No Man’s Sky uncovered in 26 minute gameplay video before release

Someone has posted a 26 minute gameplay video of No Man's Sky.

It really doesn't look too bad. That guy was just slow and didn't teleport items back to the ship. He kept going back when his inventory was full. I'd say an hour, at most to get your ship going. Based off what has been seen so far. Probably much less if you prioritize gathering and repairs over exploration.

I now regret watching it and would encourage others to not see it...
From what I have seen, it is so much more than initially thought of...
For me, it is worth the hype...

@shuvam Ha, if I worried about disagrees I wouldn't come on n4g. I just figure it's people who want the game to fail. I guess they figure it's better for someone to attempt make it sound bad by saying its a grind. When it's far from it. An hour at most to get your ship going and equipment fixed, is very far from a grind, in video game terms. Sure you will need to gather other things along the way. But you will be doing that anyway, to trade, unless you want to play the game as the poorest explorer in the universe.

Eh, the fact that it was a compressed 480p video didn't help. As long as in the PC version there is an option for FOV I'm golden because that is my biggest complaint about it, anything else is gravy for me.

Guys do your best to avoid these videos. There's something special about going into the game not knowing nothing. Sean and his company has achieve from keeping everything about the game under wraps. Only less than 2 weeks to go.

I will 100% not be watching any vids for this game, as I made my decision a while back to get it. I'm not going to rag on people that want to consume everything they can about the game they are excited for, but I definitely don't like doing that. That's not to say that it is not tempting to do so.
I just have to try to push it out of my mind, so that it does not drive me crazy!
I am really excited at the exploring prospect of this game. I certainly don't want to know what I could find BEFORE I even look. :)

No thanks. I'll watch any video I want since I don't appreciate the cloak and dagger approach this game received prior to release only showing specific things. Real gameplay trumps any developer B-roll footage imaginable.

We've seen real gameplay more than once in the last year or so. Not sure what you mean about cloak and dagger. The devs have been perfectly clear on what this game is since it was revealed.

I agreed with samarshall myself. I watched the entire 26 minutes and all you do is shoot rocks, mining and grinding. It is not my type of game and as far as I know, all planets will be the same except for randomly generated settings. It will get boring after awhile for many gamers.

I've been holding off and waiting for an unofficial video like this from a real gamer. Thankfully, looks like what they've been showing us, so to me they've been honest about their product - unlike all the other AAA demos from greedy execs and marketing scum who high-five one another and rub each other off in celebration of conning the masses into preorders with their doctored garbage (aka false advertising to the FTC - even as demos, if you read). I was hoping I was wrong in being worried it would look worse than demos with all the industry lying.

IMO, small teams on first attempt open world games should also stick with minimalist graphics like this so they can focus on patching post release gameplay mechanics, AI, background systems, etc. instead of dealing with graphics issues - which it will still have. FPS still looks smooth and that's all I care about with open world (looking at you FO4) because fps drops kill immersion and I get motion sickness (my problem though). I am going to support this very ambitious and small team's efforts.

don't you guys know anything about this game.. The game is beautiful.. The planets are beautiful both the colorful ones and the ones that look drab... That's what space is all about...

the graphics are fine... you guys need to seriously do some head checking... GRAPHICS do not make or break a game...

the way a game look doesn't affect the content the game has or the things you can do inside the actual game...

once again.. GRAPHICS ARE NOT EVERYTHING...

if you think NMS has a graphical issue then you should get your eyes checked.

If you're curious about how the basic functions of the game work and what you can briefly expect to do in the first few minutes then this video has what you want.

I think it's a tad disingenuous to say, now, that the graphics "suck" or are "ok". They are just what they were...part of a minimalistic art style that are representative of the sci-fi comics and book covers from the 1950's. Plus, we've seen plenty of coverage to know that it wasn't going for anything more than that.
IMO, those that know what the game is and have been following will enjoy it. Those that have an idea, but heap their own preconceived notions on it, might be disappointed. This game is more Don't Starve and less Mass Effect...and I am good with that.

Your beginning of the game is going to differ from this dudes beginning. He literally ran around on a planet that you will never see and gathered mats to fix his ship. That's pretty much the whole game from what I can tell, you land on unknown planets, collect mats, upgrade your ship/weapons/suit and other things to get more powerful gear, then proceed towards the center of the universe. I'm hoping you will encounter aliens that will have quests for you as well pertaining to the planets that you stumble upon them on.

Dude you can rob traders, fend of space pirates from robbing you by engaging in dogfighting,fend off wildlife and other hazards on planets, meet different species to trade with and find monoliths to learn their language,become wanted by the galaxy sentinels while yes upgrading your ship and suit to travel further into the center of the universe. See if someone was truly interested in the game and not with concern trolling they would know these things considering they've all be known about and shown in the last year
