I am really excited to finally get into the XB1 library this year. And what better way than with the new 2tb slim. It has a few things i might not be able to take advantage of right away (UHD and HDR) because I use a 1080p tv but the price is good and the selection of games is good. And knowing that those same games will be playable on the next iteration in the XB1 family is a blessing. I also like the fact that i am not feeling rushed into getting a scorpio as I can get one when I feel the time is right.

I'm glad i held off in getting an XB1.

Welcome

As for the ridiculous article

I'll just leave thus here

Eonjay3300d ago

Its actually in stock right now. But I think this article is asking you to think long term. The Ouya sold out on Amazon initially too.

One loses all credibility when posting a link to ThisGenGaming.
And speaking of ridiculous articles, that site tried to post it here on N4g, and it was killed because it was false.
So, with that said... I'll just leave this right here:

What's the point in getting a PS4 if NEO is coming? We can go back and forth with this dumb game.

cleft53300d ago

If all of Sony's exclusives where coming to the PC, I wouldnt buy a PS4 Neo or PS4 either. The article asks a very valid question. Windows 10 is basically free and you can get a RX 480 for 200 to 250, which is going to be more powerful than the Xbox One S.

Lennoxb633300d ago

But the Xbox costs $279-$300. Add to the fact that you don't need a case, power supply, CPU, etc. Plus none of the technical knowledge to put it all together.

ARESWARLORD3300d ago

What's your gaming PC specs man

Xavy3300d ago

You had a field day with all the trolling on threads about NEO and now you cant take it when the tide has turned? lmao.

Xbone is done mate.

King_Lothric3300d ago

The article also says what's the point on getting the xbox One mini if all exclusives games are coming to PC. PlayStation exclusives are still going to be PlayStation exclusives. Xbox has no longer exclusives, hay are all going to PC now.

No. The S will be the only game system this year that plays all the great titles coming out plus having a UHD 4k blu ray drive built in and is at the magical $299 price point. It will sell like hot cakes. It will be like when the PS2 first came out and it was one of the cheapest DVD player on the market plus the added bonus of also play games.

The pre order is already at the top of the chart at Amazon, that is with the $399 2tb sku. Can you imagine the $299 sku!? The $299 Sku will be like Chocolate chip cookies. Impossible to resist and will do major damage at retails.

gangsta_red3300d ago

I love chocolate chip cookies!

I do give MS credit for actually providing release dates for most of the games they showed.

I'll be having a lot of vacation time after the summer...will need it with the games they're releasing.

GamingIVfun3300d ago (Edited 3300d ago )

Most they have shown for the last 3 years. Besides the games they canceled or pushed the release date on.

iceman063299d ago

The people that are aware enough to know about a UHD 4k blu ray drive are likely to know that the Scorpio is right around the corner. Casuals haven't really gone crazy over any of the many price cuts of the original Xbox One. (even with free game incentives) So, I don't see them going crazy over this new one. It will likely have some initial traction from those that want an upgrade but aren't prepared to drop money on the Scorpio and those that wanted a second system and was waiting for the slim. Thus, the Amazon numbers. What will impress me is if those numbers can hold for more than a week or two. Not saying you're wrong to be excited, but you might have jumped t gun a bit with those Amazon posts. That happens with newly announced tech of this magnitude.

Sweendog0073300d ago (Edited 3300d ago )

Why would people not want to invest in this ? If you have a 4K tv and movies then it's cheaper than want current uhd players are offering.

This article is stupid , do they not understand what ms is doing and the approach , 3 systems aimed at Diffrent users ... A lot of people watch 4K content but don't play enough games to care about 4K games

Some people just play the Xbox causal and could t care less what the specs are

others want high end specs

There's a market for everyone and Xbox is now much more than one console one generation is part of a family system with Xbox live connecting it all ...

