No Man’s Sky Getting a Patch That Will Make Players ‘Very Happy’

Hello Games is working on a patch for No Man’s Sky on both PlayStation 4 and PC that creator Sean Murray says will make some players “very happy” when it arrives. “Awesome day at Hello Games, we’re going to make some people very happy with a PC and PS4 patch that’s in test right now,” […]

Great news for NMS players and potential buyers. Would be nice to know what it is though.

LordMaim3237d ago

Don't tell me what will make me happy. Show me what it is, and I'll judge for myself!

...seriously, is it Bases? Its too soon to be Bases. Or is it? Dammit TELL ME!

RememberThe3573237d ago

Isn't speculation what started this whole mess in the first place?

KiwiViper853237d ago

Ye, Sean Murray should be banned from twitter

Kribwalker3238d ago

A version of the game that doesn't consistently crash?

alfcrippinjr3237d ago

all games crashes on ps4 or pc
nothing new in that

lunatic00013237d ago

I agree...I know games crash but I have never had a game on me crash as much as this game...ever

SniperControl3237d ago

I had it crash once on the first day, had to restart the PS4, but been fine since with around 25 hours play time.

Aenea3237d ago

That would be awesome!

@alfcrippinjr
All games crash, true, but this one crashes way too darn often, in one play session of 4 hours yesterday it crashed 3 times.

It needs this patch, STAT!

_-EDMIX-_3237d ago

@luna- well the problem with that notion is that it's very subjective , some people have experiences where the game crashes more often than not.
Out of playing the game for about 40 hours it's crashed on me 3 times I've actually had Battlefield 4 crash on me more times in less period of time when it first released ,even The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 , even Metal Gear Solid 5 once crashed on me.

The number of times a game will crash on a user is very subjective and some people have a higher degree of it happening to them than others.

If you haven't had a game crash on you that number of times it really means that it's kind of personal to you, that has very little to do with the overall game as it just shows that you haven't had it happen to you often which might merely mean you haven't played other games to the same degree upon release.

The first time the game crashed on me was actually the third day after release and I had already been playing for around 30 hours or so.

But I know people where there a game Crash the very first day. I installed it on my friends PlayStation 4 to show him the game and it crashed on him literally during the tutorial it just happens at different moments for people

nveenio3237d ago

My son has had the game crash for him multiple times on a certain planet. He quit going to that planet. Aside from that, there have been no other crashes on NMS in my house.

gamerswin243237d ago

Funny enough i have a day one ps4 and NMS hasnt crashed on me once. Out of curiosity at what specific point does the game crash for you or its just random crashes that happen at any part of the game?

probably mostly bug fixes.

UKmilitia3237d ago

maybe players visible and the amount of people per server increased?

joab7773237d ago

Problem quality of life improvements that people have been whining about like stacking items, inventory management etc. Personally, I like it the way it is. If you spend any time at all, you won't have inventory or survival problems.

Oersonally, I'd like to see them cut back on the availability of mats in general, as they are too abundant. Also, if they are gonna make it so you can board things, I wanna see the survival elements be a bit harsher on certain planets. Have some easy ones, and some horrible planets that you really have to work at to explore.

One of my favorite planets had gravitino banks everywhere, but each time ya pick one up ya got attacked and on your way to sell them ya get attacked. I lives this.

Also, I'd like to see bigger and bladder enemies as you get stronger...more risk.

That and base building. Imagine if they add this and eventually allow you to invite up to 4 people into your world.

Its too early for that, I just hope they don't make it a hard fest because of all the crying. It will ruin it IMO.

nix3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

in the beginning, i was collecting everything i see. now i know what i need to survive. my 15 slot exosuit is pretty much empty because i know what exactly i need to survive unless i find very expensive rocks. i did mining once. made some money. i still am trying to find a wrecked plane with more slots than i have currently (still using the first one).

once you get the grip of the game and how it works, you can easily survive and travel around.

about inviting friends to your world... it should work, like how it works in the real world. they should be in the near proximity, they shouldn't just appear in your world. if they are billion light years away, they will have to warp etc.

Errorist763237d ago

I assume MP. And/or base building

The_Kills3237d ago

How can that honestly be "great news" then?

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR3237d ago

One thing I will say about Hello Games in a positive light is they are really quick at versatility in response to bug fixes and patching. From when they went gold until they passed cert they have patched the game immensely. I also like how The president/ceo responds instead of someone we don't know. I like the indie aspect when it comes to gaming.

REDGUM3237d ago

They are adding more planets. Apparently there aren't enough. Lol.

XanderZane3237d ago

They added multiplayer and the ability to fly your ship anywhere you want now? That probably would make their fans happy.

