Like Fallout 4 VR alot of them are talking about making VR games already. Which would be exclusive to Scorpio. Pretty funny.

I think its because Microsoft aren't building a VR set /the reg Xbox One isn't strong enough to support the PC headsets

Overload3296d ago (Edited 3296d ago )

That's exactly why. Fallout 4 VR is the beginning of games the Xbox One won't get, but Project Scorpio will.

Read this part.

“We're following the reveal of the Xbox Project Scorpio very closely especially since the confirmation of VR support,” says Tammeka Games producer Sam Watts. “Considering we are already on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on PC already and in the process of porting to PSVR for launch later this year, working with a Win10-based XboxVR system is an obvious choice."

I'm fine with that... it's not as though a scaled-down XO version would be possible - even if it had enough power for +60fps, there's no VR headsets to play it on.

If Microsoft are willing to sell Scorpio at a loss (which would be smart - it's built for hardcore gamers, who tend to buy lots of games, which in-turn recoups money lost), then I'd bet on Scorpio selling quite well - in which case, I'll start begging for an end to the current-gen... I'm all for survival of the fittest - the sooner devs leave the weaklings to die (like those fools who still haven'tupgraded from the 360/PS3 era) the better!

TheGreatGamer3296d ago

Why do you keep banging on about lack of VR for vanilla X1? It would be even worse than PSVR and will be nauseating to say the least. If the power isn't there then it shouldn't be an option as it will literally cause people to be sick. Scorpio is positioning itself as the only console to offer high-end VR with, and I quote, "no compromise"

Is the Xbox One more powerful than Galaxy 6 phone? It would be cool if they somehow allowed the Gear VR the be compatible with the regular Xbox One.

Fin_The_Human3295d ago

Well Oculus Rift is a most wanted thing from gamers so I don't see why not take advantage of that.

Oh boy... Was considering getting the Xbox S but I better start saving up for Scorpio. I can only imagine how good the games will look. Imagine turn 10, 343i, Rare or 3rd party devs like Dice, CD projekt or Bethseda using the full power of the console? Damn, also playing games like Forza Motorsport 6 or Doom 4 in VR will be amazing. I don't think there will be any need to even scale down those games graphiccally to enable them run on Scorpio VR. I imagine the next Halo and Minecraft will have VR options too. Minecraft VR on Scorpio will sell boatloads.

@Overload

I think it's more about choice. The original Xbox One as it is was never going to support VR. If xbox console fans want a higher end model which supports better resolutions, fps and VR then Scorpio is your best bet.

"Oh boy... Was considering getting the Xbox S but I better start saving up for Scorpio. Playing games like Forza Motorsport 6 or Doom 4 in VR will be amazing."

See, people are already feeling like they're getting left behind.

"If xbox console fans want a higher end model which supports better resolutions, fps and VR then Scorpio is your best bet."

I agree. But it's completely contradictory to their messaging. I would go as far as calling it an outright lie. Because the reality is people will get left behind, it only took a few hours to happen.

“The specs for the Scorpio look impressive enough – at last, some decent memory bandwidth because that seriously sucked on the Xbox one,” says independent developer Byron Atkinson-Jones.

“However, all of this is redundant if games for it have to be backwardly compatible with the Xbox One – so what it really means is the power will just get used to throw 4k worth of graphics at the screen rather than to deliver better games.”

This guy is talking already about wanting to make a full on exclusive, not even just VR.

Exactly... People act as if the Vanilla XB1 promised VR and that the XB1 fans baught it for VR games.

It almost feels like the PS fans are the one pissed about this and they want to convince the XB1 owners that the Scorpio is a bad idea.

Weren't some developers talking about alienation with Neo? What changed their minds?

I welcome more horsepower, provided no one is left behind, but it's an unusual shift in ideology so soon.

andrewsquall3295d ago

Fixed, "Any increase in horsepower, compared to what we got with Xbone, is welcome."

"Players can now hide system apps, pin favorites to the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed. This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback."

This is welcomed, i like a less cluttered home screen.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny review - Design of the Times | TechStomper

"Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny feels stuck between 2025 and 2002. Not quite enough of the past to be pure nostalgia, and not enough of the present to feel fresh."
