Hands-on Preview: Outlast II Feels Like Walking Through a Haunted House Designed for Hobbits | PUG

Adam Lloyd writes: "As the game that launched a thousand Let’s Play channels, and the title to which PewDiePie owes a significant amount of his revenue, the sequel to Outlast arrives with something that many indie horror titles don’t have the burden of; a weight of expectation. Recently, a demo of Outlast II dropped on PS4, Xbox One and PC. While the full game isn’t slated to release until 2017 (giving fans a lengthy wait before getting their hands on the finished product), at least the demo gives us a taster of what it has to offer. Yet, within the short running time of the demo, Outlast II offers you a dense plateful of reheated leftovers as opposed to a delicious hors d'oeuvres."

This review couldn't be more accurate. I rarely felt the same sense of dread as I did playing the first one. A lot of that has to do with the move from a more real, physical threat to a supernatural one. It almost felt like an episode of the tv show "Scare Tactics" or walking through a haunted house, in the sense that you aren't as scared as you should be because you know it's fake. In my opinion, they should scale back the ghosts and focus more on the serial killer stalking you.

It wasn't very scare but the first wasn't either. I did really enjoy the scene jumping from creepy village to the school back to the village. The part in the corn field got me freaking out with the lights...but then the demo bugged out and when I hid in something to avoid a guy 20 of them walked up to the barrel and stared at me, I could get out walk around and they wouldn't do anything, then I hid in the barrel again and a guy pulled me out and killed me.

It was interesting but that bug really turned me off from the game.

"Walking through" you say ? As in it is yet another First Person walking simulator type b-2 (horror variation) ?

The 10 Best Horror Games That Are Not Resident Evil

From Xfire: "The name Resident Evil is synonymous with horror games at this point. The series is basically what gave birth to the entire horror genre. However, just because Resident Evil games are some of the best horror games around, doesn't mean that only the games within the franchise are noteworthy horror games."

Is the article picture from Until Dawn? I do not remember that in until Dawn at all. Truly Haunting.

It's actually Man of Medan. I believe it has the same developers as Until Dawn.
