Wish I invested in Nintendo last week.

Hroach6162840d ago

I was thinking the same. Those figures are insane. Go Nintendo

UltimateMaster2838d ago

Not as much as AMD in the beginning of the year.

Erik73572840d ago (Edited 2839d ago )

I actually did ONE WEEK AGO...crazy timing right? Im not even fckin joking with you man haha

Bogan2840d ago (Edited 2840d ago )

Just Wow and when people comment Nintendo is finished they turn around and hit u in the face with this massive money making machine.

Well done Nintendo it looks like your venture into the mobile arena wasn't such a bad idea after all.

feraldrgn2840d ago

I don't think that's what people meant when they said Nintendo is finished, I think a lot of people were talking about their console division.
Nintendo are kings & queens when it comes to handhelds.

_-EDMIX-_2840d ago

Agreed. As Somebody that has commented on many Nintendo articles, I don't believe I've ever stated Nintendo as a company was finished , as opposed to a hardware manufacturer and this sort of points to that likely happening.

All this does is further proves what I've been saying for a very long time that this company cannot afford to keep spending billions Marketing and developing consoles just to have a small limited install base.

who on Earth wants to spend more and earn less?

This shows that Nintendo very much can survive as a software only company and do fine. I personally don't believe the company should be wasting time with Hardware anymore as it's extremely costly and is not giving them great returns in comparison to just software sales.

The goal is to make money and I don't see them doing that with a smaller , limited install base when they could simply join an existing install base for zero cost.

feraldrgn2840d ago

@EDMIX
I semi agree with you, but I would like Nintendo to continue with their handhelds.

badz1492840d ago

Pokemon GO is as casual a pokemon game as you can get. It has nothing to do with core gaming experience. Congrats to Ninty for making so much with such a shallow game.

But are they gonna shift focus to mobile only after this? Looks plausible and if that happens, Nintendo will be just like Apple - so much money, yet irrelevant as far as core gaming is concerned!

_-EDMIX-_2840d ago

That's over all irrelevant to Nintendo Nintendo's goal is to make money not lose money to show off for core Gamers if that was the case it would keep releasing Wii U and losing billions right?

andrewsquall2840d ago

But they are still dead to me. Still waiting for a main Pokemon series game that comes even a tiny bit close to the visuals of FFVII. I'm waiting nearly 20 years now. :(

ABBAJESUS2840d ago

gg nintendo :) Now you only need to make 1 great console again!

warriorcase2840d ago

fun fact. Nintendo actually has nothing to do with the development of this game at all. The developer is Niantic, makers of the augmented reality game Ingress on which the technology and design of Pokémon Go is based on and has been published by the pokemon company which is only owned 1/3rd by nintend. they had no direct hand in its creation. did you notice any nintendo logos in game? Thats the beauty of marketing and affiliation :D good thing for nintendo, hope they back up the eyes on exposure to push out some good NX news

EddieNX 2840d ago

Nintendo owns the Pokemon IP though

andrewsquall2840d ago

That would explain the game somehow looking better graphically than the actual main Pokemon series of games.

miyamoto2840d ago

And this time it's not on a Nintendo owned platform and they piggyback on the popularity of Android and iOS which guarantees million's of $$$ in advertisement revenue.
This game also sells on strength of brand name and that has nothing to do with the quality of the game yet.

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

GamerRN11h ago

If they are let go, they can be whatever they want. They ARE 3rd party now... 🤦

Barlos8h ago

Yeah, they're also jobless.

GamerRN1h ago

They can form a company if they want, they are just as jobless as if "Microsoft had left them as 3rd party".

peppeaccardo3h ago

"MIcrosoft leaves Bethesda do what they know how to do best" ... close! Oh the irony ....
(Citation from a week old article)

PassNextquestion13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

blacktiger11h ago

that's a shame for you to say that, i'm sure Elite loves hearing what you just said.

Profchaos13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto13h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.

Profchaos12h ago

Possibly guven all the leaks we know the Xbox brand is really struggling in the region.

Yi-Long9h ago

Well, if your consoles and games are barely found in any stores any more, of course you're gonna struggle finding consumers ...

XiNatsuDragnel12h ago

Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo

Profchaos10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

I think it would have been better for all parties really especially gamers

TheColbertinator11h ago

The recently purchased Activision French offices might take over all the licensing and marketing for Microsoft in France from now on.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H91d 7h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog14h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.
