2016 Could Fulfill the Prophecy of Being ‘the Year of VR’, But Only Due to These Last Months

It seems that the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have only been warming us up for the main course.

PSVR makes VR accessible for the masses. I know that GearVR and GoogleVR are cheaper options, but they don't have the same line up of games. Heck even Occulus and Vive don't have the same calibre of games that you get on PSVR. There isn't yet that "killer app" on any of the VR platforms, but I'm willing to bet that you'll find it first on Sony's platform because of their first party studios and third party partnerships. Just looking ahead to games like Robinson, Frontier, Farpoint, RE7, and you can see that PSVR will be the first place to get those experiences at their most accessible and affordable.

Anyone who hopes VR will be successful over the next 10 years had better hope PSVR does well now. All signs are positive and the games line up is very strong compared to VR games before now. I'm getting one and can't wait to get stuck in!

Yes, there are some smaller games too, but they're paving the way for bigger games (also representing bigger financial risk for devs), subject to their successful sales.

People, get involved! D^)

I think comfort will play a huge role in bringing VR into the mass market; having said that this passage is enlightening:

"Instead of the Rift or Vive’s cheap straps or velcro fasteners that can leave you blindly fumbling to adjust them, PlayStation VR distills adjustments to a pair of buttons—one up front and another at the rear. This lets you position your head in a second or two, while a dial along the back lets you ratchet the headset to a snugger fit. Even the slender connection cable’s been deftly managed, appearing along the headset’s side but reinforced to extend as if from the rear, so that it’s completely out of the way. It’s like “Formfitting for Dummies.”
That’s probably because Playstation VR is the lithely machined and beveled progeny of a multi-billion-dollar global firm’s decades of consumer electronics know-how. Design like this makes you understand why Steve Jobs said he wanted to turn Apple into the “Sony of the computer business” when he returned to the company he founded in 1998."

Lol, maybe I'm becoming an old fart, but excessive violence in VR seems to bother me more than in flat games. Feels more visceral when you're looking a person in the eyes before mutilating them.

By no means am I trying to be a prude and saying these games shouldn't exist. I just play them more sparingly, need more breaks. I need some beautiful, refreshing & relaxing VR experiences too to balance them out so I don't feel so heavy.

I’m an old fart too. I couldn’t believe how violent saints and sinners was.

IMO, there's two that are better than all these (except maybe Beat Saber), Thrill of the Fight and AUDICA.
