Greenberg: "Look for us to share more on Project Scorpio next year"

GRTV had a chat with the Xbox marketing executive.

I'd say look for us to share more on that next year. Really we're focused on our games lineup, things like Xbox One S and all the things we're delivering for customers this year. We feel like we have a really rich offering and its great to see things like Xbox One S already being sold out in a lot of markets. We're seeing really strong pre-orders for a lot of our top games this holiday like Forza Horizon 3 and things like that".

Basically, when you lose interest in Forza, Gears of War, and Halo.......your X1 is an media app only console. I took a gamble and jumped on Quantum Break. I like that they gave me episodes I could watch and it fitted pretty good in the game, while your doing your play through. I thought that was something really different and out of the bag new, I haven't seen a game like that before. Decent game, not game of the year by any means. Rise of the Tomb Raider is pretty good. It does pretty much everything I wish Uncharted did and vice versa of course. But those are the only two games I have bought for X1 in the past two years.

If Microsoft would bring out some new Ip's that interest me. I would take a glance at the Scorpio in the future. Which Microsoft may very well be working on those. Sea of Thieves I probably can't get into very much. Same with Recore. Scalebound looks pretty average. But to some those may be there Game of Year, to each his own. Crackdown 3 I'm thinking is going to be the most overrated destruction game we have ever seen. So it takes multiple minutes to bring down one building..........so if I'm the enemy......I'm jumping ship before that happens and guys are going to be waisting there time dropping buildings with no enemies inside. Just doesn't look like it would be much fun.

Pretty much that's why I'm so interested in Neo/Sony at the moment. There Ip's are just more me I guess. Uncharted series, Bloodborne. I also have a feeling we will have another From Software exclusive deal going down in the next year with Sony. Like they have twice in the past and maybe more before Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, only ones I know about. Naughty Dog isn't cutting ties with Sony probably ever and their the best linear games I've ever played. Tomb Raider is a close second though.

I have been an Xbox Live Gold account holder for seven years now and I'm not giving that up anytime soon. Yes, even if I'm not buying games I still want all the Gold features and free games, so I will renew of course, for now. I'm not finished with Quantum Break yet and Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC is along the way as well. But I just need that new IP from Microsoft. Without it, the Scorpio would be pointless sitting on my shelf.

Sorry to see nothing coming from MS interests you. It's probably best then that you do go with Sony and their Neo.

hells_supernova2798d ago

To be fair he has a point. And those of us who have gaming PC's there is not reason to buy an xbox one s outside of media applications.

Overall this generation has been extremely disappointing overall from both sides. I remember the start of the 360 Mircrosoft brought some many great games then they just fell into halo, gears forza. Sony started out the opposite and were terrible then in 2012 they release an exclusive AAA almost every month.

This generation has seen none of that. I think both console manufacturers and Publishes were not prepared for the success both the xbox and the playstation would have this generation.

@ gangsta_red

I've been gaming on Xbox for a long time, since the original. Maybe something in the future, atleast I hope something in the future from them. I like having gaming options in life. I don't like being restricted to one console though or I at least didn't like it in 2013. That's why I got a PS4 six months after the X1 I bought at launch. Exclusives is the worst part about the industry in my eyes.

Its really pretty much only going to take a couple games for me to purchase a Scorpio down the road. For X1 it was games like Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome that sold me the console in the beginning. PS4 for instance, all it took was The Last of Us: Remastered and The Order:1886 trailer for me to buy a PS4. Even though.........I haven't even finished The Order:1886 yet. Its an okay game. Looks great. But a very average linear title at best. I did pick up some greats down the road as well, Bloodborne, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a steal for what you get. Uncharted 4 is breathtaking at times and the mp is pretty good. Probably my favorite mp title at the moment.

I'm sure I'll see something in the next year from Xbox. I know they probably have some big exclusive titles down the road for the Scorpio right off the bat. Which would be a great selling point for the console.

