I agree. I loved the alpha demo and it seems like they have listened to feedback and are working on making it even better. This is one of my very most anticipated games.

robtion3232d ago

Yep me too. The Beta in August should be cool, I spent 20+ hours on the first demo.

Really wish they would give a release date though.

starchild3232d ago

Yeah, I probably spent around that much time in the first demo. But, hey, I beat both areas and got my 'Mark of the Conqueror' DLC award. Plus I had an amazingly good time. So it was all worth it. I'm really looking forward to the beta too. The game reminds me of some of my favorite series such as Ninja Gaiden, Dark Souls, Tenchu and Onimusha. I want them to polish it as much as possible and really let it fulfill its potential, but at the same time I hope we don't have to wait 'too' long for the game to come out.

robtion3232d ago

@starchild Yeah I couldn't beat the second boss even after 30+ tries but did everything else.

We like the same games. I love Tenchu and have played them all since the original ps1 Stealth Assassins. I even play Shinobido 2 on the Vita quite a bit as it is made by Acquire who made the original Tenchu games.

Yep I don't want them to rush Nioh but some idea of when it will be out would be nice. I'm assuming 2017?

starchild3232d ago

Cool, it does seem like we like a lot of the same games. I'm a fan of Shinobido too and I still play the one on PS2 from time to time, but I never got around to playing the second one on the Vita. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to get a Vita, but then I never ended up getting a Vita. Would you say it is worth it to get a Vita at this point?

Anyway, yeah I'm also a huge fan of the Tenchu games. So much so that I still play Stealth Assassins to this day, along with the other ones.

Aside from the excellent combat system in Nioh I think part of what makes me like the game so much is the atmosphere, which reminds me of the Tenchu games.

I hope by the time of the beta at least we might get a release date.

robtion3232d ago

@starchild Yep the Tenchu like atmosphere is noticeable in Nioh. My wife even commented on it when she saw me playing the demo.

Have you tried Styx master of shadows? Not bad for fans of old school stealth.

As for the Vita it's not bad but not really a lot of support for it. Good for playing old games like the Jak collection, Ratchet collection, Shinobido 2, and a few others though. Plus lots of Indy's. Also Gravity Rush, though that's on ps4 now.

This game, Gravity Rush 2, No Man's Sky, last guardian, I Am Setsuna and Hell blade are on my list.
these and many multiplataforms like, Titan Fall 2 and infinite warfare.

Chaos_Order3232d ago

The alpha kicked my ass and left me begging for mercy. Can't wait to see what the full game has in store. :)

jessionpc3232d ago

Yea totally, lets make a game so hard it can have only about 3 hours of legitimate content in the game, but it feels like 15 just because of constant hair pulling difficulty.

Bloodborne/DS were the perfect balance of difficulty/progression/content ...

This game's going to suck.

HARD. I wager less than 500k sales first month.

Ginpachi-sama3232d ago

Ur just mad cuz u suck at it

Blastoise3232d ago

Do you ever have anything positive to say about anything?

The game seems great and it's only looking better. Nobody cares about sales.

Kurdishcurse3232d ago

It aint the games fault you failed at grasping its mechanics. And in these "3 hours" of legitimate content there was higher enemy variety than 30 hours of witcher.

nitus103232d ago (Edited 3232d ago )

I spent the first 15 ~ 20 minutes of the game trying to find a weapon. Punching does not work all that well against weapon-wielding bandits nor does it help against level one ayakashi undead. Also, it's not a good idea to swim in the sea.

Once I did get a katana I started to kick some but it does not take long before it breaks Fortunately I did get an axe and like in Dark Souls and Bloodborne the Axe can be a devastating weapon and keeps it's strength longer than a katana.

@jessionpc

If you liked Dark Souls how about a little challenge, try to get to Anor Londo and compleat the Painting on level 15. Some can do it on lower levels and that is without cheating. Take a look at the top 100 sinners and tell me how is it possible to be level 120 with all stats maxed and have a hp in the millions.

I would liken Nioh to doing what I have just suggested however you can level up fairly easy in Nioh as well as get reasonably good weapons and armour with about an hours grind although Initially, you will die allot. The higher level ayakashi are the best to attack but you do have to be careful since their AI is pretty good. Attacking a higher level ayakashi is risky but the rewards are so much better.

I do agree that Bloodborne and Dark Souls are a nice (I would not say perfect) balance of difficulty/progression/content but you really do have to "git gud" although as long as you can persevere you will definitely "git bttr". In many ways, Nioh is no different although IMHO the fighting techniques are much more elaborate.