Doubt that very much, apparently people were expecting a heavily detailed MMO with a deep story where you can see 18 quintillion planets that all look completely different. Basically nothing the game was ever supposed to be, not to mention completely impossible.

Servbot413238d ago

I just wanted to be able to see my friend. Even if we had to book it to the center and fly to one system to the side of it in order to finally meet up.

_-EDMIX-_3237d ago

So you wanted something that was stated several times that it wasn't going to be?

Ummmm ok.

GrimmyReaper3237d ago

@_-EDMIX-_
Eum he actually DID confirm you could play with your friends
There was an interview where they just simply asked like ... 70 questions? And one of them did say that

ChronoJoe3235d ago

@EDMIX Yeah over a year ago. The fact that the back of the box and the listing on PSN say that there's no multiplayer wasn't a giveaway? Anyone who bought this with the idea that they would be able to play the game in multiplayer was intentionally ignorant to the information available over the last 6 months.

Vegamyster3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

"apparently people were expecting a heavily detailed MMO with a deep story"

I haven't seen anybody say or mention that they thought it was supposed to be like that, this whole argument that they told us what the game was and that's what we got is not 100% true, the game was shrouded in mystery for years and the devs were very quite about what you'll actually be doing. Recent videos are popping up comparing different interviews/footage showing that they clearly made certain promises/statements which weren't true, maybe it was features they wanted but couldn't finished them in time ranging from being able to see other players, intelligent AI or seeing large creatures causing havoc ect.

DanteVFenris6663237d ago

I've seen a baby trex and a mom trex chasing down other animals in my play through. It's there that feature ain't missing.

No A.I. Is intelligent. I'd like to say it could be better, but better how?

Skankinruby3237d ago

Uhm I've seen hundreds of people and critics complain about those very two things. Saying crap like 'it's a huge universe with nothing to do' or 'they lied we were promised we could play with our friends'. Heavily detailed....mmo......deep story.

Vegamyster3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

@Skankinruby

Sean Murray told us we could play with friends and there was a chance of finding other players, it's not the peoples fault for HG's either being too vague or making contradictory statements: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

There is nothing wrong with saying the narrative is weak, it doesn't have to be deep to be good but the one they included is primarily a couple lines of dialogue at a time.

iceman063237d ago

I don't think that Hello Games was being purposefully dishonest. I DO think that they had bigger ambitions than what could be delivered on time AND they were placed under a microscope like no other indie developer I've ever seen. I think that they did a good job of showing you exactly what you were going to do, while keeping the mystery about possibilities alive. THAT might have been seen as misleading. But, every developer does that. That's part of PR talk.
In the end, I've seen some strange and funny things. I saw an aggressive animal with a spiked shell actually charge at a smaller animal...miss...and completely wreck a drop pod. I've also seen a sentinel (the bipod) get stuck in a crowd of medium sized animals and trip over. Reminded me of the Ewoks and Star Wars. Speaking of which, I've seen Ewok-like creatures. They weren't as furry, but their skin pattern suggested it and the facial markings looked like the fabric on a hood.

No theres been straight up lies, nice try though.

R00bot3237d ago

Like when he said you could play with your friends, that other people could see you, that there were competitive elements, etc.

Perjoss3237d ago

Lol i know right, people actually thought a 10 man team could pull off something that even a 200 person team could not.

Its all about being realistic, just because a dev is a bit quiet about the gameplay, no need to go filling in all the blanks with crazy ideas.

mogwaii3237d ago

Im going on things he actually said.

R00bot3237d ago

But Sean Murray literally said there was multiplayer, competitive elements, and that other players could see you.

It Shouldn't Take Expedition 33's Success to Remind Square Enix That Turn-Based Still Sells

TNS: Expedition 33 was the wake-up call Square Enix needed, telling it turn-based RPGs are still popular, but that shouldn't have been the case.

True, but if it does get it through their thick skulls, then that works.

Although, the Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD remakes will be turn-based and (the worst kept secret) Final Fantasy IX remake should be turn-based I would imagine. Let's see if any newer games go turn-based too.

thorstein2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

DQIII HD Remake was turned based and very successful. Then there was a really obscure turn based game came Balder's Gate 3. I heard it might have done well.

Profchaos2d ago

I wouldn't be shocked if they switched ff to the vii remake combat system

PapaBop2d ago

It won't get through to them though, despite E33's success, they still won't risk going fully turn based for their big budget projects simply because they are still in the mindset that it needs to be action combat to appeal to the mainstream audience. I hope I'm wrong but don't underestimate just how stubborn Japanese execs can be

barom1d 19h ago

Ya'll are hyping up Expedition 33 too much. Reminder that FF XVI sold 3 million in a week and it took Expedition 33 approximately a month to get to that (33 days to reach 3.3 million).

While it is true that Sqaure Enix has moved away from turn based games compared to how they were in the past, there is a good reason for it.

Older gamers will know this but during the ps2 era, we were flooded with turned based games from Japanese studios and this created a form of fatigue back then going into the next generation.

When Square released FF13, they received heavy criticism for making the game turned based like every other FF game and not doing enough to innovate. This is why they made FF15, FF7 Remake and FF16 have real time combat. It gave the series a fresh spin and has brought in new fans to the series.

I personally would be happy with either turned based FF or the real-time combat version we see today.

Shane Kim2d ago

Remake and Rebirth have "turn based" if you set it in the settings.

Lexreborn22d ago

Dang wish I saw your post before I made mine because we definitely feel the same way lol

Profchaos2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Yeah hit the nail on the head but its like ww2 games we get hundreds of them then a decade of nothing and people start missing them i think we're going to start seeing them return

Claire, dragon quest even yakuza have seen turn based return

Runechaz1d 14h ago

Every Pokémon game is also a Turn Base RPG.. and selling millions

andy852d ago

Only need to look at their own game DQ 11 approaching 10 million to show there's a market. And that's not as big of a name as FF

Runechaz1d 14h ago

you can also look at the Pokemon game number

Tacoboto2d ago

Another article about Expedition 33 and Square Enix and turn-based games? This is starting to sound like propaganda.

The game didn't sell because it's a turn-based game; it sold and is enjoyed because it's a really freaking good game that released completed at a good price without gamer drama attached to it. No Mtx, no wait-until-it's-patched, minimal bloat, a self-contained story, no multiplatform BS. Just a solid original game that absolutely nails what it intended to do.

Redemption-642d ago

I was just about to say the same thing.

anast2d ago

This comment should have a 100 upvotes, at least.

CrimsonWing692d ago

Maybe try actually listening to the fans who have supported the series for decades. This habit of ignoring your core audience just to chase people who were never interested in Final Fantasy in the first place makes no sense. And when that approach fails, doubling down on it is beyond baffling.

The battle system has never been the main reason non-FF or non-JRPG players stayed away. Gutting the series’ identity to chase a broader market doesn’t attract new players. It just alienates the loyal ones.

Keep going down this road and we’ll end up with Final Fantasy Fortnite abomination or a F2P Battle Royale game.. Oh wait…

Sony Faces Class Action in the Netherlands Over Allegedly Inflated PlayStation Store Prices

Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation in the Netherlands has filed a class action against Sony for inflating PlayStation Store prices.

dveio4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

My personal opinion:

Manufacturers and publishers have indeed inflated the industry.

From $700 million development costs for games like Call of Duty, to digital (store) prices for games and DLCs, online multiplayer fees on consoles (why can you play Helldivers 2 online for free on PC but not consoles?) or still preventing sell/lend digitally purchased games.

Sometime in the future, this bubble will collapse.

They should know better, but they just can't help themselves and suck even the last penny out of our wallets.

BeHunted4d ago

Because Sony knows people will be forced to pay those prices for single player and multiplayer games, not everyone prefers PC gaming. Sony also has a monopoly on PlayStation digital games. In 2019, they stopped allowing retailers and game key sellers to sell PlayStation digital games, making them available only through the official PlayStation Store

anast4d ago

The Dutch gov. wants a piece of the pie.

Eonjay4d ago

They should be suing the individual publishers increasing the prices to $80 instead of suing the store. There are plenty of publishers still selling game for like $50 with much success (like E33). But this proves that the publishers are the ones setting the prices.... so again nothing changes because they aren't even going after the main offender. How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD? Sony being the number one store in the market doesn't mean that publisher have to charge us an arm and a leg. Again the industry is laughing at us because consumers never get real representation. Just these fake platitudes that are meaningless.

BeHunted4d ago

"How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD"

Because Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly, I can purchase Call of Duty at a huge discount from CDKeys or other gaming retailers. The only way to purchase digital PlayStation games is through the PlayStation Store.

djl34854d ago

Weird, I swore GoW, Stellar Blade, Horizon Zero Dawn, TLoU, etc. were on the steam store....uh.....

BeHunted4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

@djI3485

I'm talking about PlayStation games that you can only purchase on PlayStation. I can purchase Steam and Epic games from 3rd party retailers and key stores.

"Sony to stop selling full-game download codes at retailers"

https://www.videogamer.com/...

Killer2020UK4d ago

About time. There is zero fair reason why digitally distributed products that you cannot recoup any value when you want to dispose of them, should be priced higher than that of physical copies that entail all of the costs and the benefits of owning.
