Remedy must have pushed for a Steam release after the lackluster sales of the Win10 app store version.

Sciurus_vulgaris2669d ago (Edited 2669d ago )

Remedy was already paid for the game during development, they also don't own the IP, this would of been Microsoft's decision. The game should have been on Steam day 1. Steam would of boosted the PC sales of the game. Profit margins per Steam copy would be lower than Windows Store sales, but the overall revenue would be stronger when combining the two distribution methods.

Remedy also put Alan Wake on steam, which microsoft had nothing to do with. Is Alan Wake a Microsoft ip?

Sciurus_vulgaris2669d ago

@FGHFG.... Remedy owns Alan Wake, not MS, when it was put on steam, MS may have gotten a profit cut, due them funding the game.

Might get it when its on a Steam Sale

FGHFGHFGH2669d ago

I'm guess the windows store version not selling well.

Can we call this one a multiplat now? First it was "Only on Xbox One", then it was "MS Exclusive", now it is "Console Exclusive"...at this rate I expect to play QB on my PS4 next year.

Either way, it's a good move all around, hopefully Remedy sees some kind of kickback if the game does well on Steam. Just sad that it's message was so muddied by its release & I assume MS are the ones that pushed the TV portion on the game at the outset. Could've been a much bigger start to a great franchise, now it seems destined to be a one off.

"Can we call this one a multiplat now? First it was "Only on Xbox One", then it was "MS Exclusive", now it is "Console Exclusive"...at this rate I expect to play QB on my PS4 next year."

how is alan wake on your ps3/ps4? the game is still microsoft exclusive.

"Just sad that it's message was so muddied by its release"

sad for who? you already explained yourself not to be a xbox one fan or a pc fan, so how does this change anything?

rainslacker2669d ago

Think we need a new term that is acceptable to everyone.

Or is that racist?

Anyhow, Mexclusive means that it can mean whatever the Xbox fan needs it to mean to suit their argument, but it's still not exclusive, but probably is a console exclusive. Should alleviate all the discussion, and ultimately, still mean about as much as it ever did.

I'm looking forward to what will be said if QB ends up going to SteamOS or Mac.

jb2272668d ago

hahaha...times like these I wish we still had a bubble system, +1 for funny.

QB on Mac would be great....next step QB on the iPad. I'm just glad that at some point in the future I'll be able to play some more Remedy games, and hopefully they have more freedom to really cut loose & do some more unique great games.

15 games on FIFTEEN pages? That's a NO from me.

Manifold Garden
Portal & Portal 2
The Stanley Parable
Monument Valley
Q.U.B.E. 2
Quantum Break
The Swapper

I think Inscryption is the best game on that list. PT and Returnal i would offer. Returnal deserves a spot over some of the listed games. Especially after chapter 3. Maybe even Alice MR? Death Stranding? Kojima all together. To much smaller degree Dead Space. I'm spitballing.

I didn't play Thumper enough to see beyond the visual spectacle. Curious choice.

SullysCigar206d ago (Edited 206d ago )

I'd add FEAR and RE7 (when Ethan starts getting visions, especially in the boat) to that list.

Edit: and Here They Lie

Petebloodyonion206d ago

What no Eternal Darkness on the list?

BrainSyphoned206d ago

Only makes me think of gatcha loot crate game specifically built to play your mind into becoming an addict.

I mean, no Motorsport releases are on GP, Dead Rising 3 is not, RAD etc. It's a lie that every first party or exclusive is on GP. I actually enjoyed QB though. I know it was a flop but i like story intense games and while flawed QB was enjoyable for me. Though Greenberg didn't help by boasting about how amazing the game is prior to release. He def overplayed it. Still a decent game imo though. I thought Control was better but pperhaps ppl were too hard on QB. The story was enjoyable enough and combat was passable.

gangsta_red240d ago (Edited 240d ago )

Those games you mentioned are not first party games. They may have been published by MS but they don't have the rights to the IP.

Seriously, just stop with this little act you have going on now, it's silly and we see through it. A couple of small generic, backhanded compliments followed by a laundry list of you complaining about Xbox and MS.

I thought I was the only one that noticed his act, but he will say something like " I own an Xbox" and "Calm down" then give a laundry list of things he likes, to prove he is not putting on an act....it's a passive way to seem neutral.

Forza Motorsport isn't 1st-party?

gangsta_red240d ago

@fan of gaming

"Forza Motorsport isn't 1st-party?"

Motorsport games do release on GP, they don't stay on GP because of licensing issues.

343_Guilty_Spark240d ago

He can’t help himself.

I loved QB. Yes Control overall is better but the soundtrack in QB was amazing.

Sure buddy, thanks for sharing, except the games you named were not MS first party, especially Dead Rising, Capcom made and owns the series.

You should at least know that.

Backhanded passive-aggressive post 101. Good job.

dumahim240d ago

Forza most certainly is.

porkChop240d ago

Forza Motorsport games do release on GP. They get removed after so many years because of licensing.
