Wild ARMs' soundtrack gets overshadowed by Final Fantasy VII's

Each and every track on the Wild ARMs soundtrack is marvelous, and composer Michiko Naruke should be granted the same immortal status of some of her peers because of it.

For a long time i had the wild arms intro song as my phones ringtone, the music does a fantastic job of setting a tone for the game.

LordMaim2830d ago

It still haunts me, thinking back to that anime intro. I was always saddened that Wild Arms never got the same attention that Final Fantasy VII did, even though it had a much better plot and characters.

Michiko Naruke is an unrecognised genius as she is. The main composer for the Wild ARMs series, she's written a tonne of great music for said series, which I love to this day. Wild ARMs was overshadowed by FFVII, which is too bad.

A franchise Sony need to bring back into the light was pissed the franchise never showed up on Ps3 or PS4

Vervain1518d ago

One hundred percent agree with that. I’m still hoping they bring the series back, but I haven’t held my breath for another game for quite a while.

Dark-soul1518d ago

Imagine wild arms 1 remake like ff7 for example :)

Video Game Music Spotlight #1: The Old West

VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "Each of these articles will be centered around a specific theme, whether that's a style of music, a specific console, or just something completely different. Also, at the end of each of these articles, I will pose a video game music related question on something usually related to the theme of the article, which you can answer in the comments below if you so wish. Each article will highlight between five and ten different tracks from various games, in no particular order.

With that in mind, let's start with a theme that's quite timely and relevant right now thanks to the recent release of Red Dead Redemption 2. The American old west has inspired countless different video games and produced some amazing pieces of music over the years, so let's have a listen to just a few such tracks."

PlayStation Classic will be available*1 at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 9,980 yen in Japan, $ 99 USD in North America and € 99 in Europe.

naruga2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

wow Sony is Nintend-izing a lot....still a worthy mini-console imo ...these games are pure nostalgia

XenoBoone3822130d ago

Nah, Nintendo copied Atari & Neo Geo mini...they were not the first.

wonderfulmonkeyman2130d ago

Don't tell me you honestly think that this isn't coming about precisely because of the Nintendo Classic consoles' recent success.
Please don't.
Anyone with a working brainstem knows it's taking a page from Nintendo here.XD
I mean, not that that's a bad thing, because this looks cool, but let's be real here, rofl.

@XenoBoone382 Um no, the Neo Geo Mini just came out. You're talking about the Neo Geo X.

EddieNX 2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

You have to admire Sony fans sometimes just for their sheer audacity XD

wwinterj2130d ago

Atari, Neo Geo and even Sega consoles have had these long before Nintendo or Sony jumped on the bandwagon. Still Sony is the first to use 3D games so that's a step in the right direction when it comes to these.

Drithe2130d ago

Too expensive for my taste.

darthv722130d ago

Only 20 games.... should be 25 to commemorate the 25th anniversary.

25 games that defined the og PS1. And using the non ds controllers???

StormSnooper2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

what are we implying here? That this is somehow something distinctly Nintendo, and anyone else who does it somehow owes it to Nintendo?

zaherdab2130d ago

though i think it's the success of nintendo that got sony working on this.

darthv722130d ago

Lets be honest here. When N announced the NES classic the whole collective gaming fans went nuts and started saying how there should be (insert system as a mini here). Now that others are starting to come to market, there is room for them and should not be a well they are copying them and so forth.

That is just petty and immature. I'd love for Sega to actually make their own mini systems and not go the 3rd party mfg route. Scrap the contract with Radica and At Games and actually design their own Genesis mini, Master System mini, Saturn mini and DC mini.

And on a similar subject, I'd love for Sega to enter the mini arcade cab market as well. A little 12" tall cab of golden axe or shinobi or virtua fighter would be awesome.

Stop fighting over who did what first or better or whatever and just play the damn games and have fun.

antz11042130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

So...100$ to play FF7 and Wild Arms? Ok!

I really hope it has The Did Hard trilogy and xgames

ChrisGTR12130d ago

Well this sucks. No wonder why we still don't have PS1 or PS2 backwards compatibility on our PS4.

You say that like Nintendo invented the plug and play mini systems

King_Noctis2130d ago (Edited 2130d ago )

But it is Nintendo who made the “classic” console popular though. The Atari and Neo Geo Mini sold nowhere near as much as the Nintendo ones.
