How Forza Horizon 3 became the most beautiful game on Xbox

In the age of photorealism, developer Playground Games used intricate HD sky footage and ‘sub-pixel’-detail car models to raise the bar on authenticity.

Playground Games did a great job. I can't wait too see what they do next also it's pretty cool to see that they collaborated with Rare to use tech from Sea of Thieves to make the ocean look as good as it does.

It really is beautiful. The best sky in the history of games. And Australia was the perfect location. But that's just the surface of the game. The gameplay trumps all Imo, to the point that I'm not even looking at the scenery. The amount of customisation options, both with the cars, and events is insane, there is literally something for everyone. The PR stunts were an awesome addition, the danger signs being my favorite, sometimes building a purpose built car for one specific jump. All this plus it takes place in a massive open world? Playground games must've made a deal with the devil, because that amount of talent is just not normal.

As for where do they go next? I'm hoping everyone gets to visit NZ in some DLC... Go Google "Arthurs pass" and tell me it doesn't fit the horizon universe. Snowy mountain roads anyone?

I still can't believe it only took 2 years for a game of this caliber

Everything in the game looks incredible

@Texas and Cobra obviously they have the foundation already from previous titles along with updates to the Forza engine but it's still impressive

This game is so awesome & beautiful that it's time MS made an offer to make Playground games part of Turn10 on a permeant base . Get it done MS/Phil

DivoJones2799d ago

I think they've tried, but if they're able to make enough money to stay independent that's how they choose to be. IGN has had an executive from Playground do a number of podcasts where they talked about that very topic, and the freedom to do what they want and how they want is a very powerful thing. Studios generally want to get acquired if they're brand new or struggling financially.

XXanderXX2799d ago

So far they have been able to do as they want & how they want with FH for 3 games already , besides they are still very new studio and have no other games aside from FH series
I just rather see a permeant relationship, than risk another Bioware episode .

The most beautiful racing game ever

ShadowKnight2799d ago (Edited 2799d ago )

One of the most beautiful games on PC especially in native 4K 60fps 🙌

FlameWater2799d ago (Edited 2799d ago )

I'm playing this game maxed out on PC so it's gotta be a console thing for people to believe this game is graphically perfect. Screenshots are either filtered or up scaled. The first city looks terrible and the cars look bloated with little detail. Plenty of bland textures and generic low res structures. But then again it could be issues with the port.

nX2798d ago

The bigger question is what are YOU playing? When it comes to graphics FH3 is not even within the top 5.

kstuffs2799d ago

You are probably playing PS4 version where the dynamic resolution scales to 10p.

Evercade Piko Interactive Collection 4 review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "As Forest Gump once mumbled, “Life is a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” The same is also true for Piko Interactive collections, with Piko merely being a license holder – whenever they’re involved, you never know which games are going to appear. It’s a very different case from something like Worms Collection, or the Bitmap Brothers Collection – a five game cart with three of those being iterations of Speedball. Yeah, we’re still bitter."

I really like what evercade is doing with these compilation carts. I cant quite get behind their new alpha tabletop units though... maybe they will grow on me.

FromSoftware boss addresses gaming industry layoffs

'As long as this company's my responsibility, I would not let that happen.'

Hidetaka Miyazaki describes FromSoftware's relationship with parent company Kadokawa and references Satoru Iwata's perspective on layoffs.

Hofstaderman20h ago

As it should be. At this rate the Western side of the industry will crash and we may yet see the resurgence of Japanese gaming development. Really miss the PS1 days. No bloated budgets, diverse games and many IPs that exist today are from that era. Perhaps the industry does need a reset.

raWfodog10h ago

I wish more bosses in this industry would adopt these kind of views that Hidetaka Miyazaki and even Larian boss Swen Vincke have. Your employees are your greatest asset. Once you start laying them off to satisfy stockholders expected returns, you've already lost.

PRIMORDUS19h ago

We need more Satoru Iwata type game CEOs in this industry. Phil Spencer that piece of shit will never be the CEO that Iwata was.

Why does this non-gaming news get approved while the attempted extortion of black myth wukong gets denied?

stupidusername8h ago

Don’t know the deal about wukong, but how is this non-gaming news?

Aphrodia7h ago

So the story with wukong is not really about the game itself, but a controversy surrounding it. Same with this article. It isn't about any particular game, but about the industry at large which isn't really what N4G is about. typically this site is about strictly the games and sometimes things around them. So I'm wondering, why the double standard?

raWfodog8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Probably because that story hasn't been confirmed to be true at this point. If it is true, I hope that it gets the coverage it deserves. But these day, people just spread all types of rumors and innuendo just to get likes.

Aphrodia7h ago

you are correct, the extortion itself has yet to be 100% proven, but there are plenty of facts surrounding it that are perfectly factual and can be reported on.

victorMaje6h ago

I like to learn about how bosses in the industry handle situations. It’s relevant to gaming. Afaik N4G is not just about the games but news related to the industry as well.