How hard is it to understand , all games accessories work on Xbox one , Scorpio and slim without needing to buy Diffrent games ... One dics or download play on any machine you chose how you chose

Simple , I don't understand how people seem to disagree with this when its been said at e3 and after e3 that Scorpio and Xbox one s are part of the Xbox family ... Is it not obvious what they are doing ? I mean it was obvious last year when they said Xbox live would be coming to Windows , and saying Windows and Xbox would have a connection going forward

I honestly don't understand why people can't see it , people may not like the idea and the fact that traditional gaming cycles may be ending this way. When you buy a PC or laptop you don't buy the most exspevie one for just cheeking emails or internet browsing , you don't buy a high end on when you just want basic stuff. People want media stuff buy the PC at a higher price that deals with that , and gammers buy the top end gaming machines , photo editors buy the high end PC units , music makers the same ...

Ms are doing the exact same thing , so is Sony with neo ... Which is aimed at high end users who want better graphics

cleft53300d ago

If you are just looking to view 4k content then the average consumer isn't going to buy a game console to do that. We know that is true because of how the PS3 didnt resonate with the average consumer looking for a blu-ray player. If you are a gamer and you are informed then you know its more beneficial to just upgrade your PC and play these awesome games on Windows 10. Best of all, you can do that without leaving your friends behind since its crossplay.

Sweendog0073300d ago

PS3 was the first gaming console to jump on the blu Ray market , Sony was pushing blu Ray ahead of HD format .. Rember the HD dics and the add on for Xbox 360 that failed because blu Ray dics came along and Sony promoted it through PS3

If you are looking at 4K content in terms of movies and shows but like playing games causal then Xbox one slim is for you ... At 200 to 300 cheaper than a separate UHD player it's a no brainer , even if you don't want to play games on it the option is there to play games.

That's why ms are making one , and that's why Scorpio is being made to give people choice , and ways to play or enjoy entertainment that suits them. Not everyone wants the high end graphics or a machine that will do what the Xbox can do , but want to play games as a causal user and love movies in 4K more

People don't care about what 4K at all and refuse to see it as something they want to invest money in but like gaming , so the stand alone Xbox one suits them

Pro gammers who care about graphics and can tell the difference between 900p and 1080 HD and 4K who want the state of the art TVs with 4K , 3D , smart , HDR , doubly HD plus sound are going to be intrested in Scorpio

It's a great market scheme and may prove more successful that what people think , and attract movie fans who are refusing to pay 500 to 600 for a uhd player where in some country's you can get a uhd tv that price ( like the uk ) , so Xbox one s is more suitable

Rookie_Monster3300d ago

How are you going to convince gamers that owns personal laptop and notebooks that cant handle high-End games to upgrade? Hmmm, spend $1000 plus to get a PC to play those games or $299. Not really a tough choice.

n4rc3300d ago

Did you honestly just say people didn't buy a ps3 just for a Blu-ray players?

You are out of your mind.. it was by far the best and cheapest option at the time.. if you wanted a br player, you'd of been foolish not to just get a ps3 and I know many that did just that.

GamingIVfun3300d ago (Edited 3300d ago )

4k adoption isn't that strong yet, games are just going to be upscaled not true 4k and upscaling from 720p and 900p to 1080p is noticeably less sharp now, can you imagine 720p and 900p upscaled to 4k, its not going to look that nice. Plus the 4k tv's have their own upscaler, so Xbox One and PS4 games can be upscaled anyway through the TV. HDR will make a difference but their are probably only going to be a few games that take advantage of it between now and the release of the Xbox Scorpio. For people that already have an Xbox One and 1080p tv's there is no need to upgrade unless they intend on buying a 4k TV and even then the only advantage is HDR and 4k media play back because 4k upscaled Xbox One games on the Xbox One S aren't going to look any different than they do at 1080p and may look worse considering most of the big games run natively at less than 1080p or have a variable resolution.

Of course if you don't have an Xbox One and are looking to get one you should buy the Xbox One S. no brainer. if you already have an Xbox One like me, I think you should wait for the Xbox Scorpio because it's a true step toward 4k gaming.

I will be waiting for the Xbox Scorpio.

Most PC gamers right now do not have HDR monitors. "as long as you have a compatible HDR monitor" I'm using a 240hz Alienware 1080p GSYNC panel, (AW2518H) while I love it and love the high FPS in games, I'm not buying a new lcd just yet. So for now I just use reshade in all the games I play and enable "fake HDR" 😁 It's pretty good to, not real HDR but close enough for me. 👍

darthv721564d ago

If someone doesnt have an HDR PC monitor, can't they use a HDR supported tv? Most PC cards support HDMI out so I would think that could be one option. It might not have the uber high refresh but I'm sure it could work.

