Solid month! Journey is a must play for any PS gamer. In my opinion, it is hands down the top indie game from last gen. Lords of the fallen, another great game for the PS4.

They really stepped it up this month!

As much as I'd love to see GR:Remastered as a PS+ game as well, if Sony did decide to give it away it would probably use that game as a free bonus for picking up GR2 within a certain amount of time.

That being said, I'd love for it to be a November game...So people can play it for a month leading in to the early Dec release of the sequel

By "this" I mean is one AAA game and one indie for Ps4, and still good games for Vita and Ps3, games are subjective and not every game will be of our liking, but a diverse lineup of "small" and "big" games is at least for me, the way to go.

I have got Lords of the fallen on physical copy it's a great game. Its like dark souls and it's quite difficult. If you havnt played it yet your in for a treat.

Actually kind of excited for Datura and Amnesia:Memories. The latter is one I was looking at a while ago to curb a digital novel itch I was having.

If they manage to keep up games like this though, then come Febuary I'll consider renewing...so I hope this isn't something just to tide over the upset surrounding the price hike.

Journey is a masterpiece that I highly recommend everyone at least try. I was tempted to buy lords of the fallen several times so I'm happy with this months games overall. Hopefully the price hike of playstation plus means months like this will start becoming the norm.

I have both on my Amazon wishlist and flirted a few times since they are so cheap. Really the only thing holding me back was a current backlog of games yet to finish and not enough time to play as it is. I really couldn't justify spending more money on games that I probably wouldn't have time for at this point. Now I can just get them and not feel guilty about it :)

Agreed. Hope it's not a temporary move to tide the upset over the price increase, or make it more appealing just going through the holidays where most people would be looking to renew or buy in.

This is like it used to be almost every month on the PS3, and it's why I was happy to see it expanded to PS4, and even marginalized the paid online paywall because I saw a lot of value in PS+.

If Sony manages to keep delivering though, then fair enough. If that's what it takes to get better content, then it's what it takes. Online paywall still sucks though.

Have to kind of agree with this, when you stop paying for ps plus those 'free' games are gone. Its still a great deal considering how many games you get to play during the year for the price you pay, but calling them free is not entirely accurate.

I was about to say. Never skip a free game! Just add it to your library and don't download it until you want to play it.

On PS3 you have to at least start the download, but you can stop it, cancel etc and its added to games you own. You don't need to fully download it to have it added, but never skip it. You can't get those games back once you've skipped them the following month.

I do it, even with games I don't really care for only because I don't know what might change. For all I know a game I looked over might be really good and I might want to play it later on.

I add everything, even if I think I'm not ever going to play it. Even stupid avatars and themes I care nothing about. Never know what might come one day. Doesn't cost anything beyond the sub, and maybe cluttering up one's download list. Even recommended people get the games they don't have systems for....because you never know if you might have them one day, or if maybe one day BC or PSNow will make it possible to play them, or what may come.

If you use their regular website and not the store front, then you can just add it to your cart, and it'll go into your library in the store. No need to download....plus it's a lot faster than surfing the PS3 PSN Store. Plus, I don't think the Vita, PSP, PS1, or PS3 titles show up on the PS4 for purchase.

Don't remember it being offered, but if it was, I probably added it. I played it on the PC because a friend had it. Felt i should if I was going to criticize it. I have no desire to play it again, even for free.

Funny you should say that, I was just starting to play both Shadow of Mordor and Lords of the Fallen again this week. Both good games, I really enjoy them both. You really should give Lords of the Fallen a shot, Edmix. I think you may find yourself pleasantly surprised. Just give yourself time, don't rush to judgment until you've downed a few bosses. :)

It's not great, but pretty good all around. Solid experience that is fun enough. If you like Dark Souls type games, then you'll probably like it, although it's more forgiving at times.

In any case, it's free if you have the sub, so might as well try it out.:)

Yep, still a good game. Can't hurt to try it out. A lot of the criticism was ill-deserved for it back on release, and a lot of the downratings were more people trying too hard to call it a Dark Souls ripoff. It has it's flaws, but nothing which should make people avoid it.

At this point I'm remote playing on my Vita more often than playing Vita games. It's such a great handheld that would've deserved the 3rd party support the NDS or PSP had.

