Or simply (and exactly what it is), it's a divisive game and its mechanics are not for everyone. Up and down reviews do not mean it's not great at. In fact reviews mean nothing. Good or bad, a review is worthless.

I agree, reviews are fairly subjective. I think the issue is that there are many people who tend to make decisions based on reviews. The Daymeeun's impressions, good or bad, would have much more weight being one of the few who had actually played it (sans patch).

For someone else who doesn't like the solo experience of planet exploration, I can understand and accept that they hate the game or just think it's meh. Some use reviews to justify their purchase, some use reviews to get the general idea of what is in the game. Things are only useful when you use them to fulfill your needs.

i was interested in Mad Max, until Colin from Kinda Funny Games said that the combat was too mindnumbing and shallow and too easy. that turned me off because i found even Batman AK combat a little shallow after i got the hang of it. Colin saved me 70$

The reason there are down reviews is because it is neither a dude-bro shooter nor does it hold your hand like Assassins Creed/Far Cry. There are a lot of gamers (and reviewers) who are not accustomed to playing intelligent games which is why there is so much vitriol dressed up as "reviews".

I'm fine with a copyright claim if it's something to do with the story, lore or the not yet seen alien races.
But if it's just footage of someone exploring a generated planet, then there's no need.

A game such as this will be all over the place as it really depends on what the person playing it is looking for in a game. Also to me it would seem that I wouldn't review it after a few hours. At the end of the day I never let critics or reviewers detour me from a movie or game. It's like most things if they agree with me then cool but if they don't well I don't really give a shit. If I enjoy something then I just enjoy it.

Right because Nintendo isn't notorious for copyright infringement take downs at the end of the day companies can do whatever they want with their content. The fact that many companies choose not to take action against many youtube user's doesn't mean they can't. Fair use rules need to be more clear on youtube but it''s not a guarantee that a company may not like how you use their property and seek to make you take down you're footage. When you buy a game no where does it say that you own the right to stream it even dough many people do, you buy a game to play it not stream it. If you want to voice you're opinion without censorship many video game forums exist that offer you that option.

It most likely was not because of the journos review, it's more to do with breaking the D@mn Street date..which is most of the time ..sites like iGN, game trailers..etc..do not suffer such fate..no matter if the review is good or bad..

If your site is signaled out , maybe there is a reason that you are...and why would Sony be the one doing this? It's not even a Sony 1st party game..if anything This is showing if Sony did do this is that it's indeed looking out for its game developer and publisher partners.

I mean Sony did under go a recent law suit , because the people complained that Sony did not try to protect their movie from being pirated!

The game had a street date, as a journalist they should as common freaking courtesy follow the edicts, not to release a review until after the street date. If you as a journalist are not willing to follow it, than what should happen when other journos do infact follow the edicts, but you and your site do not?

It is not Sony's Game, hell it's 3rd party and can end up on Xbox..so why would Sony go though all that trouble... Maybe because breaking the street date on reporting and doing a review, where other journos follow proper Street dates for their review..is one of the reasons.

Respectful journalist edict should exist if that's what your going to be choosing as a professional profession. If Sony would go out of their way to AstroTurf for a multi-platform independent game development Studio in order to do what exactly? Somehow try to change the outcome of how the game is Percieved just by taking down one single sites video review? When the entire internet is out there?

It's very or should be clear, that this was most likely single out pull down, because he broke the review embargo.. Which is perfectly common practice to have a site pull down your videos if your found out doing such , before the D@mn Street date embargo is lifted.

I mean all this would show is Sony is more than willing to enforce the street date embargo, when it finds sites not willing to follow such, and it shows that Sony is atleast trying to go out of its way to enforce that Street date embargo for its development and publishing partners no matter how big or small, no matter if it's their own 1st party or a fan development 2nd or 3rd party Publisher or development studio.

If any one thing ; as a developer or publisher. I Would want the company in Question to do such when there is a review Street date embargo in effect until it ships and that gives my studio enough time to get server services or patches ready for release for or by the time of the street date..

YouTube and others use public released company content in their video reviews all the time, a company has a right to enforce that if they want..some in fact do..but if you are enforced it on only one such person or site ..the Prudent Question is why was it leveraged against them and not other's?

Question did his review break the street date Embargo for reviews that was in place?

If I was a betting man, I would say there is a pretty good chance it was that and not the video review of the game being the case of why, not "just because of the video review of the game"

It's a PC/PS4 and probably XB1 game. And yes people are posting the scores from reviews regularly. I've read in so many posts that it has a Metacritic of 69 and a user score of 5.

The Know had one of their videos on No Man's Sky pulled as well by sony, a manual entry for copyright claim. this is all explained in their video, and how they plan to fight the claim as they were only reporting on the news that someone spent 1300 on a copy fo the game, and only used footage used from sony's actually trailers for the game

And if it was pulled, Sony just cannot go and down and pull your video on a hosting site just Willy nilly without a just cause you can if you are in the right keep your video up and running, the fact is the Hosted site pulled it..did Sony on that site own that hosting site for their vids?

It's one thing to claim, such and such company pulled the video, it's another where a site gets a cease and desist from another company and the hosting site itself takes your video down itself..they even said those vids were as they said was "moved" LoL, becuase they are doing something that violates that companies copy rights.

But yet other review sites have had no such copy written cease and desist take downs of their less than flattering review of this game..so why did this site get one?

That is how copy rights are enforced, copy rights are also permission based..so if you are asked , not to do a review before such and such time and you do such reviews using copy written footage of said product in your video...

How else do you think it would be enforced?...could the request to do a redo to their review video? Be issued ?And release it once the review embargo is lifted?

Why on earth out of all the sites would or did Sony directly just choose one single site to leverage a copy write infringement on a game that does not even belong to them?

I'm not up to date on the details of this particular story, but I do see that The Know is pretty firmly in MS' corner for the most part. Rooster Teeth started w/ Red vs. Blue, so they've got a pretty clear allegiance w/ MS.

It's most evident in situations like these, The Know will report on most news from Sony or MS, but w/ every potentially negative piece of MS news they will receive the benefit of a doubt & the writing typically plays devil's advocate for them, but every potentially negative piece of Sony news doesn't receive that extra spin. I did a little experiment & scrolled through these kinds of stories & found The Know always erring on the side of MS in negative instances & always speaking against Sony in similar cases.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was a history of kickbacks there, we've already seen the Machinima scandal & most recently the WB stuff, so these things aren't unheard of, it's only a matter of whether or not they get caught in the act. In the Machinima instance, they were caught in the act, but MS had obviously set it up to where Machinima would receive all of the flak & they kept their hands clean even though they were obviously just as guilty. If RT or any of its subsidiaries receive funds directly or indirectly from MS, that would change the entire narrative really, into one of sabotage rather than simple journalism.

Actually, the situation with The Know has nothing to do with copyright law. The only reason Sony are able to legally take it down is because Youtube is cooperating. If Youtube did not cooperate, Sony would have no legal avenue to have the video removed.

Well, I picked up No Mans Sky today. Already have six hours in and still am having fun. Its all about discovery and unfolding the mystery of what is going on. The game is beautiful and very cryptic. Im really enjoying it!
