Mojang and Microsoft announced today via a now-deleted Tweet on Twitter that Minecraft will be the first true cross-platform game between Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.
Hardcore Gamer: In the midst of Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference, the major publisher and console manufacturer announced that Mojang’s massive sandbox title Minecraft would have full cross-platform play. Starting today, Minecraft: Realms, thanks to what’s known as The Friendly Update, will allow Xbox Live, iOS, Android and PC players to all play together thanks to dedicated servers. These dedicated servers will also allow players to host their own worlds, potentially hindering the current server system.
but but but, what will the fanboys say? their typical "sony is blocking it" wont work.
Will cross platform play include every other platform that this game is on as well including 360, PS3, Vita, & Wii U?
Either way it sounds like PS4 can add XO to the long list of platforms it does cross platform play with.
ON SECOND THOUGHTS, THAT DELETED PIC NEVER MEANT CROSS PLATFORM PLAY. They were just saying that game can be enjoyed on various platforms but people misunderstood so they had to delete and tweet with a new pic
Good news!
Sounds good but only by the Minecraft server renting thing. I wonder if I will be able to chat to my friend who is on Xbox while am on my PS4 version?