XxINFERNUSxX1564d ago (Edited 1564d ago )

Yeah the HDR TV will work over HDMI. I'm using displayport myself but if your just using that connection you can just use a displayport to hdmi adapter since displayport carries audio just like HDMI.

XbladeTeddy1563d ago

"Most PC gamers right now do not have HDR monitors."

Your point? Nothing wrong with Microsoft impementing this. Once you do get a HDR monitor in the future I'm sure you'll be moaning if Microsoft didn't have any support for it on Windows. They're not going to postpone it because XxINFERNUSxX doesn't have the right monitor yet.

CaptainHenry9161564d ago (Edited 1564d ago )

This is great news. I'm about to invest in a new HDMI 2.1 and Display port 2.0 monitor this year I'm looking at you Asus PG32UQ . Perfect timing 👌

Wrex3691563d ago

This is such a cool feature honestly.

Fluke_Skywalker1563d ago

This is good news I hate having to enable HDR manually everytime I play an HDR enabled game. Some games already turn it on automatically but they are very few and far between (Destiny 2 is actually the only one I know of 😅).

Steam vs DS4Windows – Which is best for DualSense On the PC

Now that I've had some time to play with the PS5 DualSense on PC with Steam and DS4Windows, it's time to decide which is best for PC gaming.

My issue is that on steam you can modify on a game by game bases as some nave native support and DS4Windows you'd have to turn on and off and the issue with what I'm saying. If it has native support and you use the Steam API or DS4W it'll give you Xbox control prompts so it's more convenient to just run the steam API. Generally games outside of steam make sure to have support unless old. I have both and will only use DS4W if I absolutely have to. It's good but the game by game bases on steam is so much more ideal. Example Games with DS4 native support will allow trackpad support like Ni no Kuni using the track pad. But with DS or Steam activated it puts the trackpad to the share button. So the manual ability to disable it anytime that game starts makes it where that game operates correctly every time

I just use my 360 controller for 3rd person games, like GTA. All FPS games keyboard/mouse. No need for me to spend 70$ on a controller. Plus I like it to just work without any drivers just plug & play like the 360 controller.

Try turning off Windows 10's Game Mode if your games are stuttering or freezing

A growing number of users say Game Mode is causing performance issues in games.

oasdada1876d ago (Edited 1876d ago )

Wow i just turned off my game mode a few days ago just because.. and i felt sloght performance getting better but i thought maybe it was just me.. and now i read this

godmachine1876d ago

Right , I read this about a week ago and immediately changed it even with a nvidia gpu my fallout 4 with 3d vision stopped hitching almost entirely

starchild1876d ago

Hmm I've been getting microstuttering in games on my relatively new Ryzen 5 3600. But it always goes away once I restart my PC. Very strange. But I think I already have game mode turned off.

Rude-ro1876d ago

Not sure if you can turn it off.
I
Have to go into task manager and fight it to get it stop running.

Skuletor1875d ago

I turned it off today, was relatively simple. Went to settings, gaming, clicked game mode on the side tab, then toggled it off

Rude-ro1875d ago

@sicksincesix

Right... but I find it still running when going through the task manager.

traumadisaster1876d ago

Last week I heard of that while trying to figure out audio stuttering on a rd 5700. There seems to be a lot of people having audio crackle and go in and out on amd. It seems like there is an audio conflict with two sources trying to control, I don't know.

monkey6021876d ago

I've been diving into the PC gaming side of things head first since last summer and I have a good grasp of it and I'm comfortable with it all now

But what you've just said is exactly why there'll always be a space for home consoles in the gaming market 😂

traumadisaster1876d ago

True, there can be enough problems to make one think it's not worth it. But overall since the ps360 days playing in HD or even 4k at 60 fps vs the muck of 720p under 30fps, non vsync with awful tearing it makes you figure out the pc. Then when you get steam sales over the years it's really nice. But there is a small percentage of pc horror stories that won't happen on console.

TheColbertinator1876d ago

Did this a year back and apart from less performance hiccups I also got less sound glitches. W10 Game mode is not a very beneficial feature for me.
