Destiny 2 will launch for PC, characters may be left behind - reports

In all honesty if they rebuild ground up, again. Im cool too, im alittle pissed about all the money gone, but if its for the greater good for the game on doing what they were supposed to do from the beginning i dont mind

The lore is awesome, they need to bring it into the next game. The sequel needs to back off pay walls too, that's what turned me off the first one. I pre-ordered it and lost interest and now I can get the actual game for base price 2 years in..

I have a feeling they may have to if the engine is as difficult to develop for as rumored. If they have to run a new engine things aren't likely to carry over.

If it's that hard to add content (as has been well documented) they need a new engine. I mean Bungie employs 500-750 people depending upon the source. Imagine if you had that many people employed for your construction company but they had tools from the early 1900's.

The new information looks very promising. Hope they can finally deliver what they promised. Although I love Destiny and am playing Rise of Iron, I can admit they really botched several key elements. Looking forward to the next chapter.

it will probably be something like mass effect where the game recognizes you played the others and you can carry your save over but can start a new character. great news to see it finally coming to the pc.

If they force us to leave our characters behind, then I fail to see the point in buying it. Honestly, there really shouldn't even be a Destiny 2. Destiny has basically become the World of Warcraft for consoles, and telling people that all the money they spent on DLC, and the time building up their characters and weapons was all for nothing is just a huge kick in the balls. They need to continue expanding and building upon whats already there. If that means one massive expansion every 1 - 2 years, vice a few small ones a year, then so be it.

If Destiny 2 has to be a thing, then they need to allow at least one character to carry over. Otherwise, a lot of people will be pissed, and I'm definitely not gonna be a buyer.

If they improve the overall game then whether or not the character can be brought over will not be an issue for me.

It would be like starting fresh in a better game.

I don't see why they couldn't carry over the characters. I'm gonna be pissed if they go back on their word. I don't need to play the same worlds available now but I'd like to carry my characters over at least

The way I've read this information is that your character will carry over as far as aesthetics but not all the gear, shaders, and emblems we've been hoarding. I think it makes sense, the game needs a fresh start.

It really does need a fresh start, but we don't know if they will continue the same issues found in Destiny 1.

As someone who has played a bunch of destiny but has criticized it from its launch, I hope they leave the characters behind.

Destiny as it is is fairly complete now but destiny 2 needs to avoid the same problems that its predecessor has had to suffer from.

First off, they need to make every activity (strikes, raids, PoE, and even patrol) flexible with its power cap so that after every new update or DLC could constantly update the light system or whatever system they decide to go with. Even though the Vault of Glass is my favorite raid, I see no point in playing it with the armor ranking being so vastly different from what is new with The rise of Iron update.

Also make the patrol more open and make the side quests more enjoyable than just some grindy fetch quests.

I disagree.
I think the game should have a way to setup raids, like a tower specifically for people looking to run a raid. A Raid lounge.

Matchmaking in a raid with randoms would be horrible. In a lounge you could see everyone wanting to go, have restrictions like gear, light level, experience etc.

It's not just that raids might be too complicated for randoms, it's also the fact that people have lives. They have things that come up and they might not want to leave their spot and then they force everyone to deal with their inactivity. They could also be trolls who intentionally screw things up or just very annoying people. And a system where you could vote to remove people would probably be abused.

I don't think matching, the way it currently works in crucible or strikes, would work for raids.
It would have to be an in-game version of one of those sites like destiny lfg.

I never minded the grind aspect of Destiny, always gave me something to look forward to accomplishing (one of the biggest reasons the game can be so addictive). But my biggest pet peeve was that gamers who prefer solo play missed our on all the neatest, and best gear/weapons.

Would show some real talent on Bungies side if they could somhow make all weapons and gear available for everybody equally without sacrificing the challenge (or time spent) needed to obtain such items.

if my character is left behind...destiny will be left behind. Character progression (Same Character and items) thru the WHOLE destiny series was a HUGH selling point for me. On top of that, Bungee has already said that this will be a thing. False advertising in the gaming industry is becoming a big thing.

May have to jump on this when it comes out. Never got into Destiny but it always looked fun. Hopefully Sony won't go out of their way to write blank checks for times exclusivity.
