Rumor: Kingdom of Hearts III To Be PS3 Exclusive (Scan Revealed)

GameXtract writes "Not too long ago rumors had surfaced that Kingdom of Hearts III had been sighted in OPM as a PS3 exclusive. Of course we weren't convinced being the visual bastards we are, but now we have more concrete proof of this rumor. Below we have a scan of the UK OPM issue of Kingdom of Hearts III, and if you scroll down towards the bottom you will notice in one of the circles it will say "Kingdom of Hearts III is in development as a PS3 exclusive and will be announced at TGS ." We will leave you guys to debate over if this rumor is true or just another false piece of info. Get a good look at the screen after the jump."

While the scan doesn't prove anything. If it turns out to be true its good news for Kingdom of Hearts fans that wanted the series moved to the PS3.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the series.

KH and FF sell the most in europe and Japan

And u saw the fate of TOV and other RPGS on x360 in Japan and europe

KH and FF usually sell 70% of total sales in EU and JAP

so a good decision but it was expected

FF13 is also exclusive to ps3 in Japan and it would be launched a year ahead of US/EU versions on ps3/x360

FF13 v and WKS are ps3 exclusives if u are unaware

disc space limitations and hopefully understanding the cell hopefully the developers can do the game the next-gen justice it deserves like hideo did with mgs4,

Because Disney backs the Blu Ray association and has a long agreement and does not want its IP's on HD-DVD.

But when HD DVD died the agreement still stood.

Bombibomb5701d ago (Edited 5701d ago )

I guess it makes sense. Square-Enix published two 360 exclusives (Infinite Undiscovery [flop] and Star Ocean 4). Nomura (director of Kingdom Hearts), being the PS3 fanboy that he truly is, won't make a multi-platform KH game. He wants quality and for that he needs Blu-ray. He himself admitted that he was very surprised when FFXIII went multi-platform. If he works at Square-Enix why would he be surprised? That's easy. It was a last minute decision by Square-Enix right before E3 / Microsoft paid them millions.

Nomura has confirmed that Versus XIII will remain PS3 exclusive WORLDWIDE, not just in Japan, unlike XIII. If you REALLY want him to make KH3 for PS3, make sure you buy Versus XIII. If it sells well, you'll be making it a lot easier for him to make up his mind about where his future games will end up. We need talented geniuses like him developing PS3 exclusives for us. Exclusives > Multi-platform

@ mohib: 360 games are made on normal DVD's, not HD-DVD's.

Think about it: If it's a Wii exclusive, it'll have gimmicky controls and the visuals won't be much better than KH and KHII, two games that were known for pushing the PS2 visually as well as the simple-but-fun ARPG gameplay, surprisingly deep story and Disney collaberation. I'm guessing that the developers are going to want to continue this trend and bring true next-gen visuals to KHIII.

If it's 360 only or also on 360, the 360 kids will only play it to rub it in the faces of the true KH fans who are getting it on PS3. I bet most 360 fans haven't even played KH and KHII, due to them being PS2 exclusive. Plus, it'll be at least 3 discs I'd believe if it were on 360.

So PS3-exclusive is logical, profitable, and a good way for Square-Enix to kiss and make-up to Sony and their fans. KH is a Sony series, so let's hope Square-Enix don't let money blind them into gimping it on the Wii or 360.

Euphrate5701d ago

If the "Wii" would be the best choice, then why didn't SE develop FFXIII for the Wii? Wouldn't they have made more money on the Wii?

The 360 doesn't "rule" the west, the PAL region( everywhere but US/JP) is very much in favour of Sony. And in America the Playstation 3 has been outselling the 360 for the last year. So you expect Square to overlook PAL ( which brings in more money than US ) to simply satisfy the 360 owners? What about Japan? Square will surely release KH in Japan too, this is standard, and the format for that is the Playstation 3. The Wii holds a small attach rate, with more then 70% of the games on the system developed by Nintendo. Casual crowd sucks at that, which is why you don't see many developers other than the huge ones that can afford it, develope for it.

Square wouldn't have made FF13 multiplat unless they desperately needed the additional funding to make all these games, and Microsoft has partly paid for these developement costs. For instance, the Final Fantasy that was supposed to be on Mobile could have easily been set up for Nintendo DS, since the install base is bigger and those things practically print teh moniez, yet Square has made its decision to release it on the PSP instead, which costs more to make.

The Obvious choice for Nomura would be, to make it PS3/Wii,making the Playstation version first( Timed Exclusive) and then porting it to the Wii,since not the amount of work on quality has to be spent on developing for the Wii, simple as that. Both to satisfy his Kojima-like love for the Playstation brand( an example is FFXIIIVS) and to make the additional profit.

It must suck for those who can only afford a 360 though, they get a lot of RPG's but not nessecarily the best ones, Versus has a very, very good chance of being the next DMC, but with amazingly good cut-scenes. Kingdom Hearts looks awesome if any of you watched the Trailer for it and the trailer gives it, that Dark "Playstation 3 " look to it

Aquanox5701d ago

I'm already vacuumed against these rumors. Star Ocean IV was heavily rumored to be a PS3 exclusive before it was announced only for the Xbox 360.

These rumors are more wishful thinking than any kind of proof.

