The Top 10 Single Player Games of 2016 So Far

OnlySP: Well, we’re already half way through 2016, a year many would say has had indie games reigning supreme. And though there is certainly an excellent selection of quality independents, it’s a good sign that the AAA studios can still wow us with games like Uncharted 4.

I agree with most of the picks although I don't really think Quantum Break should be one of them. Even though I have not played Quantum Break and am likely never to play it all the reviews and gameplay I have seen of the game just don't warrant it being part of the best games (so far) of 2016.

One of the main reasons I find Quantum Break a mixed bag is the developer tried to marry up what can be called passive entertainment (ie. TV, movies, shows etc) with active entertainment (ie. games, sports etc). Now for those people that like this then fine but when I play a game I don't want to be interrupted by live entertainment for over 20 minutes even though it is possible to skip.

You've just said you haven't played the game so how can you say you don't believe it deserves to be part of the best games of 2016. (I haven't played it either). It could either be worse or better than reviews, but without playing it you can have no opinion on the game.

I would almost not consider Dark Souls III to be single player, since a lot of players are co-oping all the bosses. A lot of great games on that list though.

Some people like to play souls games offline. Some prefer thier first run offline and at ng+ they play online.

The Souls series and Bloodborne are all single player with a multiplayer online component where it is possible to write helpful or misleading hints as well as PvP and Coop.

As a person who is not overly fond of FPS games, I found the single player campaign part of Doom geat fun to play.

I have Quantum Break, it wasn't a bad linear game by any means. The X1 version even looks great. No complaints for me on that game. Not a 10/10 by any means but a decent game. Short, but good. Same with Uncharted 4, great linear game.

Haven't played Dark Souls III yet. I bough Dark Souls and its DLC three weeks before the launch of DSIII. Played Bloodborne all last year. Finished Dark Souls up and now I'm on Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. I'll probably finish it in two or three weeks from now. Then I'm on to Demon's Souls (Yep, bought a PS3 three weeks ago brand new just for that one game, LOL). Then Dark Souls III.

There is a huge factor/gap between theses great games though. Game length. Uncharted 4 is a great game, a great linear game that my first playthrough was 15 hours in length. Second (Collectable) run was around 17 hours in length. Quantum Break was the same, maybe shorter in length for both playthroughs.

This is where the gap factor sets in for me with these games. I'll have 200 hours plus for DS III guessing. I had 185 hours for Dark Souls, I'm at 100 hours on DSII:SOTFS and I'm not near finished with it yet. I had 215 hours for Bloodborne, don't know how long Demon's Souls will be. I'm 250 hours on The Witcher 3 and I'm only in Skellige Islands with a million "?'s" left to venture to.

Uncharted 4 is good, Quantum Break is good, Inside is good........but good for a very short time. I've been playing The Witcher 3 / Souls series for over a year straight and not even close to finishing either series anytime soon. I get Uncharted has MP........but the time I will have in MP will be slim I'm sure. Atleast it had a mp though. So really for me, games like The Witcher 3 / Souls series gets 10/10 from me, games like Uncharted 4 / Quantum Break / Inside, gets pretty much 8/10, 9/10. No more than that though.

Its all in how you value your game. A huge part of my value is time/game length.

well a man finds the souls games to be more frustrating than fun so quality isn't there. A man platinumed Demon's Souls and it took him a long time. Doesn't mean it was better than the marvelous 15 hours he spent in Uncharted. Plus with multiplayer games the maps get tired while a great SP game will be great forever and always revistable like a great film vs. a big blockbuster with no heart

Inside and Firewatch were cool. I wasn't overly impressed by the ending of Firewatch though...
