I think sony ps4 will have more than 50 percent market share in the US by 2018. The ps4 has been a big success in the US and has been outpacing the xbox one most months since the systems launched in 2013. If sony prices their new consoles at an attractive price point ( ps4 slim, ps4 neo) i think theyll increase sales momentum and gain over 50 percent market share within a year or two.

As much as I love sony bro. I think that's a little too optimistic. I almost feel with your comment you're just looking for vote's. God knows what's going to happen Nintendo but the Xbox has been given the PlayStation a decent run in North America PlayStation will come out on top but for it to have 50% of the market share is just insanity unless if you think Nintendo is completely dead and only going to have 10% of the North American market share but then the Xbox would have 40% of the market share and let's not forget about Scorpio I'm very excited the same as you and everyone else for the Neo announcement today and I plan on getting a Neo as soon as humanly possible but let's not start the flame War

Doubtful, NEO,and Scorpio are due out next Holiday, and Nintendo NX is due in March, and will no doubt have the definitive edition of BOTW, which will no doubt be a GOTY contender.

I mean Scorpio will be backwards compatible with XB1, but it is a completely new console, and Scorpio games are not going to work on XB1, I assume the same goes for NEO.

I have PS4/Wii U, and am a little disappointed in what seems like a generation cut short, with the exception of Wii U, its only 7 months shorter than Nintendo's typical hardware cycle.

I sure as heck am not switching to PS4S, with Neo coming next year!

You are out of your freaking mind!!!
Xbox consoles would have to literally stop selling for that to happen. Microsoft is only almost 2 million behind.
PS4 is at 14 million and X1 is at 12 million, you really think they could have, let's say 30 million to X1's 14 million?

Chevalier3169d ago

I think they meant the total of the 3 systems. PS4 is 14.2 million and XB1 + WiiU is 18 million total. That's about 40 % of the market currently. If Wii U sales drop off because of NX it actually would potentially climb to 50% of the market by 2018. It seems possible.

Imo in a lot of cases lifetime console sales even out close to the midpoint of a gen, I feel like people end up buying into other consoles as well, as pricing goes down on consoles and the games library available on them increases, still waiting on this gen's essential/platinum/gold equivalent collection of games, games are/stay expensive where I'm from.

X1 has really closed the gap sony for having such a large lead in the beginning has really dropped their ball, which sony has not had many great first party games this gen.

Spenok3169d ago

Actually the Xbone has only outsold the PS4 a handful of times in the US since launch. So the gap has been widening since day one minus those few months the Xbone came out on top. Either way, US does not = the world, and PS4 has literally outsold Xbone world wide every month since they both released.

Trez12343169d ago

Closed the gap where? Because in the US the lead has always been small. Worldwide, hate to say it but xbox is irrelevant. By the way, if Sony hasn't had many great first party games this gen, what you gonna say about xbox?.

You guys will never understand why playstation is trusted by gamers. I'm playing God eater 2, never played the first one and I'm loving it. This is what makes playstation special, games galore and alot of genre.

playstation 14 million x1 12 million look at the npd records for 1 year ago much smaller gap, also Ive got a ps4 which I enjoy buthey they are very lacking when it comes to first party games sorry to say but you keep living in ur fanboy world there im sure it makes you feel cool.

The U.S. does not make up the WORLD there Mr. Genius. The Xbox brand hasn't been making up any ground at all. Even if the X1 beats PS4 by say 200,000 units in the month of August, they are still get slaughtered in Europe, Japan, Australia and the Middle East. Hell even here in Canada the PS4 is outselling the X1 by a decent margin and continues to do so.
