Going to see how my regular PS4 handles VR before taking the plunge into Pro

KaiPow2772d ago

Agreed. That 'higher fidelity' might get rid of that screen door effect on the current console.. I hope.

Imp0ssibl32772d ago

I think I'll just wait for the Pro and then buy both. It's clear to me that original PS4 isn't as powerful as needed to run high quality VR.

S2Killinit2771d ago

Its great on Standard PS4 as is, Im sure the Pro will make all the difference if graphics are important to you.

Goldby2771d ago

Screen door effect has to do with the screen not the console/pc running it. And psvr has the least amount due to its RGB sub pixel set up

Neonridr2772d ago

yeah I have a Pro on order, so this will give me almost a month with my PSVR to determine if I really need the Pro or not. I don't have a 4K TV so the improvements over the standard PS4 for my regular games will be not as significant, but if the Pro can really help with PSVR then it's worth it to me.

Aurenar2772d ago

I feel the same. Don't have 4K TV yet but I'll pick up PSVR soon and I want the best quality, so I might have to get the Pro too next month.

G20WLY2771d ago

That being said, the Pro could make an arguably bigger difference at 1080p with either and increased framerate, more effects, higher textures or a combination thereof. A 4k TV would only really be required for a 4k - or otherwise increased resolution - which is just one option on some games, so you get to choose your preference.

Neonridr2771d ago

@G20WLY - Oh absolutely. If devs give us an option to run at least at 1080p / 60fps for non 4K TV owners that in itself would be a worthwhile investment.

ninsigma2772d ago

It actually handles it really well! Believe it or not it works! I'll be getting the pro next month so it will be even better but certainly, I'm impressed with what they've done with the og ps4.

Frisky2772d ago

Hell yes it can. I can't wait to play open world in VR.

codelyoko2772d ago

Makes sense. PS4 Pro is technically a completely different console with dat Polaris based GPU.

Ubisoft to Focus on "Return to Leadership" in Open World Genre, Expand Live Service Experiences

Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.

enkiduxiv20h ago

Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.

excaliburps9h ago

Well, to be fair, they did pump out good open world games before. It was used as a template so much that people now know what it means when you say it's like an Ubi open world collectahon.

shinoff21836h ago

What though? I can't think of one game they had where I liked anything about it. Atleast since the ps3/360 Gen

Kornholic6h ago

If they have never been the leader in open world gaming, then explain me this: why does almost every open world game follow the same tired old Ubisoft open world formula?

Follow the Leader.

isarai19h ago

You were never the leader bro 🤣

shinoff218317h ago(Edited 17h ago)

I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting
