The 3 most frustrating things about No Man’s Sky

Through countless hours of research, large amounts of 2am caffeine pill dosages, and unfathomable sacrifice, MONG scientist Tyler Fischer has come up with the definitive, scientific, inarguable list of the three most frustrating things about No Man’s Sky.

I have issues with this game, for sure, but the only one I agree with here is unstackable items. But with my forty-three slots in my inventory(my friend has forty-eight), I don't really find it an issue NOW. But it drove me nuts until I got that slot number up. At the same time, that progression feels rewarding, and without it idk if it would add up the way that the game does. I think the last suit upgrade I bought was 330,000 units! 😞 I don't want to spend my money!

TylerFischer3236d ago

Yeah getting the slot numbers really helps -- still frustrating design though. But it does follow the standard survival inventory system, it's just not for me.

FullmetalRoyale3236d ago

I totally get where you are coming from. It gets better, but I imagine it can be a real slog for a lot of people.

joab7773236d ago

It gets a lot better. At first, I would worry all the time, now I don't at all.

Got the game today I'm on my 4th planet and my biggest annoyance so far is the small amount of inventory slots you start off with. I presume the upgrades are easy enough to stumble upon like the game tells you how to build a warp drive or??
That being said this game is friggen addictive. I haven't spent this much consecutive hours in front of a screen in I don't know how long.

pyroxxx3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

The biggest problem I have is that you cannot sell/trade your ship,.. (you (better)can dismantle shit before changing (to at leas get some materials back,.. strongly advise you do that with guns also),.. but damn it sure would help and lessen impact on changing vessels budget

2. They really don't explain how things and upgrades should be connected to get extra benefit from them (basically when the upgrades are of the same type they should be adjacent to the thing you are upgrading,.. ) Still don't exactly get what goes with what especially with suit.

joab7773236d ago

Try getting upgrades for ship and multitool out in the universe. Ya could try and save up 20 million, but I prefer finding and fixing ships.

cyber_daemonx3236d ago

@joab, yeah there are crashed ships all over you've just got to know where to look. I'm on my 3rd fixed up ship and probably found about 4 more. Must've saved a fotune lol.

1. Obtaining an Atlas Pass. I'm all about "Souls" type games that make you guess. But obtaining an Atlas Pass or how to is pretty bad. Not hard. Just set up bad. Souls gets it right and the way they do it though.
2. Does stacking inventory items even work? 250 person.....500 ship......? Never been able to even stack one item yet.

Hello games is young and will learn and this game will improve through the years.

Aenea3236d ago

You never managed to mine more than 1 Plutonium (or any stackable material) to the same slot? Seems implausible...

Pongwater3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

Yeah I question whether you have played at all if you haven't managed to stack one item.

Also, obtaining an Atlas pass lvl 1 is incredibly easy.

Two things have bugged me about the game so far. Not having a path visible on the galactic map so I can easily return to where I've been if I want to, and having to go into my inventory to recharge my shields during a space dogfight. I guess going into my inventory to make more ammo during a ground fight falls into that latter category as well, though I usually keep track of how much ammo I have left so it's not usually a problem.

I'd also change the amount of plutonium used to lift off. As is you get 4 per tank and I'd change it to 10.

joab7773236d ago

Yeah, while I agree slightly I don't feel that any are a hindrance. Inventory management quickly gets much easier to handle. I'd hate if you could just heard tons of shit. I would be pissed actually. The progression is nice.

And movement was odd at first, bit once I remapped the sprint to R3 and grabbed a couple mods for jetpack and sprinting, it was fine. Similar to inventory and mining, modding actually makes it a lot better, as it should.

Again mids help with dogfighting too. I was getting murdered at first, bit now I can kill 10 ships at once without much of an issue. I actually want more

Sony Faces Class Action in the Netherlands Over Allegedly Inflated PlayStation Store Prices

Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation in the Netherlands has filed a class action against Sony for inflating PlayStation Store prices.

dveio1d 8h ago (Edited 1d 8h ago )

My personal opinion:

Manufacturers and publishers have indeed inflated the industry.

From $700 million development costs for games like Call of Duty, to digital (store) prices for games and DLCs, online multiplayer fees on consoles (why can you play Helldivers 2 online for free on PC but not consoles?) or still preventing sell/lend digitally purchased games.

Sometime in the future, this bubble will collapse.

They should know better, but they just can't help themselves and suck even the last penny out of our wallets.

BeHunted1d 6h ago

Because Sony knows people will be forced to pay those prices for single player and multiplayer games, not everyone prefers PC gaming. Sony also has a monopoly on PlayStation digital games. In 2019, they stopped allowing retailers and game key sellers to sell PlayStation digital games, making them available only through the official PlayStation Store

anast1d 8h ago

The Dutch gov. wants a piece of the pie.

Eonjay1d 8h ago

They should be suing the individual publishers increasing the prices to $80 instead of suing the store. There are plenty of publishers still selling game for like $50 with much success (like E33). But this proves that the publishers are the ones setting the prices.... so again nothing changes because they aren't even going after the main offender. How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD? Sony being the number one store in the market doesn't mean that publisher have to charge us an arm and a leg. Again the industry is laughing at us because consumers never get real representation. Just these fake platitudes that are meaningless.

BeHunted1d 6h ago

"How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD"

Because Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly, I can purchase Call of Duty at a huge discount from CDKeys or other gaming retailers. The only way to purchase digital PlayStation games is through the PlayStation Store.

djl34851d 5h ago

Weird, I swore GoW, Stellar Blade, Horizon Zero Dawn, TLoU, etc. were on the steam store....uh.....

BeHunted1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

@djI3485

I'm talking about PlayStation games that you can only purchase on PlayStation. I can purchase Steam and Epic games from 3rd party retailers and key stores.

About time. There is zero fair reason why digitally distributed products that you cannot recoup any value when you want to dispose of them, should be priced higher than that of physical copies that entail all of the costs and the benefits of owning.

Cancelled Batman Game Featuring Damian Wayne Character Designs Surface

"Project Sabbath" was a cancelled Batman game by WB Games Montreal where Damien Wayne was set to take on the mantle of the Bat.

Terry_B3d ago

Its time Damian ...and his mother too & how his son came to be will be a big part in a background story of a Batman movie, series or game.

-Foxtrot3d ago

I'd have rather seen Terry than Damian especially to see what they could have done with Terry in the Arkhamverse

excaliburps1d 15h ago

No, WB doesn't want anything fun since suits want live service garbage for max revenue. LOL!

Shame. If we are getting any Batman games like these, it'll be years away.

LordStig1d 3h ago

YES! make an Arkham game with Terry as Batman and call it Batman Beyond Arkham.

Green-Smurf1d 10h ago

Damian doesn't follow his dad's code. He kills

Babadook71d 10h ago

Not to be confused with Damon Wayans.

jznrpg1d 10h ago

I’m not a big superhero fan but I do enjoy the Batman and SpiderMan games. Too bad this one got cancelled. WB has been mostly shite live service.
