DriveClub VR: What Videogame Racing Should Feel Like

DriveClub VR could become the racing experience PlayStation 4 gamers had always been hoping for.

IRetrouk3212d ago

Yeah it looks fantastic, this, gts and a few others are gonna be well worth the investment.

LackTrue4K3212d ago

I believe that is will be the next step for all racing games. Vr support, much like mostly all racing games support racing wheels. This need to be the next stander.

This game is looking impressive!

Scatpants3212d ago

I'm not even buying Forza Horizon 3 unless it has VR support .

SniperControl3212d ago

Been playing games like Project CARS and Asseto Corsa in VR for years now, will never go back to playing those games on a 2D screen anymore, VR is a massive game changer, cant wait for DC and GT Sport on PSVR.

rainslacker3212d ago

Same here. Between GT:Sport and DC:VR, I am on the fence on which one I want to try first. Despite DC rocky launch, it's become a pretty amazing IP, and kind of sad that the studio got shut down, but at least Sony is still pursuing the IP.

Not sure I can handle two different racing games at once. I tend to get into them for longer than the average game when I first play them.

So excited, loved driveclub so cant wait to play this version.

Silly Mammo3212d ago

This could be a VR system seller.

Tobsesan3212d ago

Project cars can already be played via VR, saw noone hyping that up.

iwin863212d ago (Edited 3212d ago )

Because Driveclub VR was build from ground up with VR in mind.

Digital Foundry's author played a lot of racers and according to him Driveclub VR is the most immersive
racing game. Even before Project CARS and Assetto Corsa.

Scatpants3212d ago

It's no different. You're in the car in VR. Same thing.

Eonjay3212d ago

@Scatpants
"Simply put - this is the most immersive racing game we've played in VR to date. From Assetto Corsa to Dirt Rally all the way to Project Cars, it's clear that the gorgeous visual design of the original DriveClub allows the game to stand above its more technically demanding peers. It's a classic case of software design triumphing over hardware limitations."

Hopefully that helps...

EpicSandwich3212d ago

He's testing it against real bad racers though. Wait until forza 7 drops with occulus support then you will see a real racing game.

MasterCornholio3212d ago (Edited 3212d ago )

Not on PS4. So that leaves Driveclub VR and GranTurismo Sport VR.

You do know this is an article for PS4 gamers right?

@bruce

Eonjay posted after I did. But his quote makes it even more exciting. No wonder people are excited for Driveclub VR.

Oh man.... the PSVR detractors are going to be working overtime come October.

joeorc3212d ago

What interesting, this is just one game...there is another fact people asked are Sony going to support the PSVR...?

PSVR exclusive / Multi-platform games list.

This List of games was Posted by [swordfish ]
Who was kind enough to post it on Vgchartz.

Over 116 games already confirmed in the works.

Of which:
43 are - exclusive
4 are - timed exclusives
Of which 27 release this year
Of which 3 release in 2017
Of which 68 are TBD

I think this answers that question handedly.

TwoForce3212d ago

You don't get it. Driveclub VR is build from ground up.

MagicBeanz3212d ago

Maybe because that's NOT what video game racing should feel like.

rainslacker3212d ago

I never see people hyping up Project cars that much around here with or without VR.

Maybe it has more to do with the IP?

I prefer 3rd person view cause it easier but for fun vr with a racing wheel would be awesome.

3212d ago
rainslacker3212d ago

I tend to use 3rd person, because I feel the lack of being able to tell where your car is on the track makes it harder to know when to actually turn into a corner.

VR gives you the sense of depth perception, and positional awareness that is missing from a 2D display showing a 3D image, and greatly improves on this.

Played VR racing games at work, and I can say, the reasons I find most distasteful about 1st person or cockpit view in the typical way we play, are all but gone with VR. It's really completely different in terms of overall sense of surroundings.

IMO, there's two that are better than all these (except maybe Beat Saber), Thrill of the Fight and AUDICA.

Literally, the vast majority of these games aren't flight simulators. Don't write about what you don't know.
