My tech-loving gaming-obsessed brain says yes, it's definitely for me, but my sensibly run bank account says no. I have one ordered. I only have a 1080p Projector that I game on. To me it is worth it for the beater visuals it will offer over the standard PS4. As a bonus I can let my son have my original PS4.
No, you don't need it. In fact you don't need any console to be able to live, neither a TV, a computer at home, the latest phone and whatnot.

You don't NEED either 4 consoles. You can just stick to the OG XB1/PS4.
Some people though, want better performance and good visuals. So you must understand that those exist too.