As much as I like Kingdom Hearts and I am pretty sure it's going to come out on the PS3, the best piece of news I read in this scan was about Boom Blox moving to the PS3. I mean, Boom Blox is a great great game and I am very happy that those rumours are probably going to turn out to be true. I am looking forward to this and it will make me very happy.

The only question now is:

Will it be on disc or in the Playstation Store and Live Arcade?

WOW, Geometry Wars is going to land on PSN too. That's even greater news. I can't believe those rumours were overlooked due to the KH3 one. I mean, come on, those are just great news for Playstation owners and are as important as the KH3 one.

zo6_lover275701d ago (Edited 5701d ago )

Can you give links to those cause I'm interested

EDIT

I just skipped to the KH3 part, I feel stupid now -_-

Harry1905701d ago (Edited 5701d ago )

in the article. Check the scan.

u saw the fate of many RPGS which were launched on other consoles in Japan and europe

the devs lost millions on RPGS of some other console

so it is a logical decision that FF13v/WKS/KH would all be ps3 exclusives

kingme715701d ago

Yeah, I agree. The whole point of Boom Blox is the motion.

harrisk9545701d ago

"boom blox without the remote doesn't quite have the same allure"

Well, hopefully they can use the sixaxis controls to implement this. It works very well on the PSN Bowling game.

Cheeseknight285701d ago

"Well, hopefully they can use the sixaxis controls to implement this. It works very well on the PSN Bowling game. "

But bowling and throwing/grabbing objects are very different things. I can't see any way that they could use Sixaxis as a way to lob balls or grab blocks that would be comfortable.

Bowling is a bit simpler, because all you would have to do is tilt the control to add tilt to the ball. But semi-throwing a controller to toss a ball doesn't seem like it would work.

mfwahwah5701d ago

Boom Blox and a downloadable title "are as important as the KH3 one?" Yeah, KH3 is MUCH bigger news than Boom Blox and a rumor about GW that has already been brought up in the past.

If that rumor is true...let the ass kicking begin. o.o

Snake Raiser5701d ago

It was 1000. I can imagine what it would be like on the ps3, that battle kind of sucked if you compare it to games now because their were 1000 people, but only 10-20 who were not part of the back "ground".
That being said, It was an amazing game and I am waiting for the 3rd.
The picture looks like it could be real... or fake, I can't tell.

Saki_waki5700d ago

All of my friends (or some) call it Kingdom of hearts when I clearly said Kingdom Hearts right in their face. Whats so hard about saying Kingdom hearts dammit?

Should we allow the Dying Japanese RPG maker back to our Supple Bosom?

InfiniteUnfloppery5701d ago

Or should we only provide our Milk Exclusively to Level-5,the much Superior Japanese RPG maker?

Final Fantasy XVI Has Finally Given Donald Duck A Worthy Opponent

For a long time, it's been widely accepted amongst Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts fans that Donald Duck is the most powerful mage ever to exist, mainly due to his use of the stupidly powerful Zettaflare spell towards the end of Kingdom Hearts 3. This spell is one step up from Teraflare, a spell which was used in Final Fantasy XIV that was so powerful that it completely wiped out the base game, giving the developers a canonical reason to let them bin everything and start again from scratch.

Now you're armed with this information, you can see how it was pretty surprising for Donald Duck of all characters to bust out Zettaflare and establish himself as the most powerful character in Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts lore. However, now that Final Fantasy XVI has arrived and delivered a whole new cast of characters, a new challenger has arrived to provide Donald with some much needed competition.

Final Fantasy's Strongest Canonical Magic User Is... Donald Duck?

Final Fantasy features many strong characters, but an unlikely character from Kingdom Hearts is able to cast the most powerful spell ever seen

gold_drake341d ago

that was pretty amazing, not gonna lie, i might have shed a tear or too, just cause of pure awesomeness.

he was already my favourite disney character and one of my favs from KH and then to see that amazing spell too. aah so good xD

Final Fantasy's strongest magic user is Donald Duck, who never appears in a final fantasy game.

This Kingdom Hearts Boss' Unpredictability Gave Me Sekiro Vibes

Kingdom Hearts is filled with otherworldly boss battles, but only one stands out like a phoenix dancing with ethereal grace across the night sky. Before we embark upon a discussion concerning Kingdom Hearts' exceptional boss battles, it may be prudent to first reflect on the evolution of the criteria for appraising video game bosses. This criterion has undergone a major metamorphosis over the past decade; one that owes much to the profound influence of From Software and its iconic Souls series.

"Yozora is much more than a grueling secret encounter; he is a reflection of what Kingdom Hearts' bosses should be"

No thank you. If every boss in Kingdom Hearts was like Yozora, the series would be unplayable. That's not to say that they shouldn't include such challenges, but making them fundamental to the game would be too much. And don't say that this is what the From Software games are, because Yozora is absolutely harder than most of the bosses in those games. He is waaay faster, has a ludicrous number of abilities (and does them in random order AND can chain most of them together), and punishes you severely if you make a mistake. On top of that, you have to survive this onslaught for a really long time because of how much health he has. It's borderline too much - for me at least. Still, it's a stunning battle.

OMNlPOTENT352d ago

I agree, while I do really enjoy the Yozora fight, I think it's far too difficult to be anything more than an optional boss. However, I do believe that there should be more bosses that are in the same weight and size class as Sora, as the majority of those in KH3 were the best fights. The giant heartless bosses just aren't as enjoyable.
