With New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe finally out, it may not be the Mario we've been waiting for. Something's missing.
IGN staff was chatting about how they think this is the final "New" Super Mario game release (NSMBU Deluxe) and I'm happy they think so. It's time for a new engine and a totally innovative 2D Mario. Endless possibilities. Just knock it out the park! Make another all-time classic!
Its been 5 years since the original Wii U release of the game. Plenty of time to of made a new entry.
I never understood the massive wiiu filesize for this game. it was like 11gb and the wiiu could hold 32gb
The NSMBU+NSLU bundle includes over 100 bonus videos containing things you would see in NSMBW's Peach's Castle. Basically tips and tricks along with best play times on levels. Individually the NSMBU was about 2.3 and with NSLU it was an additional 700mb because it used assets from the base game minus all the vides.
I'd love for them to go further with the Mario Maker idea, and do it properly. User generated content was awesome in LBP, no reason it couldn't work here.
The next new 2D Mario has to logically do something to stand on its own.

NSMBW paid homage to SMB2 with four characters
NSMB2 paid homage to SMB3 with Super Leaf
NSMBU paid homage to SMW with baby Yoshis and connected overworld
Nintendo can’t rely on a NSMB paying heavy homage to a successive classic Mario game anymore. They need to make a new one that’s just as creative as the ones that came before like DKCR & DKC:TF were to the DKC games
de Blob was originally launched on Wii back in June 2008. the developers are finally bringing this platform-puzzle game to PC.
The homebrew scene for the Wiiu is getting rather interesting lately. They also uncensored Tokyo Mirage among other things.
