Marvel games business will only work with the "best game companies on earth" - Spider-Man

Spider-Man with Sony and Insomniac Games is the start of a brand new era for the Marvel Games business.

PS2 era was a long time ago and Activisions games on the PS3 never achieved the quality of Insomniac's Infamous games. I hope Marvel keep putting great Marvel characters in the hands of great studios. That trailer was one of the big highlights of E3, despite being so short. It captured Spiderman perfectly, and if we can move like that in game (like the restaurant scene), this will be a class of its own as far as super hero games go. Infamous Second Son was underrated, even if its story was very meh (the protagonist's brother just plain annoyed me). Gameplay was top notch though, and looked great. Fantastic achievement considering how close to launch it released. Still holds up today.

Sigh... I wish Netherrealms would be allowed to do a Marvel fighting game. Injustice 2 looks fantastic, but I like Marvel's character's better. Image had a lot of great characters too. DC just has a few IMO, but maybe I don't know enough about its universe.

I agree! This was a good game and that NOIR Spidey was awesome! This is a rare gem and even though it's not the open world Spiderman game we need, it was a great game nontheless.

Don't worry, you didn't miss much. Some are shit/average and some like spider-man 2 and ultimate are barely ok with the only fun is swinging. Shitty mission, shitty story (Ps1 spider-man's, Ultimate's were cool tho), shitty combat (Arkham-wannabe combat from the Amazing series was ok), shitty dialog.

I know, other than Batman Arkham, the other superheroes videogames are mediocre.... 7 to barely 8 in score/review....so i intentionally missed them...
But Insomniac's Spiderman is looking SUPERSOLID.....

Wow. This is a huge compliment to Sony. Marvel is pretty much saying that Sony makes the best games out there. Interest how Marvel says Activision is the past and Sony and Insomniac the future for Spider-Man games.

Insomniac has said it's entire team is focusing on Spider-Man. Since it's already been said that this game is the first of many. I guess Insomniac is turning once again into pretty much a Playstation exclusive developer.

For those that blame Sony, please blame the one really responsible for this: Marvel. I'm very ok with their business decision. Now Spider-Man might actually be good and worth playing.

Well insomniac has always been sony exclusive except for I believe 2 games the likes of being fuse and sunset overdrive the likes of which both sold poorly.

Yet on the ps4 they've had the ratchet and clank games and resistance all of which had sold great, in fact the latest ratchet and clank has broken all of insomniacs previous records sales wise.

Playstation is where their fans are and where there are fans there is profit.

Also don't forget that Ratchet and Clank was apparently ready to launch last year and then Sony (probably pissing off Insomniac slightly) stepped in and delayed it to time it for release with the movie.

So that means they have probably been working on the Spiderman game a while now with Ratchet and Clank getting a bit of polish until it launched in April.

Which brings me again to, how can we not even get a glimpse of the game that Sucker Punch must be working on right now (unless Sony close the studio tomorrow)? They released Infamous First Light pretty quickly after the launch of Infamous Second Son and that was almost 2 full years ago now. They don't need to build a game engine from the ground up for PS4 again, so you'd think they could get their next game out in the usual 2 year dev cycle. At least if they were to announce a new game today, we may get it by this time next year. But its looking like it won't be anytime soon now :(

And they did well banking on Insomniac Games who are an independent company that make games for whoever they want. They are thrilled to be working on this which is always a good thing.
This brings up the question, what are Sucker Punch actually working on the last 2 years? I wonder are they working on something else Marvel related but, in this case, they are in fact owned by Sony.