@hells_supernova

I think it has more to do with the state of developing HD titles for current consoles. Development takes longer because gamers expect everything to be high end and shiny. Not to mention a lot of games now have budgets that almost rival big Hollywood summer movies so that also limits developers taking a chance with new or more IP's. The potential to bomb and loose everything is greater now then it has ever been back with the 360 and PS3.

@esmittystud101

That's great, I also have both consoles and in my opinion both have something down the line that I can't wait to play.

Maybe I misunderstood but your comment sounded like nothing MS has offered or have shown for the future excites or interest you unlike what Sony has shown.

I do agree that this gen has been disappointing in terms of games that blew me away especially compared to this same time when the 360/PS3 was out. We haven't seen anything to groundbreaking or different and every game coming seems to be delayed by a year or two.

I honestly don't even understand the excitement for these new powerful consoles when developers can hardly get a game out on time as it is.

EpicSandwich2798d ago (Edited 2798d ago )

I dont think you realise (if you like souls games) that all of them are playable on xbox one. Dark souls 1-3.

Notorious
Would you rather have to switch between two consoles or conveniently play them on one?

NotoriousWhiz2798d ago

But they're also playable on the PS3/PS4, so that doesn't count as a reason to get an Xbox One if you already have a PS3/PS4.

esmittystud1012797d ago

@ EpicSandwich:

Dude, I wish I could play all of them on one console, I really do. I bought a brand new PS3 two months ago just for Deomon's Souls a PS3 exclusive, since PS Now doesn't offer it in the states (but it does in Japan). I lost total faith in Sony ever offering a B.C. deal like X1 does. I bought Dark Souls on Xbox 360 brand new for really cheap, then plugged the Xbox 360 back in to purchase/download the DLC for it. Then I played the game using B.C. on X1. I bought DSII: Scholar of The First Sin on PS4 because it was really cheap as well. I of course played Bloodborne all last year on PS4. When it came to deciding what I was playing Dark Souls III on, it was pretty simple. I play on a 55" LED so I went with the PS4 version because 1080p>900p, highier resolution is always going to win when I'm playing on a 55" LED. If I had a spankin gaming PC I would have got it for that, but I don't have that kind of money, LOL.

But when it comes to From Software, they have ties with Playstation. Out of the five Souls games two are PS4 and PS3 exclusives and soon to be more later. I have a feeling From Software in the next year or two will release a new PS4/PS4 Neo exclusive just like they have in the past.

Bigpappy2798d ago

Exclusive are good to have, but way overrated as the reason people buy a console. Features, comfort and power end up being more important, as most gamers buy multiplats over these touted "Exclusives".

"Look for us to share more on Project Scorpio next year"

Did anyone expect more info this year already? I didn't. Nothing is final yet and am sure they are eagerly awaiting what Sony is gonna show this year too so they have plenty of time to make changes...

rainslacker2798d ago

No, but I'm glad he clarified they have plans to talk more about it. I was really having my doubts that they would share anything this year or next, and would just release the system quietly with no fanfare.

Aenea2798d ago

😀

Or maybe it's already released and we just don't know it yet but they won't say anything until next year! 😊

freshslicepizza2798d ago

why would they just release it next year and not talk about it before that? we all know it will be the main talk at e3 next year.

NotoriousWhiz2798d ago

@rainslacker, like the PS Neo?

Make your next GPU upgrade AMD as these latest-gen Radeon cards receive a special promotion

AMD has long been the best value option if you're looking for a new GPU. Now even their latest Radeon RX 7000 series is getting cheaper.

Father__Merrin1d 16h ago

Best for the money is the Arc cards

just_looken1d 15h ago

In the past yes but last gen amd has gotten cheaper and there new cards are on the horizon making 6k even cheaper.

The arc cards are no longer made by intel but asus/asrock has some the next line battlemage is coming out prices tbd.

Do to the longer software development its always best to go amd over intel if its not to much more money even though intel is a strong gpu i own 2/4 card versions.