In many ways, I do think Nioh is a spiritual successor to the Souls series and Bloodborne It definitely is more visceral, but I also think there will be many casual players that will winge just because it does not have an easy mode.

sullynathan3232d ago

just want them to release the demo already.

AAA has gone downhill as they focus on huge profits. Indie and other smaller games however have been amazing not chasing trends and the next big thing.

Redemption-648h ago

In all honesty, a significant majority of indies and smaller games fail. At best a you might hear about 10-20 indies that get attention or do well, but 100s more fail. AAA games can still be the bread and butter of the industry, but greedy executives would kill a good game if it doesn't make them a lot of money

Ethereal11h ago

Nail on the head. AAA has lost the magic and focused on profits and "player engagement". Gaming is an art form, and like always the CEO fat cats roll in to capitalize at the cost of innovation, passion, wild experimentation. We need a major realignment in the industry and it starts with gamers voting with their wallets.

Killer2020UK9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I think that's already happening, we're seeing commercial successes in studios like Larion and whoever made Kingdom Come for example. Double Fine is another good example. Studios who are filled with and run by people who give a fuck that aren't hamstrung by money men. That's the answer and consumers are favouring it more than the soulless AAAs that have been put out. I don't doubt there is talent at Ubisoft for example but when they're told exactly what the end product needs to be by people who don't know what consumers actually want, it's always going to result in the same rehashed but slightly shinier slop.

Ethereal9h ago

Exactly. I do believe we are starting to see a shift in consumer habits. The market is saturated with GaaS and battlepasses, seasons, etc. We can't all play the same four games until the end of time. Fatigue is setting in and the industry needs to get back to making new experiences rather than chasing the latest "money maker".

Killer2020UK8h ago

I was wondering whether this is perception or actually happening but it feels to me, as a semi old gamer, there is more choice than ever and as such people are now much choosier about how they spend their time and money gaming. Certainly noticing this when it comes to GaaS as you mentioned, the question always has to be why would I play this instead of what I'm already playing. Anthem is going to have a real hard time prying away people, especially with a premium price tag that screams money men as a decision.

Palitera3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Nah. Devs need to pay the bills. Uninspired games fail, but artsy games usually fail even harder.

She didn't even call out Stanfield's PNG file planets when she flew through one. She just 'yelled' something stupid like 'flat earth'. She wasn't even taken aback in the slightest. I am not sure she isn't a part of the problem.

Aloymetal10h ago

She's always been a narcissist bimbo, I'm even more surprised she's not in only fans yet.

"Former", wow she didn't last at SM Studios very long at all.

isarai10h ago

4yrs is pretty good not sure what ur talking about

Cellblock117h ago

I wasn't sure of the actual number of years just seemed like it wasn't that long ago when I heard that she got a job as a writer there, guess time flies. 4 years being "pretty good" or not is subjective depending on ones perspective. The question might be, was four years long enough to make a discernible writing contribution to a video game based on how long development cycles are these days?

QuantumMechanic9h ago

She left SMS because she needed to go back to Australia to support a parent with cancer.

Petebloodyonion4h ago

She quit SM studio to focus on her own stuff, There was a video where she explained all of it.

SpacedDuck1h ago

Okay, explain like the other 50 jobs she's had and hasn't held......

I think she likes to bend the truth a ton on how involved she is and when her lies catch up with her she moves on to start a new batch.

Greed , lack of innovation and agendas

Why do we rave about a good indie game but we avoid a AAA game.

"Seeing Nintendo do this is a little disheartening" - Switch 2 & the state of game preservation

The worry is that at some point down the line, Nintendo's Switch 2 eShop will close – just as the Wii U and 3DS eShops did – and these Game-Key Cards will be dependent on Nintendo's servers supporting downloads of existing titles long into the future.

"Seeing Nintendo do this is a little disheartening".

Let's ignore the fact that this is 3rd party devs who are opting to do this to save on manufacturing costs. Is Nintendo supposed to just tell them No?

hombreacabado11h ago

nintendo will also publish games that are on key cards. nintendo should tell them no because what is the point of purchasing a physical game and having it be a digital download. that entire debacle should be outlawed and banned.

ZycoFox14h ago

The key cards are kinda garbage. The only plus is that you can resell them.

I think anyone buying a Switch 2 should only buy the full game cards and ignore the key cards. If you have a PC or PS5/Xbox you'd probably buy the third party titles for one of those anyway since they will look and run better, except for the ones lighter on the hardware of course.
