Driveclub VR Price Confirmed But It Isn’t Clear If Existing Owners Will Get It Free

The launch title's price is the same in both dollars and euros.

SniperControl3186d ago

As a owner of DC, i dont mind paying £15-£20 for the VR add on, but i'll be damned if i'am paying £40 for it again, but going by other games that will be getting a VR add on for free or for a reduced price, i can see the same thing happening with DC as well.

Only three more weeks!

Definitely a discount fopr existing players since what they are adding is great but not worth another $40. $20 is fair to me.

-Game modes: Online virtual reality multiplayer race modes and an action-packed single player career are joined by drifting and time trial challenges.
-Tracks: New and classic Driveclub tracks are brought to life through the power of PlayStation VR, including five all-new Urban locations.
-A closer look: More than 80 cars are recreated with immaculate detail for players to explore up close with Inspection Mode.
-Cruise control: A little time to kick back, open the throttle or just coast and explore any track, in any country at your leisure in Cruise Mode.
-Virtual passenger: An immersive thrill ride through exciting replays of hot laps as players watch themselves handle their greatest challenges from a unique viewpoint in Passenger Mode.

Wow! Thats what I call adding value! Its definetly worth paying 20 bucks if you already own the game.

bouzebbal3185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

I will be surprised if it's free. Pacific rift owners didn't get 3d rift for free.
Articles are becoming so pointless.. Proves how much the writer knows about the studio's history

Liqu1d3185d ago

It'll probably be £29.99 without a discount. Dollar and Euro are always the same, Pound isn't.

JunkieJedi3185d ago

Closer to £35 given the current value of the pound I reckon.

Errorist763185d ago

Pound is closer to the Euro than ever before.

Angeljuice3185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

@Errorist

Not even close, it was 1.11 Euro's to the pound a decade or so ago. It still has a way to go to beat that.

pompombrum3185d ago

Problem with if they charge £15 though and they do try charging £40 for the standalone (they really shouldn't) who is going to pay £40 when you can buy the game second hand for like £5-£8.

ion6663185d ago

They can patch the game easy. It should be free for existing owners since it is the same game with a different view angle. I wont pay for a camera angles you guys are insane.

Liqu1d3185d ago

"same game with a different view angle"

Not really. Extra work had to be put in to make Driveclub VR compatible, it's not as simple as you seem to think.

S2Killinit3185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

Technically it SHOULDN'T be free. They didnt advertise the game as VR. They added the VR functionality afterward and put work into it. But if they decide to give it away for free, then more power to them.

Ps: VR isnt a simple "camera angle"

Gamist2dot03185d ago

It would be awesome to have it free for existing DC owners, but if they do charge for it and the reviews are great, I'll get it and consider my payment as a donation to the devs for their great job.

LackTrue4K3185d ago

How much are the head sets running for?

And all this add in sounds great!
Will probably end up getting a steering wheel too if I get the headset.

They've already confirmed the new tracks will be given to existing owners for free: http://www.vrfocus.com/2016...

yarbie10003185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

Tracks are free - but if you have PSVR you still have to buy the game if you want the VR https://twitter.com/Rushy33...

Downvotes don't change facts. Deal with it :)

Forn3185d ago

Honestly, this makes sense from a business standpoint. People could go out and buy the basic game for cheap and receive the VR upgrade for free if they did it that way. They want more sales, and honestly, deserve more sales.

UCForce3185d ago

Do you really think it everything to be free ? There are free and paid. We can't just live one way another.

UCForce3185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

It's not just the fact. You get downvote for downplayed PS article way too much. Let us handle the situation, not by you. For existing owner, you get it for 20$.

SpaceRanger3185d ago

@Yarbie1000
"Deal with it :)"

Deal with what? Having a new gaming experience this holiday, tons of VR games on top of the already released and soon to release exclusives for PS4, while everyone else waits...well...don't mind if I do(:

Eonjay3185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

You do realize that this link has nothing to do with VR right?

Edit: never mind I see it. So, if you have a season pass you get a discount. Thats good enough.

Wasn't this the same website that covered the news that the vr tracks will be made available as a free update for existing owners? Now they say it is unclear? Ahh journalism

Mr_Luke3185d ago (Edited 3185d ago )

They repeated many times it would be free. Check on the official PS blog. Unless they change their mind at the last moment...

Here, found the tweet too:
http://www.playstationlifes...

EIDT: ok, misunderstood. The tracks will be free. While the whole DC VR will be discounted for the people who bought the season pass.

Liqu1d3185d ago

The new tracks will be added to the base game for free, not VR support.

StormLegend3185d ago

Sadly I won't have VR until later next year. I gotta save up for a PS4 Pro and 4K TV

IMO, there's two that are better than all these (except maybe Beat Saber), Thrill of the Fight and AUDICA.

Literally, the vast majority of these games aren't flight simulators. Don't write about what you don't know.
