Me too, and that's why I can't take these early reviews seriously. From what I've played it's a ten. Reaching the first space station was one of those "once a generation" moments.

@lsbb have only come across herbivores , animal wise, although there is a plant that attacks if you get too close... no radiation on the planet of Evertonfcsucks though......

This guy complains that the UI is slow on the PS4 due to lack of a mouse. Does this game not support the PS4 controller's touchpad? I mean, that's exactly what it's there for. That would be a gross oversight, albeit one that could be patched. Maybe the reviewer forgot about it?

That is actually my biggest complaint so far too-- that you have to move what is essentially a mouse pointer to select things instead of moving box to box like most UI's designed for a controller. That said, the navigation of that mouse pointer works actually works pretty well on the DS4, but it would just be better if it was optional. You'd be able to navigate the interface a little bit quicker

That said I have not tried navigating it with the touchpad yet.

Normally when I play a new PS4 game I always try the touchpad. It is surprising the number of games that actually make use of the touchpad. Sometimes it's just a swipe (The Witcher 3), other times you can tap the sides and/or centre for different effects (Bloodborne) although what it will do is dependent on the game. Obviously, some games don't make use of the touchpad at all.

Even the six-axis is actually used by some games (not that many) to varying degrees of control.

You get used to it really fast though. And it's not at all cumbersome compared to games like Fallout 4 where you spend more time in the menus than in the actual game.

Its not slow due to lack of a mouse as the PS4 was the base platform. Its slow because the sensativity is way to low to begin with and turning it up dorsnt due much to help.

The pointer needs to have a sensitivity option. The UI is fine and clean.

There indeed an issue. In the middle of a fight the gun may run out of energy, and you must recharge by going to the menu. It's feels like an oversight.

For now until Hello Games does something about that, make sure you gun is always full

There is a reload button for the gun on the multi-tool. You hit square.

You have to recharge the mining laser, but not the gun. Once you run out of ammo with the gun (which for me is 45 shots or so, and like 8 magazines ready to reload with) and when the gun eventually runs out, you recharge it with materials.

Super Meh for me at this point, and I don't see how it will get any better. Flying to random planets to find elements to make a new thing so I can fly to a different random planet to find different elements. If the actual gameplay wasn't so unfun this may not be a problem, but wandering around for hours trying to shoot rocks is just not any fun.

Exploration is the main mechanic if thats not something you enjoy then its not for you.

Well, if the exploration was actually fun that would be cool, but you're going to planets that predominately look the same and shooting rocks. To make matters worse they simplified the space flight and combat to the point that all the fun was drained out of it. It seriously has the worst dogfighting of any space game I've played. So if the exploration isn't fun and the flying isn't fun, what's left? I guess the enjoyment of collecting and crafting things and watching stats go up. I like those systems, it's just a shame that the game crafted around them is so dull.

The exploration is extremely fun. Not knowing what's over the hill or hiding in that cave. Never knowing what kind of planet is next or what the next alien encounter will bring. It's pure exploration at its finest. No game has ever done exploration quite like this. Not even the pc games like Elite Dangerous...Those are limited in ways that NMS is completely open.

@InMyOpinion Totally agree. I can't remember any game this gen so far that gave me the feeling you described. After repairing the ship and seeing how huge that planet was, leaving it was a total "wow" moment.
