World Of Final Fantasy Review – Capturing The Past | GameInformer

The barrage of references might be lost on casual followers who don’t have the nostalgia to draw from, but that’s okay. World of Final Fantasy is aimed directly at fans with fond memories of the series’ first 15 years.

Enjoying it so far. Just got my first Champion (Warrior of Light) last night and want to get home from work to bring his chibi butt to battle! The game is really funny IMHO, with how the brother and sister always poking fun at each other. Makes the characters really likable and easy to relate to. The English dub is surprisingly good! So it is a surprise that every one (even regular NPC's in town) have voice acting. The battle system is ATB turn-based like FFX, which I miss. Quality of life things such as able to speed up the pace of everything at will in battle, even cut scenes are able to be skipped or fast forwarded is a nice addition too.

Thought the stacking of Mirages (think Pokemon) on the characters were useless in the demo, but the full game elaborated on it more and it is actually quite deep of a system. Stacking allows your Mirages (size small, medium or large) to combine their learned abilities, stats and health onto your main character. Only one size of each can be stacked and will follow the fixed position of large at the bottom, medium in the middle and small on the top. So if the characters are in their normal form (large) they would be able to stack a small and a medium Mirage on top. Now if you have a large Mirage (Behemoth for example) and want to use it, you will have to be in your chibi form so that you can ride on top of it!

Have not got much into the story, but I am getting a Kingdom Hearts vibe ( Same genius who handled that series as well) with enigmatic characters with masks, traveling to different worlds to help out and in turn get stronger, etc. If that is the case, expect some lingering thoughts after the game if he decides the plot would span multiple games. All in all, I have been enjoying the game so far and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys JRPG games. Or anyone who likes RPG games that do not mind talking animals or turn-based battle systems. Apologize for the long post, as it is quite slow at work right now. LOL.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

All-Star Franchises, Underrated Entries - Part Thirteen

Phil writes, "If you've been around SuperPhillip Central for a little while (it's still okay if you haven't, so no harm done), then you know that I like talking about underrated and overlooked games. I've done various series on the subject. However, most of the time, the games mentioned in these articles are from wholly new or overlooked franchises themselves.

There are also a multitude of series that I can think of that have one, two, or a handful of games in it that aren't viewed as highly as the others, whether just or not.

These ideas are where the concept of All-Star Franchises, Underrated Entries comes from, and since our 12th edition, I've come up with six more underrated entries to big-time franchises, some bigger than others."