Amnesia Memories seems to be in line with what attracts a lot of US Vita owners though. Most of it's base is now those into the niche anime type games. It's also a pretty good digital novel from what I've read, so I'm pretty excited for it since I looked into getting it a while back but decided against it for just moving into a PS3 game I've been wanting to play.

Badlands actually is a lot of fun in a weird sort of way.

If that's the case, and it isn't that good, or isn't to my tastes, I'll be disappointed. not in the offering of it, just in the actual game itself.

I like those niche within a niche games, so while I can concede it may not be for everyone....even if it weren't otome....it's still something that at one point had my passing interest.

Won't kill me to try it though. Don't care what people would say if it was one of the PS4 offerings. It wasn't, and I'm willing to give it a try without any pre-conceived notions on what to expect.

In any case, I always liked that PS+ offered up things which may not immediately attract me to a game. I can think of quite a few IP's I got into based on just trying them out.

I like a lot of the Vita's Japanese titles, I own Steins;gate, Zero Escape and both Danganronpas. But Amnesia is an otome game, a visual novel with dating sim elements aimed at girls, it's a niche within a niche and if this game was one of the PS4's choices there would be an uproar.

Trust me I'm all for Japanese Vita games on Plus, but this title is alienating a large portion of people where as something like Journey can be enjoyed by anyone

That's where the catch 22 lies w/ all of these arguments about sub services offering "better" games. We all understand that these services can't afford & publishers wouldn't want to give up brand new AAA titles on release, so we accept older titles, but the "better" games of the past are games most of us have already played. Sure there will be the stray title here & there that you were always curious about but never picked up but that'll be the exception to the rule w/ most core gamers.

This is why I was kinda cool w/ Sony offering newer indies over older AAAs...I think moving forward they should always push for 1 older AAA & 1 newer indie, that way people will get more mileage out of the offerings while pushing new experiences for gamers that they may not have otherwise had.

More like 1 indie, 1 established. I don't think many folks want "AAA" as much as they merely want good or well received. Pretty sure lots of AAA could fall under bad games. Its nice to have a less known game for free as many games I would have NEVER bought, I really liked. I'm getting Outlast 2 now day 1 because I got the first 1 for free. Would have never bought it, but after beating it, I'm really looking forward to its sequel .

I'm fine with 1 independent and 1 established, higher budget, rating etc.

Most people think that just because they never heard of a game, that it isn't a good game. I'd say that a good number of the PS3 offerings of mid-tier to AAA game offerings were mostly games that not everyone played. We got the big ones which a lot of people played from time to time, but most of the time it was one's that went under the radar for many.

Things like Lord of the Fallen would be one such case. Good game overall, but not something that lit up the charts. Journey had cross buy with PS3, so many people will have likely played that since many people brought it on PS3. The offerings on the other systems, outside Prince of Persia which was a pretty popular title as I recall, would be more in the indie side, with Amnesia:Memories being one of those games that kind of flew under the radar with more production value than the typical indie, and even offers something different than the typical offerings of rather simple indie games in the platformer or adventure category. Things like that are why I liked PS+. WHile I like digital novels already, some people shy away from them, so if they can try them out with a sub, then chances are that more people will get into them, and it can drive more interest in the genre.

Because even if a lot of people have played a game, there are still going to be more that haven't played it. Not everyone plays every AAA game that comes out. Sure, if all they offered was the highest profile AAA game, then chances are, those of us who discuss such things would always feel like we're just getting what we already got, but there are more subscribers than there are people who discuss it monthly, and very few games, even AAA, come anywhere close in sales to the number of subs that exist.

Most of the more impressive offerings which people seem to be interested in are things like Lords of the Fallen. Games which people probably heard of, but most never played. LOTF never really lit up the charts, nor got much hype during it's release, so chances are, many people haven't played it. It's a solid game, and while it may not excite people to see it, they can come to like it if they try it out....which is one place where I felt PS+ was really strong in by bringing more light to less known titles. The really big AAA games on the PS3 offerings were really few and far between. Mid-tier or low hype releases were more typical.

From what I've seen, most people don't complain about a game being offered they already played. just look at Journey comments above. People say it's a great game that everyone should play. While not AAA, it certainly was high profile, and a game that many played. Most of the time, people say that they've already played it, so it's not as meaningful to them, but are OK that others can now try it out. If PS+ or GWG offered games every month that someone played, or most people played....then yeah, I can see them eventually becoming disgruntled, but I have never seen anyone say that they've routinely offered games that they've already played, because that would be a highly unlikely scenario since the higher profile games cost more to actually put up there, and it's not reasonable for Sony to be able to offer those each month.

