Pain and agony in the wallet

VJGenova3236d ago

Absolutely. I won't be looking to upgrade until bonus season, March, the earliest. Maybe there will be 1080tis by then. If not, i am waiting for the 1180.

medman3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

Personally I'm waiting for Nvidia's Volta architecture, which will have the HBM2 memory, and also Intel's 10nm Cannonlake. Volta may be out by spring 2017, but probably later in the year, and Cannonlake cpu's expected by fall 2017, so I've got a bit of a wait but I'm patient.

ABizzel13236d ago

@medman

I don't think NVIDIA is launching Volta next year. There are rumors for either a 2017 or 2018 launch, but it doesn't make sense to launch Volta in 2018 when NVIDIA already has the lead in the top end of GPUs against ADM with the current version of Pascal, not to mention there being more room to push Pascal and the 16nm fabrication harder until 14nm is easily accessible to them for Volta.

I see:

2016 Pascal
2017 Pascal 2 (HBM 2.0)
2018 Volta (Stacked Memory and N-Link are the main selling neither of which have been discussed in depth, and HBM still being expensive and limited in RAM pool.)

Erik73573236d ago

and only 5 frames from a gtx1080 lol

Duoma3236d ago

lol normal video card prices will do that .

corroios3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

What could Naughty dog do with this kind of power!!!!

But even this card cant do 4k/60? its strange those benchmarks. Even 11 teraflops arent enough????? So how much power do need for 4k/60?

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3236d ago (Edited 3235d ago )

Sadly no amount of power can fix that gameplay.

EDIT:
@ThatGuyDart
Not at all. If people enjoy it, they do. I just don't think the gameplay itself is very good.

ThatGuyDart3236d ago

It must trigger you knowing Uncharted 4 will be GOTY this year.

Unspoken3235d ago

I wonder how many people didn't play Uncharted 4...that number must hurt you good. lol

kevnb3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

Not that naughty dog isn't awesome or anything, but you know you are on n4g when this is one of the first comments,

Sparta073236d ago

Well name another developer that has come out with any game remotely close to how good looking uncharted is?
@ Kensington you are thinking of QB.

ONESHOTV23236d ago

Sparta07---- get over yourself ND is a great dev team but not the best and i have said before uncharted can not be a benchmark for future games becuase it's nothing but a scripted movie. one reason i think you guys talk nonsense like this is becuase you have not play most third party games at their highest settings at the highest frames/ res come back and make that claim when the consoles can achieve that..

starchild3236d ago

@Sparta07

Uncharted 4 does look amazing and Naughty Dog clearly are very talented, but it's not the most visually impressive game I've seen. There are quite a few high end PC games that are more impressive to me overall. Not to mention certain games with mods. Here's one example: https://m.youtube.com/watch...

kevnb gave another good example.

PiperMCFierceson3235d ago

Wow that starwars link is why I need a pc!! How much is it to get something that will run games at that quality. Also who creates mods, is it the devs or third party devs?

Unspoken3235d ago

Naughty Dog is doing now what CryEngine was doing in Ryse and Crysis 3 was doing 3 years ago. There fanboys were born yesterday and live under a rock.

medman3236d ago

I'm a huge Naughty Dog fan, and The Last of Us for me is their magnum opus. Uncharted 4 is good, but for me personally it doesn't come close to touching what that studio did with TLOU. Just my opinion.

ONESHOTV23236d ago

corroios-- with that much power they can finally create a game that i would want to buy i'm talking about a game that's not scripted or is it 90% movie and 10% gameplay one can dream right.

imtiyaz63236d ago

You seriously sound like someone who has not played a single Naughty Dog game. You probably didn't. 90% movie-do you have any evidence to back up your statement? You might not be into linear games, but I and many others love games with more focused story, incredible set pieces, fluid gameplay mechanics, etc.

Sparta073236d ago

Well in order to play a naughty Dog game you need a PS4 and you don't have one sooo....
LMao all games are scripted, what hell you talking about?

badz1493236d ago

@ONESHOTV2

"90% movie and 10% gameplay"

yup...obvious troll is obvious!

ONESHOTV23236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

imtiyaz6------ oh no sir i'm into linear games but not uncharted though check my (psn sniperbsr-sniperbsr_2 japanese account ) (mondaymurder23 origins/steam/GOG) yes i have never play uncharted becuase i had no interest in it since the first game came out on the ps3 and dont forget there is a thing call youtube so what am i missing out. i bought tomb raider and played it half way through and stop deleted it and never downloaded it again as i have said i dont waste time on games that almost movies. linear games like bioshock series is what i like 90% gameplay 10% movie that's how it should be

abstractel3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

It really depends. I've said this once in another thread, but I have seen in person, an upcoming 1080p/60fps PS4/Xbox1 game running 4k/60fps on the Neo, and it looks on par with most games out there except for the highest tiers of games. Doesn't look as good as Uncharted 4 of course, but still damn good, and it's because of their decisions. It seems so hard for a lot of gamers to understand, but devs aren't programming for a 2016 Titan X. If they were, they'd get a lot more out of the card than the games that are being showcased currently on the card.

Do none of you remember the jump from PS3/360 to PS4/XB1? Do you not remember how all of the sudden your PC GPUs were running graphics that looked way better than just the year before on the same cards? The main issue was VRAM, as the cards at the time didn't have the amount of VRAM that the new-gen had, which is why we got stuttering, but other than that, graphic leaps happen when you develop to a specific set of hardware and with the new consoles, devs didn't have to worry about appeasing the old consoles's hardware anymore.

That's why you don't see current iPads running graphics that they are actually capable of, because all devs are worried about the user base that don't have the newest IPads. When you think about this, doesn't it make sense to you? What game out there is programmed to use the 12GB of Vram that Titan X has as well as its other bells and whistles? NO GAME. And VRAM (and its speed) is a major factor in utilizing this card for 4k/60fps.

2pacalypsenow3236d ago

its because pc games are horribly optimized, 11tflops on a console would be crazy

If you're a PC gamer do not get this card, wait for the 1080 TI. Titan is for programmers who also like to game

Ysmir67233236d ago

If you are a pc gamer,you know that already.Titan isnt for professional programmers,just amateur ones.

sarlucic3236d ago

That makes no sense what so ever. It is for people doing 3D, CAD, Video editing and what not where many cuda cores, lots of vram and ect matters. I don't know what kind of programmers would need a graphic card of that caliber.

FlyingFoxy3236d ago

I only agree because Pascal so far has shown completely ridiculous pricing, at least for the 1080 and Titan.

ginsunuva3235d ago (Edited 3235d ago )

And how do you know there will be a 1080Ti?

They only started doing the whole *80Ti thing recently. They sometimes do *60Tis instead.
Sometimes neither.

Naughty_Cloud3236d ago (Edited 3236d ago )

It's gonna be quite amazing when the next gtx 70 (970/1070) card will match the performance, and even surpass it. Like the current 1070.
