For the record lower ranks in the beginning of a new season is the equvalent of higher ranks later in the season in terms of the difficulty of opponents. This is because the better half of the spectrum has to get back to the top.

Though I really enjoy playing grand champions and have even gotten matched up against some famous players after the reset as a pleasant surprise.
I think everyone should try and see the positive in meeting high tier opponents as we can learn alot from observing them in action as opposed to giving up or complaining from kick off.

On a last note, for those of you using

you'll see that when playing someone ranked alot higher than you and lose, you lose considerably less amounts of points than if you lost to someone ranked the same as you and vice versa.

I get why he feels that way. Honestly I love it I get tired of playing superstars champions and all Stars and it's refreshing to just fool around and still win. That being said everything will work itself out as the rankings start to pan out. I haven't been putting much effort in and neither has my team and we are only challenger 2 right now but we are enjoying the climb all over again.

Either way, I skip Rocket League every couple of days and am only a master but have made it to Challenger 1 in a day.

I disagree with the upset author of this article. Just because a flawed ranking system got reset and new players and old players are playing with eachother as the rankings smooth out is not something to be upset about. The good players will rank up and the bad ones will rank down. If you really dont want to do it dont play right when the rankings get reset. IF your good you win and you get ranked up. I have seen zero issues this season personally and i was playing within the first hour of season 3. Playing against grand champions and noobs of the like has been fun. If your good you win and you rank up. I had no issues getting to challenger 1 and found myself playing with people i thought were appropriate of my rank fairly quickly. If your not good enough you wont rank up plain and simple. Psyonix isnt going to look into anything theres is nothing to look into. The ranks got reset. Thank god we are playing with good and bad people or we would have known the ranking reset didnt work.

The only thing that frustrates me is when I go into a ranked match of 3's as a legend and my teammates are pro or semi pro and can't even aerial, let alone understand the fundamentals. Sigh, it is indeed fun when you are the one being rocket league jesus in a match full of noob though. Oh well, still playing the piss out of it and overwatch.

And for non-ranked matches they still REFUSE to fix matchmaking. The latest patch actually made it WORSE. Now I get thrown into games that are instantly forfeited, where I don't even appear as a player. That's a brand new annoyance, in addition to the others that would seem so easy to fix if anyone gave a sh*t. STOP repeatedly throwing me into 7-0 matches with a minute left; penalize the quitters, not everyone else that simply wants to play a full game. STOP throwing me back into the same game I just quit because of this BS. STOP assigning the exact same unbalanced teams even when no one voted for rematch; mix them up, instead of using the same braindead algorithm that'll always yield the same result; what the h*ll was the whole point of "vote rematch", otherwise? Fun game, but I can hardly play anymore, and after a year+ of waiting it's clear they're never going to address it.

I agree, that does suck. I also don't like how they have added a second unconventional Arena to Ranked. I'm actually fairly decent on the new Neo Tokyo Arena, but I don't think it should be in ranked.
