Phil Spencer talks candidly about missing out on both Destiny and Guitar Hero
So you're saying that Microsoft has missed out on so many huge gaming franchise in the last 25 years from GTA exclusivity to guitar hero and destiny it's just laughable they had so many misses
Best deal deal in gaming must be when Sony bought Insomniac for 229 million dollars. They made over 800 millions on Spiderman for the ps4 alone. Thats just crazy!
another Interview?
how is he the only one who loves the spotlight as much as he does lol
Let's not forget he also famously passed on Spider-man, Genshin Impact and GTA3.
However it's almost kind of cute how he can keep that sh1t-eating grin and say he's a 'no regrets' kind of guy, especially when you think how much just these 5 titles could have swung the world in Xbox's favour instead of Sonys.
How he's kept his job I don't know, he must sure be keeping Papa Nadella's shaft warm somehow.
"But, but Gamepass, he introduced that!!!"
Yes he did, and now look at Xbox, all it's exclusives are coming to Playstation now rendering the platform obsolete.
Not comparable...... I would say closer in comparison would be a more open world game like Skyrim..... Some of my problems with games like Destiny is the glass ceiling or wall effect to prevent players from doing what should be possible to do but the devs didn't want to spend the time to create art to make the scenery more believable as to why I can't do something in game that I am capable of doing...... it breaks the immersion........ I remember being able to do stuff in Skyrim that I thought would not be possible (like climb over mountain areas and take short cuts from the path) but was able to do it and that was awesome and made the world feel more open...In games like Destiny, Call of Duty, Bayonette, Metroid and Zelda.... etc following the same path over and over again does feel limited and not open.
With Uncharted I had issues with immersion, as I was able to do these incredible jumps (distance) and grab ledges that are near impossible to grab but I'm in town and I have a shorter jump to a balcony or other areas I could stand and I cant even make the shorter jump or even grab on to the railing or ledge that definitely is more reacheable? How about Skyrim or Zelda where there are barrels I can't break but other's around are easily breakable?
In Destiny's defense what saved them was a fantastic graphical engine that ran pretty smoothly and had incredible draw distances and for the most part no real server issues that interfered with game play..... For instance.... a Game similar to Destiny but came out before Destiny - Defiance - a much less linear world/map than Destiny and there is nothing like jumping in your vehicle and following a large group of people in their vehicles going from destination to destination to battle together and not having to join anything or talk to anyone and don't have to take the linear path to get to the destination but I enjoyed Destiny more than Defiance because Defiance's graphic engine is horrible and server issues are often with Popup everywhere and draw distances for Defiance where not that great.
Destiny is a different game than what was first advertised when the game came out and not all for the good.....
However the changes in game like nerfing of items/weapons that don't make sense, plus overbalancing of characters in the game to the point that it really doesn't matter what class you play in Destiny (it's more for style than substance).
Yet Destiny as a game was not ragged on as hard as No Man's Sky for not delivering what was advertised in the beginning... Other games have done this as well and belong to bigger studios with bigger budgets and did not get their heads chopped off as much as No Man's Sky. Basically everybody is picking on the little guy (studio). No Man's Sky is not the first or will be the last Game Studio to not deliver right out of the box.... However, Hello Games has promised to update and add even add more to the game (even change focus from exploration to other things) so let's give them a chance like the gaming community has given chances to countless other studios..... No Man's Sky is suffering from content (common issue in open world games) but that is no different from other games Like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen (which in Star Citizen's defense is not Officially released). Each started out with limited content but chose to focus on different aspects of game play when starting out with the promise to add or change focus later on.
Everyone needs to chill..... This Dev from Destiny shouldn't be spending time bashing other choices made by other studios when their choice also has very apparent flaws in the design/gameplay.
Peace