No. They had it as cross play with PS3 purchases, so when it released on PS4, those that brought it on PS3 digitally were able to get the PS4 version for free....and that would have consisted of a lot of people considering it was one of their highest selling digital only titles. I think they offered Flower for free at one point though.

Well, you could try the Nioh Beta (it's free) since that, unlike the Alpha version has a training introduction although you can skip it.

In the Alpha version of Nioh you literally start the game without any weapons but your bare hands which are pretty useless against anyone (read everyone) who has a weapon. That is not to say you can't win but it takes a long time. It's a bit like beating the werewolf at the start of Bloodborne with your bare hands. It's doable assuming you don't make a mistake.

Not sure I will like Journey although I will give it a try but I have been debating if I should get Lords of the Fallen so this looks like a good month for PS+ members who like those types of games.

I own both Xbox One and PS4. Xbox Gold gave Lords of the Fallen not long ago. I had Journey on PS3. So I got it free for PS4 a while ago. I no longer own a PS3. So another lame PS Plus month for me.

At least I'm getting Earthlock: Festival of Magic and Forza for free on Xbox One. I've never played either of those games. I'm also getting Mirror's Edge 360 and thanks to backwards compatibility I get to play it on Xbox One. MS is doing it right.

Sort of, Sony made some poor choices regarding their free offerings that is effecting many Sony users. For example choosing Journey. A game most users had on PS3 and automatically got free on PS4 a while back for owning it on PS3. So I guess the 15% left that didn't have it get it free. Lords of the Fallen was a bad choice given that Xbox One had gotten it free not long ago. They know many gamers own multiple systems but still decided to choose this game as a free title. Then there's giving free PS3 games that can't be played on PS4. Less and less people are owning the PS3. PS Plus is a mess and then they have the nerve to increase the price.

ok so Jounrye was owned by most users on PS3 and those of us who upgraded to PS4 already have it now. what about the 360 players who switched to ps4. should sony just forget about them and focus on the players who already owned a ps3 game thast been remastered?

and so what if LoTF was given away for free a while ago on Xbox 1. not all ps4 players own xboxs (myself included, don't see value in it) so thers those people who may never have tried LoTF.

You are complaining about people getting ps3 games for free, when Xbox is doing the same thing, giving last gen games for free as well. only difference is you can play them on your current console, where sony players just have to press source. (mines still plugged in)

Everyone hasn't upgraded yet, so both companies are doing the right thing by supporting last gen still with free games.

FYI Mirror's edge was free for all PS owners one year and a half ago.
Also usually its more often than not the other way round that many games on Gold were already on PS+ before. People with only one console shouldnt miss a good offer because it was on other consoles before.

Lords of the Fallen is actually a really solid title. I bought it for $60 on release and didn't regret it at all. Def a must play for fans of the genre.

If you wish to play on-line from the PS4 or the XB1 you either have to pay for PS+ or "Live" respectively. If you don't like the free games or the discounts well no one forced you to buy a subscription.

Yea, well it wasn't always like that with PlayStation. Online was free (still is on PS3). The real advantage to PS+ was the free games, which were actually some good AAA titles. Excuse me for liking THAT version of PS+ better and not being happy for the higher price DOWNGRADE. Now if you are okay with Sony's current version of PS+, kudos to you - that's your right, but as a long time PS+ subscribers, I'm not - and that's my right.

heres a though blakhood, if you like the ps3 ps+ era more, go back to it. as Nitus said no one is forcing you to get ps+ for ps4.

and gues what, Journey is a better game than most games out to date. just because its indie, doesn't mean its automatically bad. it won awards, praised with 9 and 10/10.

People say journey is tragically short... ignore that, Journey is one of the most masterfully crafted gaming "journeys" of all time, scrap that term "gaming" its one of the great journeys told across any media form! Its actually borderline a piece of art from start to finish!

This is a decent month, lords of the fallen on PS4 is a title I'd not have picked up, so now I get to... kinda what PS Plus should be about, potentially great games you missed out on, and pop up as a nice bonus for having Plus!
