DualShockers reported a couple of days ago that PQube will release Marvelous’ Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni for PS Vita without cutting any content, despite the game’s certainly titillating nature.
DualShockers reached out to PQube’s PR Executive Peter Nathaniel Fury in order to get more information, and he provided a certainly interesting explanation on the reasons behind the decision and on the challenges brought by this kind of approach, on top of confirming that the game will be released with Japanese voice overs with English subtitles.
Vapourware can end up being the stuff of legend, like Rockstar's Agent, Star Wars 1313, or StarCraft: Ghost. Without ever seeing the light of day, these games never risked the possibility of being played and forgotten, and instead live on forever as the subjects of lengthy YouTube essays.
Still, Molyneux's most notable lost game (or tech demo, depending on who you asked at the time) was arguably Project Milo.
I can see the potential of the kinect hardware... its rather impressive tech, but it was just not meant to be for gaming. If anything, MS had a huge missed opportunity to have used it for the AR/VR projects.
"Unfortunately, as we were developing Milo, so the Kinect device was being developed. And they realised that the device that Alex Kipman first showed off would cost $5,000 for consumers to buy.
"So they cost-reduced that device down to such a point, where the field-of-view...I think it was a minuscule field-of-view. In other words, it could only just see what's straight in front of you."
Hmm, exactly what tech was in it, that was cut, affected the development? It was only ever interpreting visual and audio inputs right? The xbox was processing those inputs.
Nor do I see how the field of view thing is relevant to the discussion.
Shuhei Yoshida offers his take on the recent industry implosion and ponders whether there's light at the end of the tunnel.
It's also screwing over gamers with limited budgets for PC hardware, well Nvidia is trying to at least.
OK, but what did Shu do about this while he was working in the industry?
If he felt so strongly about it, why didn't he quit sooner?
I'm honestly getting a bit tired of seeing this guy come out with all this stuff, week after week, yet he didn't seem to do anything about it when he was a prominent figure IN the industry.
*I got passed over for the CEO role and sidelined into an Indies CRM role, but I just sucked it up and did it for several years.* Great.
As gamers we also need to make it clear what we want. Do we want fancy RT and RT
shadows, global illumination etc? Oh that's right we have to do the internet thing and brag about all those things. What we need is innovative gameplay mechanics and deeper more dynamic story telling and reactive realistic worlds and characters imo. Emphasis on Innovative gameplay mechanics. Expedition 33 was made by a tiny group of 30 ppl. Not sure what the budget was but I know it wasn't no 400m$ project or nothing crazy like that.
They join the Baldurs Gate team for being independent and releasing great game with out corporate meddling and stupidly big budget's that kills jobs and studios. If more groups get to together remain independent and create games for gamers and fans this industry would be better off in the future. Again it's about getting away from big corpos because corpos aren't gonna change, ever, they're just not. Scary to be out on your own? Yes but high risk high reward again as we've seen.

This is a really interesting read and explains why a lot of publishers end up censoring games and why a lot of SJWs have more sway than they should despite their not buying the games they influence no matter what.
Because these publishing companies are negotiating with an older generation or people that are just out of touch, they can be easily influenced by that loud vocal minority that is saying a product is sexist because of the way it portrays women. A place like Target or Walmart isnt necessarily going to want to associate themselves with a product like that because a lot of their goods are geared towards the female audience, particular house wives. So if you get these extremist SJW groups actively lobbying against a game by going to these major retailers and spreading lies about the game being sexist against women.
We know this happens because their have been stories in the past about this exact sort of behavior. Also, retailers have decided not to stock GTA 5 on the grounds that it was sexist towards women. So it seems like the real issue isnt the ratings but negotiating with retailers to stock the game.Very interesting and all the more reason to buy this game to support their efforts.
Great!!! Bring on the boobage
It is a shame that other Japanese titles have been censored in order to be released in the West.
