Titanfall 2’s single-player campaign is said to be eight hours long

I'm not sure if its "too short" considering we don't really know what it will even involve.

I'm not holding my breath for this games SP considering the team didn't even see fit to make one for the first game, ie its concept and birth was not for a SP concept, thus....don't care.

I care more so about its MP seeing how they've made the game for that reason in the first place.
Don't worry about how long it is bud, worry about if its even good.

I think titan fall 2 will be good but I'm sorry I can't defend an 8 hour campaign. Imo the future for games like these are experiences that merge the single player and multiplayer. Like Destiny or the division. Battlefield ,cod and all the other competitive multiplayer shooters should drop single player and make a great solo/co op experience to co exist with the multiplayer.

They already do, unless you mean drop SP in favor of having more co-op, which I actually agree. I don't care for forced SP in the same respect I don't care for forced MP.

I'm noting buying God Of War for MP, I'm not buying Titanfall for SP, I'm not even buying BF1 for its SP.

Merging single player with multiplayer/co-op doesn't work for everything, it usually comes at the cost of good scripted moments and weaker level design. Just look at the mission structure in the Bungie halos compared to Destiny, or halo 4 vs halo 5 for examples. Even though destiny's good, the level design is lacking. Same with Halo 5's campaign.

Games with no lengthy sp = game with no soul. Why not put the care in to make it memorable. Was a buy for me now it's a skip, like the first one. Shame as the concept for this game could have made a great story and series

But why isn't eight hours a good length for a shooter campaign. I mean any longer and it risks getting boring,repetitive etc. I swear gamers need to quit looking at game play hours and start looking at game play quality. I've been gaming since the Nintendo and nobody ever said "man im not playing super Mario brothers because it's only three hours long" among thousands of other examples.

Apples to oranges.Times have changed. gamers have more power now through their wallets than back then. No longer are the days of getting screwed by purchasing a crappy 3 hour game by only being able to look at the game art and back of the box at toys r us. games have evolved nowadays to require more than 8 hours sp and I was saying that it's a shame that the concept for this series could be so much more than what they are passing. They could've added more than just run n shoot, repeat, rinse, repeat

Yes it is apples and oranges isn't it? Titanfall 2 will be multilayer centric, and is where the longevity will come from. This means the single player can be whatever it wants, and if that's an epic 4-5 hour roller coaster ride, then so be it. Like Dark knightmare said, dragging it out will make it worse. A good 4 hours is better than a mediocre 8 hours. And its usually a better way to go for multiplayer centric games, because its not where the main effort goes into.

I say 4-5 hours for now because developers often overstate the length of their games before release.

It's been confirmed that Titanfall 2's map packs and modes will all be free, so its in the same vein as Halo 5 in terms of replayability... so it'll probably be played for a long time. And now it has a pretty good looking single player to go along with it. Regardless of its length, its a really good package.

Don't think he was talking about soul & passion put in by devs, he seemed to be speaking to the difference between a quality campaign & a quality mp. A quality campaign features some kind of interesting narrative hook, multiple interlocking gameplay systems & quality performance from the voice actors, all combining to create a memorable cohesive experience. Quality mp is all about competition, you still have some gameplay variation, little to no narrative, and any memories made are unique to each player.

End of the day typical MP is like playing a pick up game of basketball, typical sp is like spending the afternoon at the movies. We've seen some of those bleed into each other, but the most focused versions of either are typically also the most effective. MP is great for competitive folks so I wouldn't go as far as saying that mp has no soul, but they are typically different experiences.

Multiplayer focused games, don't really need long campaigns. The quality of the single-player's design, gameplay and story is more important than having a super long single-player.

I've already put 30+ hours into No Man's Sky so an 8 hour campaign is nothing short of laughable. Like others have stated, the campaign will still be throw-away while the focus is on multiplayer.

Halo doesn't have a 15 hour campaign but is often said to be one of the best fps campaigns of all time and that's because bungie focused on both sides

Halo4 was more story focused then MP
Halo5 was more MP focused then SP
Same with the BF series with 3 imo having the worst single player campaigns in a fps in years and I have yet to finish...and BF4s is no better
Titanfall was always a MP first game cause that's how it started out and they only added a SP because ppl cried about it not because they wanted to
