove.

It's so bad....

Kashima3160d ago

No one will do that in first playthrough lol

Alexious3160d ago

You don't have to worry too much about people just rushing to complete a game. That's certainly no way to enjoy something you've been waiting for a long time.

BLKxSEPTEMBER3160d ago

From my understanding you can't just run past enemies in this game like you can in the souls series. It was reported that the enemies will follow you and there will be a mini boss that you must beat to pass the next "check point" all those adds mixed with fighting the mini boss will make for some serious trouble.

solideagle3160d ago (Edited 3160d ago )

the only difference between this and DS is: Nioh blocks the area from moving forward until you defeat the enemy. DS doesn't do that, so the ratio you die is alot in Ni-oh compared to DS.

I think they take the full length including cutscenes and everything being played not actual gameplay time. Because GTA3 was like a 25-35 hour game but people can speed run it in like 5 hours or so.

KwietStorm_BLM3160d ago

They do exaggerate a lot, but if they're saying 70 hours, then this is a much longer game in general anyway.

kranker3159d ago

Thats actually what makes them great.

My souls playthroughs are generally shorter than that on the first time and that's without dying too much.

TWB3160d ago (Edited 3160d ago )

It depends who plays the Soulsborne games.

My first Dark Souls 1 playthrough took 80 hours IIRC, and Dark Souls 2 whopping 100 hours, both without their DLC packs.

I basicly played Bloodborne first, DaS1 seconds, and DaS2 last.

And when it comes to Nioh, in Alpha I didnt even finish the map during the whole Alpha period, while in Beta I cleared it relatively fast.

ccgr3160d ago

Sounds like a good value as long as you don't rage quit over the difficulty ;)

uth113160d ago

I don't have time for that, I'll pass

Imp0ssibl33160d ago

You can probably skip some side content and clear it much quicker if you want to.

Elda3160d ago

I don't blame you if you don't have the patience which is something I don't have but I went for Bloodborne which I finished & loved, taking my time with DS3 & I'll think I'll try this one also...lol.

uth113160d ago

I've played both Bloodborne and DS3, but DS3 was taking too long, and that is shorter than 70hours I think

sullynathan3160d ago (Edited 3160d ago )

I don't know know how they will do that. The level design of this game didn't seem all that good, and for an action game that just seems really long and a waste of time.

N4G dislike brigade is here. An action game that is going for 70+ hours is going to have a lot of bloat.

Alexious3160d ago

Perhaps the game becomes more open than in the beta, allowing for some exploration?

sullynathan3160d ago

the beta was a decent chunk of the game and it didn't show much enemy variation as you would think. Saying the game would take 70 hours on average to beat is pushing it because the games that directly influenced this game did not take anywhere near as long.

Ninja Gaiden is a relatively short action game that is paced well and Dark Souls while being long can be completed in the fraction of the time that this dev claims their game will take to beat while sporting far better level design and enemy variance.

TWB3160d ago

@sullynathan

Beta wasnt a "decent chunk" of the game. It was pretty much 2 main levels and 1 optional, while the screen was littered with more locations, and it looked like there were 3 branching paths that led off screen to other parts of the land.

What Im worried about, are the amount of quality bosses the game will have. If every main level has a boss at the end (and most if not all side levels), how many of them will be throwaways? The first boss in the beta was okay, the second was pretty good. Optional was pretty much a challenge fight.

sullynathan3160d ago

then you should understand what I'm saying. If you're going to make an action game this long, you'll have a lot of throw away bosses, a lot of extra long areas for no reason and so on ..

game4funz3160d ago

I'm glad... Remind me of onimusha. Hope I does go to pc though controller is probably best for this game.

sullynathan3160d ago

not probably, third person action games were made for controllers.

KaiPow3160d ago

I still can't believe Dark Souls on PC lacked proper controller support at launch.

game4funz3159d ago (Edited 3159d ago )

I agree. For the most part controllers are better third person action games unless you have to aim a reticle... Then it evens out. As the mouse would give me more precision.

@kai
Dark souls 3 had perfectly fine controller support FYI... I played that one on pc and the elite Xbox controller worked perfectly fine with it.

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.

I love this controller. Feels so nice in the hand. Plus the battery lasts for days, it's crazy.

peppeaccardo2d ago

$100 ?????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????

1nsomniac2d ago

Yea the pricing for Nintendo peripherals is a bigger joke than the game prices. What the hell were they thinking!

peppeaccardo2d ago

i mean for a piece of slightly redesigned plastic with the same take of the last few years this has written GREED all over it ! Shame on Nintendo.

OMNlPOTENT1d 23h ago

It's $85. The standard Dualsense is $75. The Dualsense Edge (Playstation Pro controller) is $200. The Xbox Elite (Xbox Pro controller) is also $200. How exactly is $85 so drastically insane compared to those prices?

Neonridr1d 23h ago

the battery lasts like 10 times as long as a dualsense though.

Stevonidas1d 18h ago

Not true; more like 20.

You may commence with your butthurt, ponies.

fsfsxii1d 16h ago

It doesn't have analogue tho, sooo....

Tacoboto1d 16h ago

$85 USD
or $75 at CostCo (same standard price as a DualSense)

Even at $85, you're getting 3-4x the battery life of a DualSense, and it is (by a HUGE margin) the cheapest first-party console controller with Back Paddles.

The thing is, over the past decade, third-party controllers have really stepped up. You can often get better quality, more durability, and stronger performance for half the price of first-party options. Meanwhile, controllers from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have become increasingly mediocre, expensive, fragile, and not particularly impressive across the board. What makes this especially noticeable with Nintendo is that they’re surprisingly open to third-party hardware. That openness ends up highlighting just how much better the alternatives are.

Vits2d ago

Pretty much most things by half a dozen of chinese manufactures. Like, 8bitdo, Gamesir, Machenike, Gulikit, Flydigi, Manba, EasySMX, etc.

The exception would be really low tier stuff by those companies... those wouldn't be better, they would be about the same quality. But more durable.

Themba762d ago

Best controller I’ve ever used I even like more than my dual sense edge

UltimateOwnage2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Having used Dual Sense, Pro Controller 1, and 8BitDo Ultimate extensively, I am pretty much in love with Pro Controller 2. The easy reassignment on the grip buttons is such a big plus, but the soft edge joysticks are the best feeling sticks of any controller I’ve ever used. It’s really an awesome controller. The HD Rumble 2 also finally has some thud and the headphone jack is great with a pair of good phones. It’s worth the slight price increase IMO.

Profchaos1d 21h ago

The pro controller 2 for me has the best weight and size it fits the hand perfect like the duelshock 4 did imo

I actually dislike the duelsense controller because of its size but the features are amazing on it.

Still as for the pro 2 no analog triggers is surprisingly something I dont actually miss

PRIMORDUS2d ago

I have the original pro controller and TBH, I don't use it as much. I'm mostly using the Switch in handheld mode with the Hori Split Pad Compact Controller. I also never use the back buttons to program anything so I will not be buying this one here, so that will be $85.00 in my pocket 😂

Very good dev length for a AAA/AA game I'd say. Companies need to set an aim for this range. 1-2 is too little, I believe 3-4 is perfect. Any more is too much. Games don't need to be these gigantic games full of a crazy amount of content. Just make a good game.

Skate-AK3d ago

Lol. Had no idea who that was, but I will admit they do look quite similar.
