People are seriously doing stupid things for this game but it's not the games fault. People are just stupid. However, to avoid this, I do think they should implement it so that Pokemon can't appear in certain areas.

that's like saying car makers should implement a way for cars not to leave a road

this world needs to stop looking for excuses for stupid behaviors and these people need to be more responsible. I don't play Go, but they need to leave it alone and not waste time/money on changes because some people are stupid.

I would agree with you normally (especially in this case because these guys were adults) but there are lots of children playing the game and could easily wander into inappropriate areas because there are pokemon there. For example, why have pokemon appear in a quarry??

Aenea2840d ago (Edited 2840d ago )

But that's not something that's not so easy to do, who or what is adding the info that places are a no-go so that games like these can make sure nothing of interest is there.

And what do you do when it's a smallish area that is dangerous but around it it's safe and someone tries to cross that area anyways because they can see something game related in a close-by safe spot? Sure the game could warn you if you venture inside the unsafe spot anyways but would people pay attention to it or just ignore it?

I mean, sjeesh, they were walking near a cliff, didn't they not notice that at all or did they just take the risk?

I agree it's not an easy solution and certainly wouldn't work in all cases. My quarry example might not work in this case but with the cliff talked about in the article, it should be easier to implement because it would already know there is a cliff there.

I've thought about that warning option as well. Like if you're about to walk off the path and onto the road. However I can't see that being reliable and god knows that people would stupidly rely on it. All it would take is a split second hitch in the GPS tracking and boom, someone has walked onto the road and lawsuits are incoming.

There are some solutions but yeah, they aren't easy. It's tough to combat stupidity :/

Do you realize you are asking the game developers to go over the entire surface of the earth and mark out any areas deemed unsafe?

I mean, we aren't talking about going through the map of a normal game and making some changes, you are talking about the entire surface of the planet.

And what is deemed to be unsafe anyway?

What about drug houses and bad neighborhoods? Should there be no pokemon at all on the south side of Chicago, for instance?

Even with the example of the cliff, what about people at the bottom of the cliff that could happily hunt Pokemon in perfect safety? (Unless of course somebody from above falls on them) lol

My point is, it would be prohibitively expensive and/or impossible for them to do what you are asking.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier if people JUST WEREN'T IDIOTS??

Sounds like the game ended on a cliff hanger for them!

Fullmetalevolust2840d ago

oh okay, well the guys are fine, lesson learned I suppose. 80 feet fall and unconscious, not worth catching any pokemon...well, except if it's legendary.

You are gonna abandon your feminine character and you are gonna like it - Niantic and Nintendo Probably

CobraKai5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Ugh!!! Wtf?!? Why are they cancelling feminine women

MeteorPanda5d ago

Have they never seen female hips? lol

Inverno5d ago

They removed curves and made em look sickly. But hey now you can make a morbidly obese character, or a very buff chick. Tell me how I'm the crazy one, and how there nothing wrong with this. Gaslight me by asking why I'm bothered by video game characters not looking sexy and by telling me that i don't know how real women look like. Smh

isarai5d ago

So we just canceling women now? 😒
