Scorpios Beyond industry standards at this point it's off the charts it's almost as powerful as a new GTX 1070 that type of power in a console is absolute insanity I'm buying one for sure and I'm also extremely excited for the PS4 Neo.

Hoffmann2953d ago

that type of power in a console is absolute insanity

Today it would be insane indeed. But they release it in 18 months. By that time, it won't be that insane anymore.

MachuchalBrotha3162953d ago

Of course it will be...we haven't had a console that powerful before.

jmidd002953d ago

No. Today it would be insane and a year from now it would be insane. Hell 3 years from now it would be insane.

rainslacker2952d ago

It'll still be up there. I'd imagine most PCs that aren't bargain basement priced will come with a similar GPU by then.

This may be the first time that a new console will release where the GPU is actually on par with what current PC's are getting....although most development will still be targeted at a lower denominator of 2-3 year old GPU's.

ULTp0ltergeist2952d ago (Edited 2952d ago )

It will still be pretty damn powerful even by launch. A very confined yet highly customized hardware at 6tflops is very powerful. All Microsoft needs to do is start pouring resources into new studios with talent and create some fantastic games. New MOBA with triple A production graphics, a fun multiplayer-online game with great co-op story. They need to use these hardware to innovative into a new genre of games that will push Scorpio and PC in terms of graphics and AI, especially AI. Make use of the CLOUD and innovate on AI with a multiplayer-online game.

Scorpio is "Beyond Reality" right now as it doesn't exist yet.

Should maybe temper expectations until the console has actually been revealed. At this point it is just the number '6 tflops' & lord knows things can change from reveal to release if history is anything to go by.

freshslicepizza2952d ago

your expectations are not tempered, they are pessimistic. so how can you tell others to calm down while you are doing your best to downplay it?

jb2272952d ago

@moldy

I wouldn't call my expectations 'pessimistic', I'd say they fall closer to 'realistic'. I'm solely looking at the actual MS history and basing my interpretation off of that combined w/ the actual reveal.

XBO was initially revealed in a horrible manner, I'm sure any gamer would agree with that. Luckily, MS rolled that stuff back before launch after they got so much criticism, but we still ended up w/ a $500 box with a forced inclusion of Kinect. Again, luckily MS rolled that requirement back. MS has been making some good strides this gen, but only after making poor decisions. They aren't trailblazing, they are course correcting.

Then there's the 360, a box that upon release didn't include an HD media format option, didn't include Wi-Fi, didn't even include an HDMi port. On top of all of this, the RRoD forced failure on a very large percentage of boxes. Another botched launch that needed correcting.

The OG Xbox was most likely their most successful launch, but that box shipped w/ an insanely strange controller & only stayed on the market around 4 years so that gen had its draw backs as well.

This is the history of Xbox launches. All of these boxes were hyped before release, then had many issues that needed ironing out. Again, maybe MS has righted the ship & is seeing to it that this box releases in a solid manner, but that's also only part of the point.

This box was revealed w/o a form factor, w/o a price, w/o a release date, and w/o a single frame of gameplay. On top of that most devs attending E3 were as surprised as we were, as none of them actually had access to a dev kit yet.

I'd say anyone already falling for the PR talk hook, line & sinker and calling the Scorpio the second coming before it even has a name is just being naively optimistic. I'd personally rather be realistic or pessimistic & have my expectations blown away than be a complete optimist in the face of history only to have all of my lofty expectations cut down.

Maybe Scorpio releases as everything people want and then some, maybe it doesn't. I'm of the mind that the box will create issues out the gate across the XBO board w/ software, but eventually MS will fix those issues. Either way this is still a long way from release, and it'll be even longer before any potential hardware in that box is properly vetted & utilized.

@jb227
"I wouldn't call my expectations 'pessimistic', I'd say they fall closer to 'realistic'. I'm solely looking at the actual MS history and basing my interpretation off of that combined w/ the actual reveal."

you are not using history as a guideline, you are using your own personal baggage which is a much more pessimistic approach.

