Yakuza 6 Won’t Have Load Screens on Playstation 4

Carl Williams writes, "It is the bane of gamers ever since the CD-ROM revolution took over for cartridge gaming. Load times and load screens. They suck, plain and simple. Early on though, they were much worse because the technology was so new. Developers just did not understand how to work CD-ROM’s the way they can with today’s hardware. Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi has gone on the record and said we can kiss load screens goodbye with Yakuza 6 for the Playstation 4 console."

I'd appreciate if more games used clever ways to mask their loading screens

I think Capcom holds the record for best method of hiding load times when they released Resident Evil on the original PlayStation.

Well for me the opening door sequences were at least as annoying as loading screens.

I don't get why people disagreed. Not only was it a great way to mask loading but it was used in latter games to build tension (usually when there is suspicion of monster activity behind it) and even scare players by having the door bursting open revealing zombies at rare occasions.

Platinum did with Vanquish which usually launched a small cut scene which goes in first person until the new level is loaded.
