No Man's Sky Review - IGN Spain

Already time to satisfy one of the biggest hypes in recent history in the world of video games. From now is when we can talk knowledgeably about the debate that has divided the community for a couple of years ago: is it worth No Man's Sky Is Sean Murray one vendehumos with a strange accent? You're on the side of the fence you're on , what is clear is that the creature Hello Games has changed a little the panorama of contemporary video game with its premise and its forms. What he has done for better or for worse?

Link broke for some reason.. Sorry about that.

Like every game, it's not for everyone but I've been loving it. This game seems to have really polarized many people into the camps that really hate it and the camps that really love it. I believe thats based strictly on your particular gaming preferences. Occasionally I enjoy some story-based, mission-focused games that tell me who I am and what I'm supposed to be doing while pointed on a particular path. But I really enjoy open-world, go-where-you-want, do-what-you-want-to-do games that do not have to be finished in order for you to get closure on your experience. To each their own...

My biggest complaint so far is the way inventory works, especially at the beginning. Maybe I'm too early in or maybe I just suck at it, but I feel like my inventory is always full and I don't know what to drop, so I'm constantly racing back to a space station to sell stuff to make room.

I wish they'd go with a Far Cry Primal style inventory system where you have an allotment for each item. Zero inventory management. I just want to be able to focus on exploring the wonders of the universe and not get bogged down with item management.

GrubsterBeater1220d ago

You start to get a ton of inventory space not too much farther into the game. Look for drop pods on planets and moons to increase your inventory space. They are everywhere. It will get better, I promise.

IcarusOne1219d ago

Nice. I just reached my first Atlas Interface. And in the lead up found a couple of upgrade stations. Now I'm hunting for a new ship - but not sure the best way to do that. I've heard you can find wrecks on planets and repair them but so far, no dice for me.

Goldby1219d ago

drop pods are your life source for inventory managemnt

It's funny because you especially would be denouncing IGN as incompetent if they gave it anything below an 8

Aloy-Boyfriend1219d ago

Your generalization is even more funny. Had they given a lower score, it would have been fine by me still. Besides I don't complain about scores like others.

Strangeface1220d ago

I've been having the same problem as you. I've got shit loads of blueprints but no room to store any more upgrades.
However, I'm thinking that you don't necessarily have to worry too much.
I plan on getting a better ship so I'll lose stuff anyway. But I'll just get more stuff to put in my 'enlarged' cargo hold!
The key thing with this amazing game (I believe anyway) is to take your time.
Right now I'm loving roaming my first solar system in my stubby little craft and taking in the planets.
I had 2 enormous predatory fish stalking me as I stood atop a half-sunken Korvack base in the middle of large body of crystal clear water.
That wouldn't have happened had I not poodled around checking shit out.

Goldby1219d ago

only use the blueprints you need,

if you are on a normal planet that isn't super hot or super cold, don't bother wearing temperature protective gear.

the second i leave a planet that i nopw longer need protection for, i dismantle the upgrade

XanderZane1219d ago

Not really, but we'll wait for more reviews.

I have a feeling this is going to be a mixed bag of reviews, just like Quantum Break. There will be highs and lows.

MasterCornholio1219d ago (Edited 1219d ago )

I expect Quantum Break will be better though.

No Man's Sky is one of those love it or hate it kind of games. Kind of like Quantum Break. And with these types of games it's usually 1 or 2 things that really displease critics. In the case of Quantum Break it was the terrible story or the TV aspect of the game. With No Mans Sky it's probably the games lack of direction or heavy emphasis on resource collection that will displease critics.

Judging from Dan Stapleton's comments on Twitter I don't see the main IGN site giving it this high a score but glad to hear the IGN Spain reviewer enjoyed it as much as many others did so hoping for more high reviews like this

TGGJustin1220d ago

Who cares what Dan Stapleton thinks about it. Has nothing to do with this review. It's a game that doesn't appeal to everyone so it's going to get very high scores from some and a little bit lower scores from others.

YinYangGaming1220d ago

Dan Stapleton is the Executive Editor of Reviews for what is arguably the biggest gaming publication there is so when you say "who cares what Dan Stapleton thinks about it" I think there's actually quite a few people who care

TGGJustin1220d ago

@yinyang I'm well aware of who he is but his opinion has nothing to do with this review. You brought him up just to try and bring some negativity in here to counter IGN Spain giving it a good score. On this particular review no one cares what Dan thinks.

Null19801219d ago

I have seen the way Dan Stapleton attacks commenters over on IGN, so I have to say, no I don't care what he has to say. I've never seen an executive editor treat their readerbase so poorly. Even if he was king of the freakin world, I still wouldn't care what he has to say.

S2Killinit1219d ago (Edited 1219d ago )

Personaly I REALLY dont hold much credibility for his opinions.

I heard he is still having nightmares of the Cleric Beast

Ciporta19801220d ago

He's seems to be a bit like Jim sterling in the fact he doesn't seem to ever like any game.

moegooner881220d ago

Dan, the cry baby who hated Bloodborne? Lol ok kid

Dark_Knightmare21220d ago

Yeah lol when I saw it was him I already knew he was going to mess up the review. He's not a good reviewer and I'll never forget his ridiculous bloodborne rant amongst other things

CrimzonRazor1220d ago (Edited 1220d ago )

Stapleton is a joke who tries to review games but clearly has no skill at even playing them, and why even bring him up here he has nothing to do with this review.

spoilerjerk1220d ago

I find most of the "respected" reviewers tend to be rather far off on games I'd actually enjoy. If I listened to IGN and Gamespot I would have passed on Alien: Isolation which is in my top 5 for this generation. If I continued to listen to the average to below average ratings of websites on No Man's Sky I'd be missing out on what is hands down my favorite game this generation and probably the most exciting new gameplay experience I've had since Super Mario 64. This game is going to be the template for a lot of copy cats.

Nice. Game has kept me up past 2am for the past couple of nights. Addicted.

thornh1220d ago

Believe it or not I have had a little bit of FOMO with this game. It sounds totally ridiculous but I want to be the one who discovers everything in my little sector of the galaxy.

TomatoDragon1220d ago

I hear ya. Every time I'm about to leave a planet, I see just "One more icon" I wanna go stop at.

spoilerjerk1220d ago

I actually play while using a treadmill, perfect game for it. Burned 900 calories yesterday alone;)

TomatoDragon1220d ago

I do the exact same thing. :)

phantomexe1220d ago

Well deserved it's and amazing game.
