Wild Arms - A nostalgic look at one of the best RPG series ever

"So, I wrote this huge article about "Wild Arms" just now. Well, I don´t regret it one bit. As I really love the "Wild Arms" series, and this is the reason why." - Phil Weigel, TGG

Great series, would love to see a new game.

Snookies122758d ago (Edited 2758d ago )

Definitely miss this series, it has such potential... (Come on Sony, please revive this series!) I still consider Wild Arms 3 to be one of my favorite PS2 games, and go back to play it every once in a while.

Simon_the_sorcerer2758d ago

Is there even such a thing as a Wild Arms collection or such? Because I can´t find anything like that anywhere :S

littlezizu2758d ago

Wild arms 3 is available for ps4 as ps2 classic with trophy support. Support it and sony might considered new entry. FYI it took me 52 hours of gameplay to platinum it

Snookies122758d ago

@littlezizu - Oh trust me, I couldn't resist grabbing it up on PS4 a while back. Hopefully it will have enough sales to motivate a revival of the series.

Littil_Devil2758d ago

So do I =) I have also noticed that a lot of RPG fans have requested a Wild Arms collector´s box to be released, and that´s something that I would love to see in the near future. Especially since I don´t own all the games in the series.

Simon_the_sorcerer2758d ago

I would buy that collection on day 1. As it´s a great chance for me (and others) to get a chance to play through the Wild Arms series.

fenome2757d ago

That would be awesome

Simon_the_sorcerer2758d ago

In that case, then I hope the game gets released for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Littil_Devil2758d ago

I agree, and it would be a very foolish move not to make a new Wild Arms game that´s not a multi-format title.

littlezizu2758d ago

Wild arm ip belong to sony if you want new entry support Wild arms 3 as available for ps4 as ps2 classic with trophy support and enhanced graphics. FYI it took me 52 hours of gameplay to platinum it .

nitus102758d ago (Edited 2758d ago )

Not going to happen since as "littlezizu" said the IP belongs to Sony although there is always a possibility of them (Wild Arms 3 has) coming to the PS4.

Even so, Wild Arms 1 and 2 are for the PS1 but will play on any PS2 or PS3 and Wild Arms 3 and 4 are PS2 although they will play on the original PS3's as well. You may find it very difficult and in some cases quite expensive to get the original disks although it is possible to put a green parrot on your shoulder and play them under emulation.

@littlezizu

It's a few years since I have played WA3 but if I remember rightly there was a particular dungeon that was in the order of 100 levels and you could exit after each tenth level if the going got tough and it did. The problem was this dungeon was randomly generated and if you exited you had to restart at floor 1 again and everything had changed.

Sort of reminds me of the Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne although some are fixed (the first couple) but depending on your ritual some could be a nightmare to do.

nitus102758d ago (Edited 2758d ago )

There is Wild Arms 4 (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... ) that was released for the PS2 in 2005 although I did not see it until 2007 and by then I was playing PS3 games. Unfortunately, the game was also the same price as AAA PS3 games so I gave it a miss.

There even was a Wild Arms 2 (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... ) that was released in North America on April 30, 2000. I never saw this myself but I already had a PS2 and was only interested in PS2 games anyway. This is why I missed out on Legend of Dragoon and Final Fantasy 9.

There is also a Wilde Arms 5 (December 14, 2006) for the PS2 that I never even saw in the shops.

I did get Wild Arms 3 (March 2002) for my PS2 and when I eventually got a PS3 this was a game I actually played on it and it still looks good on my original PS3.

I´m one of those people who never got a chance to play any of these games :S

slappy5082758d ago

Wild Arms 3 is one of those ps2 games that have been added on the ps store, so you can play #3 if you have a ps4

Littil_Devil2758d ago

Oh, thanks for the info =) I didn´t know that. So, how about the other games in the series? Could one buy them via PSN as well?

Simon_the_sorcerer2758d ago

Really? I have to check that one out, because the original games are rather expensive nowadays...

slappy5082758d ago (Edited 2758d ago )

Just checked on my vita yes wild arms 1 is available to play there too
Of course if you have a vita because it's BC with a lot of PS one games. I don't see wild arms 2 tho.

Littil_Devil2758d ago

I´m sorry to hear it, I own the first two titles in the series. So I would like to own the other games as well.

Simon_the_sorcerer2758d ago

I just checked Ebay and amazon, and most of the games cost quite a lot of money :S

Ah, I had no idea about that either. Sadly enough no :S That´s why I would love to see a complete collection for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

slappy5082758d ago

Yes a collection you can play on 1 platform would be nice, I have only played #3

Littil_Devil2758d ago

How much do you think a collection with Wild Arms 1-5 + XF should cost? (via digital download).

FallenAngel19842758d ago

Wild Arms is Sony's longest running RPG series.

Miss_Vixen2757d ago

One of the most underrated and my all time favorite JRPG. I had fond memories of playing the games, especially the first one. I hope they will revisit the series and release another entry for the current consoles.

Review: GameScent - Now you can smell your games | KnowTechie

KnowTechie writes: "The GameScent is a unique way to add immersion to your games. Thanks to its HDMI and 3.5mm jack, the device is versatile, so you can use it across your consoles and PC. However, it would be great to see a new range of scents since there are only six, and many smell similar to each other."
