Is it "fanboy" to point out the failure of GFWL? Is it "fanboy" to call QB's PC launch very rocky, Gears UE's launch poor....Is it "fanboy" to point out that Win10 is still missing key features available on other platforms with no real utilization of any new ideas that give it a boost above its competition?

Ultimately MS talks a big game, but I'd say it'd be more "fanboy" to buy into stuff hook, line & sinker while clear evidence abounds that things may not pan out solely as planned. I think the point is that we need to just wait to see if MS can pull this off before we say that MS is "changing PC forever"...those lines have been thrown about in the past and they never came to fruition, it'd be kinda mad to assume things will be different this time sight unseen.

I'm with you. The PC has been doing this for years, why not give console gamers an option. I say release all games on one disk and let the X1 models either play the game at low settings or max settings based on the X1 model. I wouldn't even mine if I could swap out hard drive and Ram.

actually you wont save money because microsoft will absorb a lot of the costs and by having this in mass production they get lower rates for parts than you and i wouldn't. then you also need to factor in buying windows for $100.

consoles will continue to serve a purpose as would a pc.

MS is not completely evil to us here, but he is not even close to right; we are ready to eject MS altogether if not for some users who are only comfortable with MS products and hate change. We never allow new MS software into our business without fully scrutinizing what new background processes they implement. I am one of 3 who run the IT dept (degree in CS) and I am also a software engineer here working on in-house proton accelerator controller software - for cancer treatment.

I work with enterprise level MS and the dancing our contract lawyers have to do to make sure we are protected from MS's prying eyes of our IPs and confidential patient data is disturbing; we see their actual tools running on our networks without consent and have to rewrite scripts and firewalls rules JUST for MS crap. Me and the guys make sure we have Linux and Unix as our infrastructure backbone, so we can see MS spyware running around on our networks and can isolate.

Us engineering gamers are annoyingly fickle and like to shove in others' faces about our choices. We can smell MS's closed marketplace for price gouge control coming a mile away - not to mention the creepy tracking they do just to sell you your old shoes back. The PC gamers who do move to UWP, I wish them the best - but going on PC ONLY sites you will rarely find people who are gung-ho UWP.

God you couldn't have said it any better at all. They have long historys of being shady and anti consumer. They do this in Xbox the love of some people for this company is weird.

Play the games they make great im happy to play some xbox games but people who "TRUST" MS with anything are seriously misinformed.

Ultimate Windows Tweaker was a god send for me, I've been able to turn off background tasks and spyware that MS feels necessary to put on my PC. There's been some benefits in doing this, I've freed up 8% of my systems memory and got rid of a problem I was having with a jittery mouse pointer, I'm a graphic designer and having a mouse pointer freezing every couple of mins was driving me crazy.

Has anyone been able to read the article, I cant get it to open?

I think the Sorpio is a beast. I just need some games that will persuade me to buy one. I guess I have over a year to research new games that will be coming out. I've had an X1 since launch. The last two games I bougtht for X1 were Rise of The Tomb Raider and Quantum Break. I wish I was into Halo and Gears of War still. I want the new PS Neo as well. but I know it won't be as hard to decide to buy or not. I've bought probably 15 games just in the past 18 months for that console. I'm sure they will have something I'm interested in. To each his own though. If your into X1 exclusives more than PS4, I understand atleast.
