The Witcher 3 Developer – “The NX Will Be Fantastic”

Developer CD Projekt Red is well known for their critically acclaimed series The Witcher, and in a recent interview it looks like they let some interesting information on the Nintendo NX out. This is a translated interview from German, but the impact of the words could be a great sign for Nintendo fans:

Duh Big N not playing around this time Take 2 now CDPR wow showing mad love for NX.

I just want Nintendo to release a powerful console that doesnt put them leaps and bounds behind Microsoft and Sony. I can accept it not being as powerful, but I don't want them to be so far behind in the power gap that it is like night and day unless we are seeing a 1st party game that uses a unique art style.

Gazda2864d ago

Nintendo made a huge mistake underpowering their console. But it wasnt because of saving money. Nintendo understands their games are not power demanding, and you can release mario and other games without the need for powerful hardware. Games themselves dont warrant the need for power. Its about gameplay. I think the nintendo execs sat down and discussed this and agreed majority of their games do not require the power of their competition.

The mistake they didnt consider is the developers outside their first party. They were focusing on tending to their property instead of the hand that feeds them. That hand being developers. 3rd party developers.

People buy consoles because of the content on that console, not because of the hardware itself.

How do you sell consoles when 3rd party developers cant release their product on your console without completely jeopardizing it?

I think theyve learned their lesson.

garrettbobbyferguson2864d ago

@Gazda

"Instead of the hand that feeds"

Considering that it is their own hand that feeds them, I would say that they did focus on the hand that feeds. Let me remind you of the gamecube/PS2/Xbox situation, in which the weakest console (The Ps2) got the most third party support.

NX is day one for me. It's actually the only true next gen console since Sony and Microsoft is just doing a mid gen update until the PS5 and Xbox Scorpio comes out.

Criti-Choco2864d ago

Only true next gen console, yet you know nothing about it.... right.

jcnba282864d ago

I'm really excited for NX but I hope people don't get their hopes up. NX will not be as powerful as NEO or Scorpio. Nintendo have clearly stated it's all about the content for them not graphical power.

fox0072864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

It will be more powerful then Neo in every aspect mate but the Scorpio will have more TF on the gpu then NX or Neo but in CPU power the NX will be much better with that supplemental device, also reggie's comments were just clarifying that no matter how powerful NX is they wont be using that to gain attention instead announce amazing games....oh and there is a new rumour that states NX is same as Neo power but less then Scorpio....

Zeldafan642864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

When the Wii U has a game like Xenoblade Chronicles X running on it how can anyone think the NX won't be powerful enough to run any third party games?

ShadowKnight2863d ago (Edited 2863d ago )

I don't want it to be more powerful. All I care about is more games.

If the NX is still a family friendly console I will pick it up. I owned every Nintendo console except the WiiU which was a stupid piece of hardware.

mep692864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

I used to love nintendo, i own most of their handheld devices. The last one i bought was the Wii, but i stopped using it because there was too much of a focus on gimmicks and kid games. I'm hoping that the NX is more diverse with its games so it can also cater to adult audiences too.

Speaking of which, when will we see it in action :O

Nintentional2864d ago

Buy some component cables for your Wii and use it to get some of the best picture quality out of Gamecube games. When you boot up a Gamecube game, press and hold B to have the game enable progressive scan :)

nowitzki20042864d ago

"I owned every Nintendo console except the WiiU which was a stupid piece of hardware."

Well since you never owned it I guess Ill take your word.

Inzo2864d ago

You have heard of demo play right?

wonderfulmonkeyman2864d ago

Pfft. Says you.
It's been one of the best pieces of hardware I've had from Nintendo; it's certainly an improvement over the Wii.

Inzo2864d ago

Pfft, says the millions who didnt buy.

"it's certainly an improvement over the Wii"

Yet developers state otherwise bud.

Clearly not enough to actually get support.

"Last year, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said his company wasn't worried about third-party publishers shying away from the Wii U. The Wii had its issues, yes, but Fils-Aime promised that history wouldn't repeat itself"

LMFAO! Yet....it did. They literally made the same crap propitiatory architecture and were all wondering why everyone was running away from them like the plague.

http://kotaku.com/5920931/t...

Funny thing, was predicted years ago, confirmed every year after its release. If NX is like Wii U, like Wii U was like Wii....it will not get supported, its very, very easy to call such things when you have a company that is known to have hearing problems and keeps making the same promises, yet making the same mistakes.

but hey, Wii U won't have the same issues that Wii had remember? LMFAO! How can anyone really believe anything Nintendo states UNTIL we get same hard facts about its specs and architecture?

mad-dog2864d ago

WiiU has some of the very best games of this gen. Real games. Not walking simulators.
You missed out on some true gems.

ninsigma2864d ago

Wii u isn't all that bad. It's actually a decent console with some good games but if you don't like the games then it's a bit pointless.

Inzo2864d ago

Its not the games, its the gimmicks, the Wii was fun but Nintendo could not leave well enough alone.

ninsigma2864d ago

I assume you're talking about the game pad?? To an extent I agree but generally I just ignore the screen. It works well to just use it as a standard controller for me and feels comfortable to hold despite its big size.

mad-dog2864d ago

Not sure what gimmicks he talks about since the gamepad "gimmick" isn't used that much at all.
Games mostly just use the controller like most other games and you can play offscreen.
So Inzo, you missed out on Pikmin 3 (masterpeice that many people missed out on), Mariokart 8 (one of the best in the series), Bayonetta 2, NSMBWiiU (best in the series), Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (amazing platformer), etc, etc. Most of these games don't use a single controller gimmick. Splatoon (a fresh take on shooters does have controls that use the padscreen but they do that in a great way.

You have no idea what you are talking about. But feel free to miss out and deprive yourself from anything you want.

nowitzki20042864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

The WiiU gamepad is amazing. Its my favorite thing about the WiiU and they better make it at least an option for NX. So nice playing my games without a TV, when its being used. It also has gameplay features other controllers just cant do.

Ive heard its too big, its heavy, etc people have trouble holding it...... My son is 4 and he has 0 problems with it lol, so those people better go see a doctor or something.

And you tried the demo?.... Well let me stop talking then you know everything there is to know about the WiiU.. /sorry

Zeldafan642863d ago

I hope the NX has an improved gamepad, slimmed down with more features and better battery life.

InTheZoneAC2864d ago

the wii was pretty terrible with it's gimmicky motion controls and never ending list of shovelware. Best thing they could do was VC and it's a shame they haven't kept up with it on the Wii U. I'm hoping the nx brings us all the VC support we could ask for, along with a normal sized no motion controller.

GordonKnight2864d ago

The Pro controller says "Hello". Also Earthbound is on the VC, but where is MK64 @ Starfox64.

Aquietguy2863d ago

@ Inzo
I guess the word gimmick is relative because I found nothing at all gimmicky about the gamepad. You can say it was big but that for a reason. It was for off screen and to able to use the gamepad as off screen for the wii. Both were great and I was surprised at how easy it was to use the gamepad for Wii games. Though it wouldn't work well for such a small screen but it worked as well as with a TV.

I have a feeling cyberpunk will also come out for nx. Plus get the witcher collection (2&3) if cdpr feel like it

mad-dog2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Ehh... i guess people didn't notice they were making fun?
Or at least it was a joke interview.

mad-dog2864d ago (Edited 2864d ago )

Yes they were. They were joking:

Though he does think (hope?) it (NX) will be great.

Pretty sure they were not really being serious bud.
