TICGN: "The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has an interesting relationship with televised media. In the Sega Genesis era, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine was the closest thing to a game based on The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. It was merely just an American-ized Puyo Puyo, though. To a lesser extent, Sonic Spinball utilized elements of both Adventures of Sonic and Sonic SatAM cartoons. There was even to be a video game based on the latter, but Yuji Naka was dissatisfied with the mock-up demo shown to his team. Eventually, Sonic X would receive a game adaptation, but it was not in the form anyone would expect. It’s a game exclusive to the Leapster of all things."