"XBO was initially revealed in a horrible manner, I'm sure any gamer would agree with that. Luckily, MS rolled that stuff back before launch after they got so much criticism, but we still ended up w/ a $500 box with a forced inclusion of Kinect. Again, luckily MS rolled that requirement back. MS has been making some good strides this gen, but only after making poor decisions. They aren't trailblazing, they are course correcting."

and this just proves my point. you are unable to let go and move forward. microsoft has new people and a new direction.

"Then there's the 360, a box that upon release didn't include an HD media format option, didn't include Wi-Fi, didn't even include an HDMi port. On top of all of this, the RRoD forced failure on a very large percentage of boxes. Another botched launch that needed correcting."

further proving my point of the baggage you want to bring here. what does rrod have to do with project scorpio? nothing, just a history lesson you want to bring us to be very cautious of microsoft, again not even relevant to project scorpio.

"This box was revealed w/o a form factor, w/o a price, w/o a release date, and w/o a single frame of gameplay. On top of that most devs attending E3 were as surprised as we were, as none of them actually had access to a dev kit yet."

did you miss the part where phil said that's why they announced it 18 months before release, to get the word out there to them? you are going on and on about nothing. you also forget this is just an upgraded xbox one, this is not a whole new system they have to re-learn. it's like adding a new cpu for computer deveopers to support. you are making it sound very complicated when it isn't. same games, just more power.

"I'd say anyone already falling for the PR talk hook, line & sinker and calling the Scorpio the second coming before it even has a name is just being naively optimistic. I'd personally rather be realistic or pessimistic & have my expectations blown away than be a complete optimist in the face of history only to have all of my lofty expectations cut down."

fine, but the truth of the matter is you are the complete opposite when it comes to project neo which we know even less about. that right there shows me you shouldn't even be around these discussions because your baggage does nothing to inform or help anyone except you just so you can lower your own expectations. who cares about what others think, it has no impact on you at all.

"Maybe Scorpio releases as everything people want and then some, maybe it doesn't. I'm of the mind that the box will create issues out the gate across the XBO board w/ software, but eventually MS will fix those issues. Either way this is still a long way from release, and it'll be even longer before any potential hardware in that box is properly vetted & utilized."

then ignore the topics about, ignore the comments about it (unless people are trolling sony articles to plug scorpio) and wait for it to be releasded and judge it when it comes out. but the reality is you can't because you enjoy this feud, this battle, this war, this division, this segregation between the two camps and want to partake in this battle of words.

jessionpc2952d ago

It's definitely an interesting experiment, I just wish it was done FOR this gen, and not half way through... Now i'll be down another 600+ fkn dollars...

I would have MUCH rather payed a couple hundred more off the start for the power, even if it was only like 4tflops, "due to it coming out 2.5 years ago."

qwerty6762953d ago

Curious to see how the new Tomb Raider will look on Scorpio. It's being announced they certainly have time to optimize for it.

esmittystud1012953d ago

So when we get updates for games we will get: X1 update, PC update, Scorpio update, PS4 update, PS4 Neo update. Correct? Just trying to figure out PS4 Neo updates will be separte from regular PS4 updates, right?

Sorry but the original Xbox One design looks a hell of a lot better than an original PS4..... the PS4's plastic housing makes it look like some cheap toy a child accidentally left sitting on my entertainment center. PS4 is hands down the worst looking and most uninspired console design ever.

And lets not even mention how horrible the menus and navigation are on the PS4 either..... 2 1/2 years later it's still ugly as fuck to look at when your not in a game, and for some reason I have to download mandatory system updates every month that never change a single fucking thing that's actually wrong with the console.

gtxgamer22953d ago

How are you enjoying your vcr?

dp2774072953d ago

I understand defend what you like and hey that might be your honest opinion but you gotta realize you start looking kinda dumb with those statements.

donthate2952d ago (Edited 2952d ago )

I couldn't agree more. My Xbox One is silent and blends in with my entertainment system. The PS4 sounds like a jet, has all these tiny nooks around that often clogs up with dust and I barely use that thing!

I do like the smaller size of PS4 though, but the jet taking off man, the jet!
