It's Nintendo turn now that Microsoft and Sony are out and I can decide which one to upgrade too.

FloydianAndroid2935d ago

No one wants Nintendo to make a glorious comeback more than me, but I feel like it's almost a certainty that the release date is going to be pushed to later in the year. If it was really dropping in 6 months there would be a reveal and more concrete facts about it by now. So either they have completely abandoned marketing the console or they don't have anything concrete to show at this point.

wonderfulmonkeyman2934d ago

I know where you get that idea from, and I don't completely disagree, but at the same time I think they also might be waiting until close to its release to announce it so that the excitement has less time to settle before it hits the open market.

FloydianAndroid2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

part of me wishes they would forget trying to come up with gimmicks and just make a console with a regular controller and a vast library of amazing games. Can you imagine if they started remastering or even rebooting Classic nes or Snes games? It would be pure gold. Not to mention all the new games they could come with from Mario, metroid, donkey kong, etc. they could easily compete with the other consoles if they just concentrated on great software and competitive hardware.

wonderfulmonkeyman2933d ago (Edited 2933d ago )

But if they did that and made the system look and feel just like the competition, those that own those other consoles would make that comparison, and just decide to keep what they already have, instead of getting a Nintendo brand console that's basically the same thing they already own.

Copying the competition won't help Nintendo get ahead as far as consoles go.
I wish it WAS that easy, but the GC proves specs and a traditional controller aren't everything as far as Nintendo are concerned.
For better or worse, they're different than the others, and copying is far less guaranteed to sell consoles for them.

For Nintendo, "purely traditional" hardware is the furthest thing from "competitive" hardware.
They need a hook with their hardware that will resonate with, and feel "cool" to, older and more serious gamers.
Going backwards by only sticking to traditional features would only make them blend into the crowd, and would sacrifice any attention they could get at the same time.

They should have brought 2 since it is a much more complete experience

Feels strange to release now after Dragon Quest Builders 2 has been available for so many years. It was good for its time, but DQ Builders 2 improved on it in so many ways. I'd have a harder time going back to the first one now.

TGG_overlord237d ago

You are correct...So I don't know the thought proecess behind this move...Besides an easy money grab.

OtterX237d ago

I do hope they make a 3rd in the series, so I'll support this easy money grab. I really enjoyed DQ Builders 2 especially. :)

I'd like to see them bring in more advanced building concepts, like Minecraft's redstone machines. I much prefer playing w non-blocky characters, w this Dragon Quest feel.

UltimateOwnage237d ago

Awesome! I love the first game.

ZeekQuattro237d ago

Odd choice. The sequel is better and more realized in every way.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

LG_Fox_Brazil276d ago

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64275d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga275d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic274d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits275d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake275d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex275d ago (Edited 275d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

babadivad275d ago (Edited 275d ago )

It isn't...
